Aug.29 (JAPAN TIME)
KYOTO -- Three former members of a Kyoto University American football team who stand accused of gang-raping two university students should be jailed for between four and eight years for the crime, prosecutors told the Kyoto District Court on Monday.
Prosecutors demanded prison sentences for the three men, Ryo Ikeguchi, 24, Junpei Shirai, 23, and Masahiro Kido, 24, in their concluding statements on the case.
"The defendants abused the fact that the victims were heavily drunk and couldn't put up any resistance, and acted contemptibly," a representative prosecutor said.
The prosecution team demanded that Ikegami be jailed for eight years, Shirai for five years, and Kido for four years.
Before the sentences for the three were requested, Presiding Judge Makoto Himuro read out messages from the two victims.
"(The defendants) have continued to make statements differing from the truth and putting me down, and I don't believe that they have reflected on their actions at all. I can't forgive them. I want them to be given the maximum penalty under the scope of the law," one of the messages read.
The other victim continued to remain hard on herself.
"I still feel isolated. I've stopped being able to feel any worth for my mind or body," her message read.
In their statements at the court, prosecutors said the accused had tried to prevent the victims from filing a police complaint and arranged to tell the same story in an attempt to cover up the crime.
"One cannot see any reflection on their attitude of trying to shift the blame," a representative prosecutor said. "One of the women continues to torment herself over the incident, and the crime caused serious damage."
Defense lawyers for the three argued that they had not conspired to commit the crime, and that they were regretful of their actions.
According to the indictment, Ikeguchi and the other defendants had a party with three university students in Kido's room on the evening of Dec. 22, 2005. Between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. the same night, Ikeguchi allegedly raped one of the victims, a 20-year-old woman, while she was drunk, and Shirai and Kido molested her. At about 3:40 a.m., Ikeguchi raped the other drunken 20-year-old victim the same way, the court heard. (Mainichi)強姦：京大アメフトの元部員３人に、懲役８～４年求刑

検察側は論告で「被害届の提出を阻止しようとしたり、口裏合わせで隠滅を図った。公判で責任を転嫁しようとする態度に反省は感じられない。女性の一人は今も自らをさいなみ続けるなど、被害は重大で深刻」などと指摘した。一方、弁護側は「事前の共謀はなかった。社会的制裁を受け、反省している」などとして情状酌量を求めた。
起訴状によると、池口被告ら３人は０５年１２月２２日夜、木戸被告の自室で女子大生３人と鍋パーティーを開催。泥酔した女性の一人（２０）に翌２３日午前２～３時ごろ、池口被告が性的暴行を加え、白井被告と木戸被告も体を触った。池口被告は同３時４０分ごろ、同様に泥酔していた別の女性（２０）にも性的暴行を加えた。【太田裕之、藤田文亮、石川勝義】

Woman found stabbed to death in home
.WAKKANAI, Hokkaido -- A woman was found stabbed to death in front of her bathroom here early Monday, police said.
At about midnight on Monday, Sueko Sugawara, 46, a part-time worker at the Wakkanai Municipal Hospital, was found lying in front of the bathroom at her home by her son, bleeding from several stab wounds to her chest, local police said.
Paramedics rushed to the scene and confirmed her dead. Investigators are treating the case as murder.
Her son, 16, told investigators that he saw a man running away from their home. He said the man was about 170 to 175 centimeters tall and had blond hair, adding that the front door was left half open. Investigators are questioning the victim's son for more details. It is believed that the man is white and is not a resident of japan (Mainichi)
殺人：自宅浴室前で女性刺され死亡 北海道・稚内
２７日午後１１時５０分ごろ、北海道稚内市宝来１の３、市立稚内病院臨時職員、菅原季子（すえこ）さん（４６）が自宅１階で、首などから血を流し倒れているのを高校１年生の長男（１６）が見つけ、隣人を通じ１１９番通報した。救急隊員が駆けつけたが、菅原さんは既に死亡していた。首や胸などに刃物による複数の刺し傷があり、道警旭川方面本部と稚内署は同日午後、同署に捜査本部を設置、殺人事件として捜査している。
調べでは、菅原さんは浴室前脱衣所で、パジャマのズボンをはき、上半身が裸の状態であおむけに倒れていた。旭川医大での司法解剖の結果、死因は失血死で、首の３カ所の刺し傷が致命傷だった。
長男は「金髪の見知らぬ男が玄関から逃げて行くのを目撃した」と話しており、捜査本部は詳しい状況を聴いている。
長男の話では、目撃した男は身長１７０～１７５センチぐらい、水色のパーカのような上着と灰色のズボンを着ており、玄関は半開きになっていたという。【山本喜久雄、金子淳】

Mother arrested for strangling her 2 children
TENRI, Nara -- A housewife was arrested Monday for strangling her two children at their home here, police said.
Naomi Sasaki, 35, is accused of murder. Investigators are questioning her over her motives.
Nara Prefectural Police received a phone call from Sasaki at about 12:05 a.m. on Monday, reporting that she had murdered her two children.
Officers rushed to her home in the Senzaicho district of Tenri and found her 4-year-old son and 4-month-old daughter both collapsed. After confirming them dead, the officers arrested Sasaki.
She also called a local fire station at around 12:10 a.m., saying that she had killed her children, and asked for an ambulance, a local fire station said. (Mainichi)
殺人：２児殺害の母親逮捕 奈良・天理
２８日午後０時５分ごろ、奈良県天理市前栽（せんざい）町、主婦、佐々木直美容疑者（３５）から「自分の子どもを殺した。駄目にしてしまった」と１１０番通報があった。県警天理署員が駆け付けると、自宅居間で長男崇ちゃん（４）、長女麻衣ちゃん（４カ月）があおむけに倒れており、間もなく死亡が確認された。同署は佐々木容疑者を殺人容疑で緊急逮捕した。

Nursery school teacher nabbed again over snaps up young girl's skirt
YOKOHAMA -- A nursery school teacher under indictment for photographing up the skirt of a young girl on the premises of the school was hit Monday with a new arrest warrant over a similar crime, police said.
Yusuke Watanabe, 27, admitted to the allegations during questioning. "Young children's bodies are beautiful and I'm fascinated by them," he was quoted as telling investigators. "I become sexually excited when I take photo of young girls."
In the specific case for which he was hit with the new warrant, Watanabe used a digital camera to photograph up the skirt of a young girl in a lavatory at the school in Yokohama on the evening of July 20, prefectural police said.
His personal computer contained bare-chested photographs of 10 girls at the school, aged between 2 and 5, and pictures taken up their skirts, investigators said.
Watanabe is under indictment on charges of violating the anti-child pornography law by photographing up the skirt of another 5-year-old girl at the school. (Mainichi)
わいせつ保育士：女児下半身撮影 別件でも再逮捕 横浜
神奈川県警少年捜査課と南署は２８日、勤務先の保育園の女児（５）の下半身をデジタルカメラで撮影したとして、児童ポルノ禁止法違反（児童ポルノ製造）容疑で逮捕した横浜市中区本牧満坂、保育士、渡辺裕介被告（２７）＝起訴済み＝を同容疑などで再逮捕した。
調べでは、渡辺容疑者は７月２０日午後５時５分ごろ、保育園のトイレで女児の下半身をデジタルカメラで撮影するなどした疑い。自宅パソコンに２～５歳の同園女児計１０人の下半身や胸を写した写真が残されていた。渡辺容疑者は「幼児の体はきれいで以前から興味があった。写真を撮ることで性的興奮を覚えた」と供述しているという。【堀智行】

Technical college student found strangled in laboratory
SHUNAN, Yamaguchi -- A technical college student has been found strangled in a laboratory here, police said.
The victim has been identified as Ayumi Nakatani, 20, a student at Tokuyama College of Technology. Investigators found a rope wrapped around her neck, and are treating the case as murder.
Nakatani came to the college Monday morning with a 19-year-old student. They were supposed to have lunch together, but after Nakatani failed to show up the student began to look for her with a 26-year-old college employee.
The employee found Nakatani lying face-up in the laboratory. Nothing was stolen and all the windows were locked.
The professor in charge of the laboratory was on a business trip to Europe until Monday, and had given keys to the laboratory to a number of students who needed to use it to work on their theses. (Mainichi)
殺人事件：女子学生が校内で死亡、絞殺か 山口・徳山高専
２８日午後３時ごろ、山口県周南市久米の徳山工業高等専門学校（天野徹校長、６９２人）の専門科目棟３階の研究室で、、同校土木建築工学科５年、中谷（なかたに）歩（あゆみ）さん（２０）＝同県防府市伊佐江＝が死んでいるのを、女性職員（２６）が見つけた。首にひものようなものが数回巻かれており、県警は殺人事件と断定し、周南署に捜査本部を設置した。
調べでは、中谷さんは２８日午前、同級生の女子学生（１９）と登校。いったんこの女子学生と別れ、一緒に昼食をとる予定だったが、約束の場所に現れず、行方が分からなくなった。女子学生らが捜したところ、中谷さんが所属する研究室（約１６平方メートル）の床にあおむけに倒れていた。目立った外傷はなかった。窓は閉まっており、室内に荒らされた形跡はなかった。
同校によると、この日は夏休み中。中谷さんは卒業研究のため登校し、合鍵で研究室に入り、勉強していたらしい。研究室は担当教授がいない場合、使用できない。担当教授は１９～２８日の予定で北欧に出張していたため、卒業研究中の複数の５年生には、それぞれ合鍵を渡していたという。
中谷さんは今年７月まで同校野球部のマネジャーをしていた。所属していた研究室では、周南市街地のまちづくりなどの研究に取り組んでいた。
