Danica doesn't usually race ovals. eek She's made a believer out of my mom, and my mother is not a racing fan.
Plus, Danica is Bobby Rahal's prodigy. Bobby picks his drivers well. After all, look at who won last year's Indy 500... Buddy Rice. Guess who he drives for? Bobby Rahal. This is Danica's year to shine at Indy.

Sunday Practice, and DANICA reclaims the point! She's just ahead of the Andretti Green boys.
Edit: I jinxed her, just as I posted, Tony Kanaan lapped the fastest lap of anyone on the month of May.g

Heh, I jinxed Tony Kanaan... Danica won the practice session before qualifying today.
Kanaan captured the provisional pole on Indy 500 Pole Day. However, in the spotlight were a past champion, and a female rookie. Helio Castroneves posted a 4th fastest average lap time, then withdrew it in an attempt to try to grab pole. With the withdrawal, Danica reclaimed the 4th place position (her 3 last lap times were all above the pole's average time, but her first lap dragged her down off the front row. During her warmup laps, she nearly lost it off turn 2, which excited the IMS Radio staff. She recovered the near-highside, and drove even FASTER. She starts behind Kanaan, which is the past is excellent place to be, if it stands). Castroneves then tried to qualifying again, in his T car, but fell short of Danica's time! Danica out-qualified the back-to-back Indy 500 champion! Although disappointed she was not on the front row, Danica seemed happy to be practically guaranteed in the field for the 89th running of the Greatest Spectacle in Racing.
