"Weird..." Roger muttered, since his eyes were glued on the floor. Something was definately wrong, and it took him a moment to figure it out. It was the floor. It was new. New carpet... not old, not moldy, not threadbare... it was new. That meant, someone was here recently... and probably was still here, he realized.

"Questionable," The woman murmured as she walked across the new carpet and took the opportunity to admire the ornate design of the furniture (or rather the lamps) within the room - it hadn't been outfitted at present but the feeling of tranquility and the new breath of fresh air within the building indicated that someone had been here and indeed, they may very well be lurking within the building still.
"Yet explicable." She added as an after though, glancing around once more as she felt a slight pulse emit from close by - glancing around a little more she couldn't help but frown and then and only then did she spot the doorway up the stairwell a short distance away, curious, she went to explore leaving the man or rather Roger to continue to blather like the imbecile he was.

"Wait..." Roger called out to her, his hand coming out, as though he could grab hold, though of course, he was much to far away to do such a thing. His eyes shifted left and right, before settling back on the woman, "I... don't think you should go there..."

"You do not think I should go to a lot of places," The woman snapped in reply to his attempt to stop her, by no means was she going to listen to one who tried to remove her from the forest purely so that he could attain the power for himself! Needless to say, she wasn't impressed by his veiled attempts and cast him a disgusted look from beneath her mask - it seemed her eyes would be narrowed continually in his presence...
Nevertheless, as she made her way up the steps, her leather boots patting softly against each in turn she couldn't help but feel a slight sense of apprehension rise within her - what if she didn't like what was up there?

"Don't go... please... it's... not right...." Roger asked her. He didn't move from his spot, just inside the doorway. He felt, a little uncomfortable, but as though it was alright to be standing here in the foyer, rather than trudging upstairs, where someone might be living, or gods only knew what else. Something about it was wrong.

His pleading and whining were becoming tiresome, incredibly tiresome and with a slight snort of irritation she continued upstairs once more, taking one of the doors that did not lead into the epicentre of the temple but appeared to lead around the epicentre of the temple - needless to say, she would defy those who tried to control her and it seemed like an endless amount of time before she at last returned from the location that the door led to (balcony door just for ooc knowledge), her face rather pale beneath her mask.
Her eyes were somewhat glazed over and as she closed the door behind her and made her way back down the stairs she was silent...

Roger was standing still where he had been the whole time, his hands folded before him, twiddling his thumbs slowly. It seemed to take quite a while, before the woman came back down, looking like she had the hell scared out of her, at least that's what it looked like to him.
He swallowed slowly, and looked back up at her, "Um... are you alright?"

"Oh yes; I am perfectly alright." She replied in a curt manner, her gaze only briefly flicking towards the weak-kneed man that had accompanied her into the temple however now was not the time to dwell on him, now was the time to consider the next course of action very carefully for what she had seen had not only answered her questions but had also posed one of its own.
Shaking her head in regards to her own thoughts, she simply made her way towards the back of the foyer and took a seat against the wall, tilting her plumed hat downwards in an attempt to hide her eyes. Her head bowed and mask still upon her face; she became lost in her own thoughts.
...So that was what was calling her then - but what was it?

Roger frowned slightly, as the woman sat down, and seemed to be dozing off. Slowly he approached her, cautious, and a little terrified, at first, eventually he got a little more bold, stopping when he was six feet away from her. He bent down slowly, sitting on the back of his legs, looking at the woman's masked face, "What happened... up there?"

"Nothing." Came the response; so simple, so short and with little inclination as to whether it was lie or truth. It seemed that she was either using her skills to hide the truth or she was actually telling the truth - nevertheless she was aware that further questions would come and after a few moments she lifted her head and locked her eyes upon the man before her.
"I simply found the cause of my yearnings." She offered and shook her head as she looked down once more, closing her eyes as her shoulders slumped ever so slightly. She seemed more interested in ensuring her comfort as opposed to explaining fully what she had encountered but after a few moments she did release a slight chuckle - her thoughts were a mess and completely out of control, perhaps she was going mad and what she had encountered was simply the final straw!

Roger's frown deepened slightly, he knew it was a lie. After all, she had seemed so, shaken, just moments before. And her near insane laughter didn't help prove him wrong, now did it?
He sat down fully, fishing into his pocket, and drawing out a small, black cardboard box. He held it out, in the palm of his hands, towards the woman, "You seem a little, tense. How about a simple came of cards to relax?" he asked her, a warm enough, genuine seeming smile on his face.

"Not afraid I might cheat?" The woman retorted as she seemed to recover from whatever it was she encountered - her head lifted once more and her emerald eyes almost appeared to twinkle with a slight malice. Yes; she had remembered his comments about her being different, she was well aware of his discomfort and lack of trust in relation to her so what was the purpose of his actions now?
After clearing her throat, she lifted a gloved hand to her mask and removed it from her face to reveal the perplexed expression that she had carefully 'molded' onto it before removing her only source of disguise. Hopefully the expression would be enough to spark at least some understanding within the welp anyway.
"Then again, I suppose a game of cards wouldn't help," She seemed to muse to herself, somewhat darkly to say the least.

"Not in the least," Roger told her simply enough, keeping that bright smile on his face, he was starting to pull out the cards, a new pack, crisp and fresh, when he heard her other comment.
His eyes looked up at her maskless face, seeing the molded expression, believing it to be true enough in this woman. His smile softened a little, and he returned the box back to his pocket, "Just thought... I'd... nevermind..." he murmured softly.

//The days when I do want to type "n't" I never do...and the days I don't want to type "n't" I do... >.<
The woman quirked a brow at his sudden change and couldn't quite place exactly why he had done it, however after thinking back to her previous statement she let out a muffled curse and shook her head, "I meant would, would!" She reinforced, glaring towards the wall as she seemed to mentally scold herself for allowing her words to become mixed up.
Nevertheless, having corrected what she had said previously she adjusted her position against the wall and placed both mask and plumed hat (which she removed) beside her. Within moments she had her head resting against the wall with her chin tilted slightly upwards and her gaze fixed on him; well, she supposed she would have to recover what she had said further by offering up the invitation again and by the gods did she hate it.
"Will you shuffle or shall I?" She enquired at last.
