Mleli's mood was still good as she took a walk through the jungle. She wasn't really hoping to run into anyone, more just to get away from her home for the moment. Her stroll through the jungle trees has taken her to the edge of one of the streams that weave through the trees. Deciding to take a break, she was settled in by the edge and taking a drink. Her ears were turned to her back, listening for any signs of another.

The small, muscular lioness prowled in the bushes, her scarlet eyes flashing as she saw the leopardess by the stream. Her lips pulled back into a smirk, showing her stained teeth. This was just the thing to lift her spirits - a target that may or may not be able to match her in strength. The lioness almost laughed.
With her came the heavy stench of blood, which clung to her coat and her breath. Indeed, there were dark red stains all over her coat, both her own and from others. Casually she emerged, eyeing Mleli quietly.

With her nose so close to the water, the smell went unnoticed as she took a drink. The adolescent leopardess was in fact smaller than the lioness, and no doubt unmatched in strength and experience. She caught the sound of the emerging lioness immediately, and tensed. When she lifted her head from the water, the smell of blood struck her like a ton of bricks.
Still tensed, she turned her head to look at the intruder. A lioness. The blood stained appearance of the lioness didn't ease her, and she narrowed her steel blue eyes.
"Who are you?" she asked, shifting her weight.

Roho smirked, though her mind was convoluted, which produced her usual spew of jumbled rantings. "The future ruler of this jungle," she growled, her eyes flashing, "as with any other land on this earth."
She narrowed her eyes and hissed, "And what are you doing here? No one ever consulted me! Has no one any respect for their Queen in coming?"

Mleli lifted herself from the ground slightly, watching the lioness with narrowed eyes as she smirked. The answer she got was not at all what she expected, and she scowled even before the words really settled in. It would, of course, be a lion who tried to claim the jungle for themselves.
"I live here," she hissed back, clearly insulted by the question, lifting her head proudly, "A lion does not deserve rule over the jungle."

Roho threw back her head and laughed, an unpleasant, harsh sound - along with slightly crazed. "Maybe not any old lion," she agreed, "but I am not any old lion. I am Hodari'roho, and these lands will be mine someday."
Growling, she narrowed her eyes, hissing, "Any who stand in my way will be slaughtered unmercifully. Only the weak would not want to be led by a strong leader! Those who will not submit..." she smiled, flashing bloodstained teeth. "They are as good as dead."
She paused for a moment as if in thought. "So, what about you, leopardess? Will you join my forces, or must you be another casualty?"

The leopardess twitched imperceptably when the lioness gave her harsh, crazed laugh. Her chin was held high and still, refusing to react to the odd laugh and, in her opinion, crazy words physically. Instead, she would use words. A physical reaction would only highlight the physical advantage the lioness had, and Mleli was not keen on that.
"Weak are the ones who need a leader," she replied sharply, "The strong don't need a leader, and if they did they would not choose a lion." The leopardess used this as her reply and took a step back, only to feet her back paws hit water. Without taking her eyes off of Hodari'roho, Mleli moved forward, intending to leave.

The small lioness made a swift leap, landing in front of Mleli to block her from leaving. Her eyes gleamed angrily as she hissed, "And you have something wrong with lions?" A smirk crossed her lips. "All I'd expect from a non-lion. Even though there are weaklings in my race, we can still rule over all other species, for we are the strongest, the smartest, the fastest and the most cunning!"
Snorting with laughter, she continued, "The strong don't need a leader, no, but when they band together to claim what is rightfully theirs... every army needs a commander, and that, leopardess, will be my position."

Mleli's head shot up and she came to a quick halt when Roho leapt infront of her to block her escape. She returned the hiss, keeping her head still, "Yes, I have something wrong with lions. I think you forgot most arrogant on that list of yours."
She took a step back from Roho to take another route away from the lioness, "And no lion has rightful claim over the Jungle, and I cannot imagine them having claim over much of the other lands as you seem to think."

Once more the petite lioness jumped in front of Mleli, sneering. "Arrogant? I've met lions who are anything but arrogant, and I prefer arrogance to humility. One must be proud of their strengths and accomplishments."
As she listened to the leopardess speak, she shook her head, almost laughing. "Anyone has a rightful claim over any land if they are strong enough to take it," she growled. "What will be mine, I will take by force. You'll come to rue this day, when you could've bowed and gotten on my good side... when I rule the lands, your day will come!" She narrowed her eyes fiercely, seriously contemplating attacking the leopardess for her "insubordinance". She decided, however, that the female was confident, especially if she dared challenge Roho - so she simply stepped aside to allow the other female to finally pass.

Mleli gave a snort-like laugh when Roho said lions are not arrogant, and that one must be proud of their strengths. To her, lions exagerated these things for themselves, they acted like they owned the world- much like this lioness. It was enough to remind her that such lions were in the world, souring the good mood she's been in.
"It's not pride when one exagerates their strengths and accomplishments," she snapped back, "I don't need to wait to rue the day I let myself suffer through such talk and threats." Mleli was pleased to see Roho open up a path for her, and chose to take it while she could, finally daring to break eye contact.
Lions.
