" I still don't think it's fair that you didn't get chicken pox " Tiwaz grumbled. Though it was a nice sunny day with a refreshingly cool breeze the young girl was in what seemed like an unending bad mood. Ever since she had met a strange pair of twins, Tiwaz had grown increasingly grouchy to those around her that weren't counted as close friends.
Carrying a small red tackle box in one hand and a pail of worms in the other Tiwaz trekked down the path to the dock at bass'ken beside her brother. With the rest of her siblings sick with the aforementioned illness or busy there was no one to play with but Kushiel who was less playfull than he had once been as a sprite. Thus she'd been convinced to go fishing with Riycan.
" Maybe not but at least you have someone to do stuff with." Riycan wasn't remotely bothered by his younger sisters moodyness he had enough cheer for both of them. The former green jay and current guardian of death by poisoning stretched his green and yellow wings while thinking about how enjoyable it would be to fight with strong fish and wrestle it from the water using only one of the rods he carried.

Now that he had grown up a bit, Ezra's mom allowed him much more freedom to explore. He could usually be found outdoors, wandering the woods or simply relaxing in the park. His mom took him on quite a few 'nature' trips to interesting places elswhere in Gaia, but for now he was back home in Barton Town. A little boring, sure, but pleasant enough.
Hidden in a clump of weeds at the shoreline, Ezra noticed the approaching children before they saw him. He knew Tiwaz, though he hadn't seen her in a while. Ezra had been busy catching minnows in a small plastic cup. Bernd sometimes liked to eat minnows, and besides, Ezra was pushing for a full-size aquarium full of fish and perhaps more interesting critters. Dumping his most recent catch back with a splash, Ezra headed up the bank towards the docks. He waved, and waited somewhat awkwardly for the others to notice him.

Out of the corner of her eye Tiwaz caught a flash of yellow and black, her heart skipped a beat and she hoped against hope, as she turned her head, that this time her wish would come true. As she watched Eza wave she blinked for a second to see if he was just a mirage after all he looked far bigger now, when his image refused to fade she dropped the box and Pail and ran towards him .
" Ezra you came back , I thought you were gone for good but you're not,you came back " She exclaimed grinning as she made her way to her long lost friend." I missed you and I looked for you a lot but you were always gone" She mock glared at him '" Don't ever dissapear again ok." Though Ezra had been replaced as her favorite friend he was still a good friend and she was truly grateful to see him again.
Riycan who'd followed his Sister at a slower place smiled as he approached " Hey there I'm Riycan Tiwaz's older brother, nice to meet you, would you like to fish with us?" Riycan had no doubts that anyone Tiwaz had befriended was interesting, besides the kid had awsome skin and looks never lied. Not to mention Tiwaz was not likely to fish happily without her friend now that she knew he was there.

Ezra shrugged, a bit embarrassed at all the attention. "Well, I'm back now. I hope for good this time. I missed you too, Tiwaz." His mom kept being overtaken by wanderlust, but hopefully this time she had learned her lesson and would settle down for a while. Ezra was tired of moving.
The other child was strange to Ezra, and didn't smell like another Tale. Still, he was willing to take Tiwaz at her word when she said that the kid was her brother. Ezra grinned shyly. "Hi. Sure, I'll fish with you guys. I don't have my own pole though." Shaking the last few drops of water from his minnow-catching jar, Ezra stuffed it into his pocket and went to join the other children. Compared to real fishing poles, his jar seemed silly, but he was nervous about the hooks hurting the fish. He would just suck it up for Tiwaz and her brother. The hooks could always be taken out.

Tiwaz grinned pleased that not only had Ezra missed her but that he was willing to join them in fishing. " It's ok that you don't have a pole we can share , I could fish and you could pull them in becuase you're stronger, or we could just take turns" It didn't really matter to her which happened so long as everyone had fun.
Riycan lead the trio to the end of the dock and looked at Ezra " I'm fishing with live bait since I'm actually willing to put worms on the hook. You guys can either use worms as well or there's some soft plastic lures and stuff you can also use." He offered.
Tiwaz rolled her eyes" He just likes feeding the fish since Mom makes us catch and relase, it's why we use circle hooks becuse it's harder to hurt a fish with them and there's no point in throwing back a hurt fish. We can use whichever one you like." Tiwaz had no preference, as long as she didn't end up in the water like the last time she'd fished she didn't really care.

Shrugging again, Ezra slithered slowly down the dock after the other two. Sharing a pole was fine with him, but for now he would be content to watch the other children. "I never heard of a circle hook before," he offered, settling down to watch. "But I haven't been fishing in a long while neither."
Feeding the fish sounded like fun to Ezra. Feeding animals was fun sometimes. He had learned from experience never to attempt feeding ducks though. Being attacked by ducks over a bag of chips wasn't fun at all. "I went to a place once where you could feed these huge fish called tarpon. We threw them little bits of meat out of a bucket."

" That sounds like fun, this is only my second time fishing and I'm only repeating what mom said, I dont really know much about fishing " Tiwaz admitted. She watched as Riycan baited thier hook then cast the line being careful not to hook anyone in the process. A small red bobber float on the surface of the water and Tiwaz flicker her eyes between it and Ezra not wanting to ignore her friend but also not wanting to lose a fish. " What were you doing out here before we came along?"
Keeping an eye on the other two Riycan smiled and cast his own line, Ezra seemed like an ok sort , not too rowdy or agressive and probably a good influence.

"I was catching little fish in a jar," Ezra said, patting his pocket. "I'm hopin' my mom will let me keep some." He relaxed, watching the two bobbers on the lake. One of them jerked suddenly, throwing up a jet of water. "Hey, I think somebody got something! That was fast!"

Tiwaz wonderd why anyone would want to keep a fish, after all they didn't do much and you couldn't really play with them. She'd been about to ask Ezra why he wanted some as pets when she felt a tug on the line and heard his shout.
Gritting her teeth she leaned back and reeled in a bit ." Don't let me fall in" she pleaded with the two older boys. Though she doubted there was a fish strong enough to pull her off the dock she'd neglected to wear a life jacket today and her swimming skills were still poor after only one lesson.
Riycan divided his attention between Tiwaz and his own bobber if looked bad for her he'd help out but for now he wanted to let her try and finish on her own . Older brother or no he didn't want to risk losing his own fish to help Tiwaz wrangle hers. Besides he wasn't the only around to help.

Unsure of what to do, Ezra hovered just behind Tiwaz, ready to catch her should she go in. It looked like a strong fish for such a small girl. "I'll get you if you fall!" Ezra's swimming abilities were about on par with a rock's -- he was a champion of sinking to the bottom, and once down there he could stay put for a long time. He was very good at holding his breath, however, so if he accidentally fell in with Tiwaz he would probably be able to just slither back to shore with her.

For a few minutes Tiwaz weaved back and forth reeling in or releasing the fish as she tried to pull the creature to shore. Said fish however was a wily beast and one that was just beyond her ability to pull in. It was hooked good to be sure but it wasn't coming in willingly. With the sun beating down on them Tiwaz began to perspire a bit from the effort," Stupid fish I'm not gonna hurt you" she hissed in frustration.
The only thing comforting the girl was the fact that if something went wrong she could count on Ezra to save her. After all he was a snake and there were snakes that could swim in the ocean so he could swim in a lake.
" Ezra you may want to take a turn now" Riycan said wryly, he had a feeling that if Tiwaz got any more annoyed when they finally got the fish in it would be in trouble.

"Well -- okay," Ezra said, reaching for the rod. He didn't want to steal Tiwaz's fish, but taking a turn at reeling it in might be fun. Too bad the mysterious fish was so big and strong -- it definitely wasn't the right size for his aquarium at home! "If we knew how to clean fish, I bet this one could make dinner for all of us."

Tiwaz handed over the rod somewhat gratefully since her knuckles were paleing from griping it so hard. She looked at her friend curiously " I thought you were a healer how could you kill a fish and take out it's guts and then still eat it and not feel bad?" She had no doubt Ezra did eat meat but to actually watch it die and then eat it seemed strange. Although admittedly Tiwaz didn't really know her friend that well except his name meant healer and he liked to draw.

A healer? Ezra blinked in confusion as he took the rod. "Well, I said I dunno how to clean fish. I'm too squeamish to kill a fish anyways." Cooked fish sure was good, but Ezra didn't have the stomach for taking the fish from Point A (the water) to Point B (the frying pan). If he kept on camping he might eventually figure out how, but he was quite happy to remain not a fish murderer for now.
Ezra hadn't been fishing for a while, but he was able to slowly reel the fish in closer to the dock. Fighting with Tiwaz had exhausted it. Once the fish was almost in, Ezra handed the rod over to Riycan. "Here, you pull it in. I don't want to lose it."

As Riycan took the or do from Ezra for the final few pulls Tiwaz danced about and grinned " You did it Ezra you caught the stupi- err stubborn fish" Tiwaz was glad the fish hadn't been able to escape after it had annoyed her so, besides she was proud of Ezra.
Riycan placed his on rod on the dock ignoring the worm squirming futiley on the hook. He took the rod offered by Ezra and pulled up sharply with reeling in at the same time. Having done this several times in the past he was well aware of the effect and carefully stepped to the side as the fish appeared.
Pulled forcibly from the water a large fish thrashed about flicking water everywhere before landing with a thud on the aged wooden dock.
