It had to have been at least mid day, or so it seemed to be a reasonable guess that the Kaimu had decided to stay back in the den that day, as oppossed to go out to venture the further edges of the lands of her normal days.

In fact, she'd hardly gotten up that morning, instead laying lazily a couple of feet from where he two young ones had been sleeping, purring and watching them. Rising up, she moved towards the pair, sitting at the heads of the twins, watching them adoringly, before leaning down and nuzzling both of the children in turn, before flopping down onto her side.

"Good morning..." she whispered, sighing a bit, before looking about, silently wandering where her mate had wandered off to so early in the morning, before looking back to the children.

No matter.. she could lay there and watch them all day.

The male of the twins stirred quietly, his little body slowly uncurling from it's sleeping position. Clear silver eyes slowly opened, blinked a couple times, and glistened as they took in the dim morning light. The little cub yawned, his pink tongue a stark difference from his black coat. He glanced around, noticing his mother right next to him. Heck, it'd be hard to miss his mother, she was right next to them.

He pulled himself up into a wobbly standing position, slowly making his way to his mother's chest. His silver eyes looked up at her once he had reached her soft chest, the tear-like marks around his eyes matching his mothers.

"Mama..."

The lioness had looked away momentarily, distracted by her curiousity as to where the pair's father had gone off to, before her attention drifted back to her two sleeping darlings.

However, one wasn't a sleeping darling anymore, but rather an awoken one. Watching her son rise up, Mpenzi purred and nuzzled the side of his head once again when he had reached her.

"Good morning, sweetheart..." she purred in greeting to the young heir, before sighing happily.

Had she woken him? She had to keep herself from frowning physically at the possibility, but it was pushed from her mind as she continued to watch her child adoringly.

"Did you sleep well?" Mpenzi then inquired to her son, curiously.

The little cub gave out a squeak before wobbling over, the nuzzle from his mother a little more then what he was expecting. He pulled himself upright, sitting in front of his mother now, looking a little sleepy still, if a bit grumpy now. "Mama...don' knock me over like thaaat..."

He gave out another large yawn, his body slowly starting to wake up for a fresh day. What would the little prince get into today? Only the future would tell, but right now, he just felt like nuzzling up to his mothers soft fur.

"I slept okay...Shabaha kept kicking me though." He grunted a little while looking over at his sister. He loved his sister mostly, but sometimes she was just so bossy.

"Where's Papa?" He looked back over to his mother, his silver eyes scanning his mother, just wondering where his father had gone this morning.

Mpenzi chuckled a bit at the wave of slight-grumpiness that came over the waking cub, pulling him close to the fluff of her chest. "Aww.. I'm sorry, love. I didn't mean to knock you over. Will you forgive me?" she inquired innocently, though she knew all too well that she would be forgiven, if only because she was mommy.

Again, a slight laugh came from the lioness as Jicho gave his report of how well he had slept under the assault of his twin, looking to the other sleeping cub, then nodding. "I see. Perhaps she did that because she was having a bad dream?" she suggested, as the notion of Shabaha purposely beating up her brother was not one to enter her mind.

Letting out a sigh as Jicho inquired the whereabouts of his father, Mpenzi shook her head. "I'm sorry, Jicho.. but I don't know where papa went." she explained apologetically. "But I'm sure we can give him a lecture about leaving us alone when he gets back, alright?" she then suggested, wrapping one paw around the child, and licking the top of his head.

Uh oh! Bath time~

Jicho gave his mother a pouty look, acting as if he really cared that his mother knocked him over. Of coruse he didn't, though, he loved his mother, and wouldn't think the ill of her, ever. "I'll forgive ya, Mama."

Jicho himself would never think that his sister would do anything on purpose against him, but it still didn't help the fact that he didn't sleep well.

He was just about to answer his mother's question with an affirmative nod, but before that his mother had scooped him up and started bathing him. Ick! This was definately his least favourite time. His mother was kind, but she always had to wash him so roughly.

Squeaking in protest, he tried to wiggle away from his mother's paw, but she was deftly stronger then the little prince, and thus he had no choice but to put up with a bath.

"Yeuck..." he protested. He may be their heir, but he wasn't over pouting at this age.

It wasn't her fault she was rough, nor did Mpenzi mean to be such when it came to the bathing of her children. It only served for her to get the cleaning done as quickly as possible, for the sake of just getting it over with for them. Afterall, she'd been a squirming little complaining mass of fur when she was a child, and her mother had done the same.

"Hush, Jicho. The less trouble you give me, the quicker this will go, and then you're free to complain." the lioness purred, nuzzling the child again, then resuming her work on cleaning him, which, happily, did not take too much longer, due to the fact that he was still quite small, and he hadn't made a complete mess of himself yet.

Once she'd completed her annual cleaning, Mpenzi released him to frolic away, if he were to choose to do so.

"There, all finished."

Jicho gave another little defiant squeak as he tumbled out of his mother's loving arms, landing with a rought little 'thump' on the floor. He mewled a bit before turning back to his beloved mother, rubbing a bit of his head.

"Owww...fine, Mama, if you say so..." he said with a pout, slowly crawling to his mother's side again. Nothing was worse then bath time, so he felt like he could b e near her, and not get pulled into another cleaning session.

But before he could reach her side, he noticed that a tiny little spider had started to scurry it's way around the floor, and straight towards his mother!

Doing the noble deed of slaying the beast, the little prince gave off a small growl, which was most adorable, as he was still as young as ever, and pounced on the spider, no doubt squishing the poor thing with his little but mighty paws. Giving of another growl, he proudly looked up at his mother with a loving, childish smile.

"I saved you, Mama!"

Mpenzi watched as her ever so compliant son crawled about, beaming with pride. Both his, as his sister's, ever so small and fragile presence brought a brimming joy to her heart.

A rather confused look came over her face as the cub's attention zoomed towards something, turning to see what it was, but was unable to, being as Jicho had let out his mewl of attack, and had pounced onto it, before announcing his heroic deed.

A praising purr came in response to the prince's gleeful announcement, nodding and nuzzling him adoringly. "That you did, dearest.." she confirmed, chuckling a bit. Saved from teh_killar spida. Yep, that was her. Damsel in distress number mommy.

"And I'm sure when daddy gets back you'll be able to boast your heroic acts to him as well, love." she added, chuckling a bit.

She watched with with adoring gaze for a moment, before pushing herself up to her paws, nudging the hero gently with her nose, before stepping past him. "Let us go get a drink together, love."

With the prospect of being able to leave the cave with his mother, Jicho immediately stood up and bounded towards his mother, oblivious that the spider had lived through his attack, and scurried as fast as it could carry itself to the wall of the cave, where it would be safe.

Scrambling around his mother's legs, just keeping himself away from tripping her, or so he thought, he couldn't wait to go out and get a drink with his mother. Sure, it didn't sound too thrilling, but he was able to go somewhere with his mother, just the two of them. How special was he?! Definately a mama's boy.

Mpenzi stepped carefully, as to not step on her young one, watching him bound about happily, smiling to herself. He was an adorable young one, and he brought such a stir to her heart. It was heartbreaking to think that sooner or later her little one would be grown up, and not need her anymore.

Was this the desperate clinging desire that all mother's had towards their little ones?

She shook the thought, though only mentally, from her mind, and instead continued to walk, taking a deep breath in as the cliff opened out and upwards, allowing the light to spill in. The Kaimu paused in her walking for a moment to enjoy the warmth of it, then again followed suit of her child, pausing again before she met the side of the nyungu, looking about carefully for anybody who may, or may not have, been out there and was a stranger, if only for the saftey of her child, before lowering her defense and sit by the body of water.

Jicho kept up his bounding pace until he reached the edge of the water. Peering ever so slowly over the edge, he blink as she saw himself in the water. He still found it fascinating that his pale silver eyes stared back at him as they blended in so well with the water.

Shaking his head, Jicho clumisly bent down to take a drink of the cool, crisp water. If he'd stared any longer, he might of fallen in, and that would be an embarassment to his mother, no doubt.

When he took his fill (which definately wasn't much), he strutted back over to his mother's side, happy to be near her again. She was always so kind and warm, who wouldn't want to be near his mother?

He was too little to take note of everything that his mother did for their saftey, and instead would be the sort of rambunctious child that took it for granted.

Nuzzling her leg, he looked up at his mother, happy. "Too bad Sis couldn't come with us, Mama."

Keeping a watchful eye on her little one as he studied his reflection, a smile formed over Mpenzi's face. Of course if he'd shown any signs of falling into the nyungu, she would've been up within a moment to catch him. Afterall, Jicho hadn't seemed fond of the bath she had given him, and thus she could only imagine that being soaking wet wouldn't be too much to his fancy either.

When the cub started to pace towards her again, the lioness shifted her position to allow him to rest by her side without having to crawl over one of her hind legs.

A gentle purr rumbled through her chest as she licked the top of her child's head, then pressed her nose against the place in a sort of psuedo-kiss. She moved her head away quickly, however, as to not impede the dark cub's movements any further then she had.

She watched his antics with an adoring interest, and nodded in agreement at his verbal mournings that Shabaha remained asleep. "Yes. It is a lovely day that I'm sure your sister could have enjoyed with us."

Nuzzling his mother's leg, Jicho's silver eyes shone as he looked up to his mother. "Don't worry, though, Mama. We'll all come out here sometime in the morning, maybe even with Papa too!"

Prancing around his mother happily, the little cub ddin't notice that his mother's paw was out as far as it was, and he tripped right on it, toppling head-over-heals, rolling a bit away from his mother.

"Ouch..." he studdered as he pulled himself up. More-or-less a mess now, he bounded over to his mother, hoping that he didn't manage to hurt her.

"Oh, Mama! Are you okay?" he exclaimed as he checked out his mother's paw. Of course the little cub didn't harm her, he could barely harm a cricket at his age. But it was his mother! How clumsy of him to do that.

Watching her son, Mpenzi smiled as he stated in a hopeful tone that eventually they'd get the whole family outside together. "Yes, one of these days we'll do that." she agreed, purring.

As Jicho bounded about, she laughed a bit, quietly, at how adorable the cub's antics were. However, when he went tumbling over her leg, the lioness was quick to rise up and follow after her child, checking to make sure he was unharmed by the incident.

Therefore she was very relieved when he rebounded the tumble quickly, and even laughed a bit when asked if she'd been harmed. Pressing her nose to the top of Jicho's head as he inquired if she were alright, the lioness nodded. "Yes, I'm quite alright, little one. Are you unharmed?" she inquired, purring into the fluff of white that crowned the top of his head.
