Halloween stood at the very edge of a large forest and peered out into the plains beyond. She seemed to be looking for someone out among the green grasses that made up the stretching plains. Keeping her ears perked high Halloween sniffed the oncoming wind searching for one certain scent. It was the scent of the stallion Lightning she searched for as he was supposed to meet her and play hide and seek with her. She was here now to find Lightning.

Lightning trotted swiftly through the plains, his tail acting like a banner, and his huge body moving like liquid through the grass. Where was Hallow? He had met the mare a small while ago, and they had become good friends, and she as tolerant of his flirting. They were supposed to play hide and seek. Where was she? He had been looking forward to it, greatly. The concept she had explained to the stallion, seemed simple, and mainly instinctive, but really fun! Lightning sniffed briefly, searching for her familiar scent of fish, and fur.

Halloween spotted his tail first like a white beacon among the green and then she caught his scent. It was unmistakabelly Lightning as it smelled of masculanitity and lingered with the scents of other random mares. She nickered a greeting at him as he got closer and watched him for a moment as his movements caught her cat-like interest especially his long mane and tail swaying in the wind. She started out of the edge of the forest and headed for him to meet him halfway. "Hey there! Glad to see you made it." Halloween said as she came in voice range of him. "Was afraid you'd forgotten."

Lightning jerked up, the voice had suprised him! Oh, it was Hallow, the friendly if a bit etcentric, whiskered horse. "Hey Hallow!" He grinned and trotted over to her, flipping a peice of mane out of his eyes. The huge stallion snorted. "Forget? I would never!" Lightning pranced a bit in place, excited to start a new game. "So..." He continued, wanting to show her he had remembered, "Hide and Seek is played when one soquili hides, and the other counts to a hundred, then when they finished counting.. they go find the hidden soquili?" The stallion finished, with shining eyes, hoping he had gotten it right.

A smile was spread on Halloween's muzzle as she reached Lightning. The smile even got bigger when Lightning recounted what she had explained to him and right down to the T too. "Exactly! I'm impressed by your memory skills." Halloween said as she glanced at Lightning and then started off for the woods. "So do you want to hide or do you want to seek first?" She asked turning her head back to look at Lightning.

Lightning grinned. "Why, thanks!" He said, and his ego swelled. "I have a photographic memory," The stallion added, with a wink. She was a pretty mare, nice enough. "Uhh.." His grin was replaced by a blank stare. "You have to choose?" The stallion blinked. "Well.. I guess.. Urrh.. Eenie meenie minie moe, catch a cougar by the toe.." The nursery lyrics were said in a hushed tone. "Okay.. I guess I'll hide then!" He said, having landed on that one. "So.. I just go into the woods and hide.. alone?" Alone in the woods? Gack. He would be string.. couldn't be a wimp in front of his latest flirt.

Halloween grinned at Lightning and nodded to his question about choosing. "You know I can hide if you'd rather seek but I warn you I know this forest like the back of my hoof." Halloween said hearing Lightnings hesitation about hiding in the forest. She knew that Soquili who had never been into the forest before had a few fears about it and was sure Lightning was not exempt from that fear.

Lightning grinned uneasily. "What? Noo. It's okay, I'll go in. No big deal, none at all. Infact, I'm used to places like this! Except there were kalonas. I just beat 'em up and kept sleeping there! Yeah.." He said, very, very quickly. "So.. I just go in there? Or do I wait till you start counting?" The huge stallion said, eyeing the forest, and getting his bidy to move a few inches toward it. What if he got lost..? The thought creeped into Light's mind and was hesitantly brushed out. Hallow would find him, if he got lost. Right..? Lightning smiled at her, hoping she would be able to find him.

Halloween grinned back at Lightning hoping to reassure his uneasiness. "If you insist then you can go ahead and go in and I'll start counting." She replied and then winked at Lightning before lying down on the grass, closing her eyes and hiding her face in the grass. "1, 2, 3, 4...."

Lightning blinked. "Oh.. So I go?" Blinking again, he spun around and galloped into the woods. Leaves crunched loudly beneath his feet, and twigs thwapped his face. It was dark! Light, though, stood out like snow at night. The stallion was incredibly visible. He thought for a moment. A tree! Alot of trees! He could hide behind those! A huge cluster of trees and close together bushes stood infront of him. The large stallion darted behind them, some small parts of his bright pelt still showing. Lightning breathed noisily throught his nose, his adrenaline racing.

Halloween calmly counted all the way to hundred though skipping a few not knowing those that was in between 10 and 99. She waited a few moments more before standing up and looking around. "Ready or not here I come!" She shouted into the dense forest and then started into the forest. At the threshold between the forest and the plains she stopped and started sniffing the air. Having a bit of cat in her helped a lot when searching for someone during hide and seek. She sniffed a bit more and then caught a trace of his scent going forward to a slightly left angle. She peered into the forest before taking off at a trot in search for the illusive Lightning.

Lightning wiggled excitedly. He could hear her! Was that good? No, the stallion was pretty sure that was bad. Lightning nervously shifted his hooves so theyweren't so visible, and released his breath not knowing the stallion had been holding it. Every part of Light's body tensed, and his breathing was silent, now. A small little instinct inside him hid from the predator.

Halloween could tell she was getting close his masculine scent was getting stronger. She took a deep breath and took in Lightnings scent that lingered in the air; she enjoyed hs scent it was invigorating to her. After a few moments Halloween returned her attention back to the game and troted over to a large batch of trees. Lightnings scent now was so strong she wasn't sure if it was possible or not. She looked this way and that not seeing him anywhere. How odd it was that she could smell him so close... A thought dawned on Halloween in that moment and she turned to looked directly at the trees beside her. "Oh Lightning... I know you're there." She said while slowly pushing her head through the thick trees until she could just barely see him through the foilage. "Found ya!"

Lightning heard her, she was quiet, now, though. He relaxed in the quiet, his vision blurring as he stopped focusing. The forest could be.. nice. Yes, nice. Suddenly a familiar head was poked through the bushes. "Oh my god!" Lightning shrieked and jumped, his eyes wild. "Oh.. It's... you.." He panted, breathless. "Don't.. do..that.. again.." The stallions heart finally went back to normal. "You.. scared the crap out of me!" He said, with a grin.

Halloween's ears fell back against her head as Lightning shrieked. "I'm sorry..." She replied while pulling her head back through the trees and going around to come up beside Lightning. "I didn't mean to scare you. Guess when I start thinking I get a little too quiet." She said with a sheepish smile.
