Nat’s showered her in a Curtin of black, the buzzing given off by rapid wings a quick annoyance to the lioness. A cub basked in the heat of early morn, dawn just breaking the horizon, cascading a brilliant array of colors. Warmth flooded the lands as glistening dunes came alive with rich yellow hues. This heat would not be comforting for long and would soon engulf the sandy lands into an inescapable blaze.

Eyes wandered aimlessly across each shady hill of grain, the dark of night still lingering above the suns touchy rays. It blanketed the heat for a while, though moments later the sun would devour every last bit and provide a bountiful amount of brightness for the royal Firekin turf. The female of the pair sprawled across a dune, eyes slit and weary, ears perked and always alert and tail coiled about her stretched thighs. The boy, her eldest son sat up on his rump, peering out to the rising sun with a spacious distance from his lazy mother. 'Why are we still here?'

'Plus, I'm too tired right now. Rest Tamu'meka, there's much to be learned soon.' 'Mother but I wish to know stuff now! Please, let’s go out and hunt or stalk prey, something other then lazing about...' The cub scowled and popped onto all fours, approaching his mother and butting her head with his own; the aggression he was feeling towards her weighted gently on the gesture. Kijinga's reflex was to tuck her chin towards her chest, which instinctively she did and also reacted with a subtle purr. It rumbled on for a moment, as if another way of her whining, before silencing into nothing. 'Oh--fine. We'll do things soon, but let me rest, just a few more minutes.' The female shut her crisp eyes for a moment, then drifted into a weary consciousness, a daydream sequence ambling through her head.

Tamu grunted and trailed back to his original spot, flopping down onto his soft white belly and all at once decided he too would rest a bit. The sun would soon burn up the place, he figured, and just a few moments of peaceful snoozing wouldn't hurt...
