I know next to nothing about acoustic guitars. Just going to lay that out there. That being said, I'm looking for a reasonably cheap one (preferably less than 500 USD) that I can take on trips. I'm looking for something with a thinner neck, because I'm used to an electric (and the acoustics I've played tend to have been wider(is that normal?)), decent volume and tone and preferably (also) a body that lets me easily access all the frets.
Suggestions?

You're looking for a fullbody guitar with a cutout, something like this.

Check out taylor, martin for playabiltiy (pricey too) but yamaha typically have something in this range that play very nice, and sound good as well.

Also, check out Johnson for a good, cheap guitar. And the Fender California guitars actually have a strat-like neck. Might be what you are looking for. I like the Sonoran SCE. Check out the Califonia guitars here

Also, look into the Martin Backpacker if you don't want a full body guitar-- I love mine!
