Sonata Arctica is not symphonic. Try Therion, they are not power metal though.
If you don't like Therion then try Rhapsody or Thy Majestie

Lacuna Coil, is also female fronted but there songs are more down to earth the nightwish.
Kamelot is alot like nightwish, only in stlye.
Tristania which has three voclasitsts, a operatic trianed, a classical guy, and an extreme male vocalist.
Dragonforce, they play extremely fast,
And Sirenia which is a tristania spin off.

oh cool thread!
^Within Temptation is awesome, i love them too.
Kamelot and DragonForce are great too *agrees with Kipu and Ageaus*
Tristania and Sirenia... both of them sound enticing.

I reconmend, "Within Temptation" , "Type O' Negative" I used to have a whole list I will have to see if I can find it again.

MOst of mine have already been said ^^
Erm...Leaves Eyes is quite good too...
Maybe (although not so metal-esque/we) Claire Voyant (well, I like female vocalists XD)
