I think Danny Carey plays more complex rhythms and he sometimes makes me pay atention to his drums only in a song... but Josh Freese is ok to, and his drums fit perfectly in every song. My husband told me once the same thing, that Josh was better... but I changed his mind XD (I think so...), though I'm nobody to judge any drummer cause I don't play drums... I wish I did domokun

im no drummer, but i am a bassist and have been for 7 years now....knowing what i know about rythm, and how hard it is to drum, and having listened to countless songs from anyone you can imagine and mentally ripped them apart for their basslines and drumlines i have to go with Danny. he it just amazing...
he'll just add these little accents that st first you dont evne pick up on, but then, if you ever find yourself really listening to the drums, youll say to yourself, now why did he do that...then you give it a listen again just letting all the music wash over you and you just get this entire new persepctive on the entire ******** song...its as if a door has been opened and you can just see clearly...its amazing, dont get me wrong Josh Freese is a really good ******** drummer, no doubt in my mind. and i dont really agree with those who subscribe to the thought that Josh just tried to sound like Danny, i think they are two different drummers with two different styles. but in the end, if we are discussing technicality and an overall sense of what rythm can add to a song....i gotta go with Danny as the better drummer.
but Justin kicks everyones a**..........

I dont think its really fair to judge whos a better drummer. Both are really good, plus it all depends on the band they're in. In Tool Danny has a lot more oppotunities to sound more like a better drummer because of the sound and type of band he's in. Josh doesnt have that many oppotunities.
That said, i still voted Danny, because of the song Triad.

Danny Carey and Josh Freeze are hard to compare, they have completely different styles. Danny Carey dos more tum work than Josh, and Josh uses more symbol work than Danny. I would have to say I like Danny more though.

The first time my dad, am extremely good muscian, heard APC he asked me:
"Is this, um, new Tool or something. It sounds like them, but just a cheap rip-off. The drummer sounds like he's trying to copy Tool's drummer's style and well, not quite making the grade. It's not bad but... ehh..." gonk
I just think, they're both good, but Danny is just better and I don't know why there is that much to argue on.
I mean, I hate Metallica, but I can admit that in their time they had some good guitarists.... ah well.

I think Danny has more talent and meshes in extremely well with the overall sound of the band, thus adding to the listening experience.
