The meaning of those events can't be told
the perception is vital to the outcome
time now for the moment to unfold

"I cannot make it cohere. I am not a demigod."
-Dante Alighieri

The Shadowfox Mercenaries Klaus and Lex perch in repose in the main room of the building that formerly housed the little-known group, now disbanded. They talk of times past, when food was good and life was fast. Time has, as it is wont to, has been less than kind to Klaus, and he is none better for the wear. Lex and he are having a discussion.

Lex's morning ritual of a good stretch before moving to do whatever just didn’t seem the same without claws to dig deeper the Ruts in the floor that he’d carved over the years of doing so, however, the latest form of his seemed worthy enough to take precedence over his previous one for some time now. One can only speculate why. By now he was slumped onto the lounge couch, his one arm up over the arm rest, holding a beer, his long lapin ears hanging down off his head along with his now much longer hair.

One of his eyes didn’t even seem the same either, a faded scar hidden by fur and time, running from cheek bone to forehead straight through his left eye. the eye after some incident or another, had been replaced with both technology and a sprinkling of magic as one might call it, or some force that was only mildly unnatural, and could see just fine, but still he kept it closed, and even the eye patch he was dangling from one finger boredly, along with his beer in the other 4, showed he liked to play people along now and then.

He’d stretch a little on the seat, pressing one of his digitigrade feet into the arm rest opposite his head and sighed, casting a glance back over to Klaus with his right eye, the icy blue eye unfocused and unpenetrating, as a lot of his looks tended to be.

"What was the topic again?" having lost himself in thought at some point between speaking, swig of beer, and spacing out for a moment of silence.

A tall, thin man was leaning against a post in a dark corner of the room, arms and legs crossed. His shoulders were slightly hunched forward, with a cap tipped down over his eyes. If a snore had come from the man, it would not have been out of place. He held an undisturbed beer under one of his crossed arms.

"What the hell is he going on about?"

The man tilted his head to the side, momentarily glancing at his comrade, who's words pierced the silence.

He reached inside his jacket and produced a crumpled pack of Luckie Strikes. "... you were telling me about how everyone else has gone since I've been away." His smooth, bavarian accent flowed, "Now please, continue." He slid a cigarette half way out of the pack with a flick of the wrist, then pulled it out with his lips. He lit the cigarette, dragging slowly off the rolled tobacco.

Quote:
To say that the Shadowfox history is strange is an understatement. It is in fact understated enough as to be misleading and untrue. If chaos was lightning, thier headquarters would be the Eiffel tower in a storm.

The group's former leader- A shady alien from an otherwise nice planet, is now old. He ages more rapidly than he ought to. This has had the unfortunate symptom of advanced mental deterioration, exacerbated by the latent case of mania he suffered in youth. Sadly, he arrives.

The door unlocks loudly and slowly, and solid footsteps are heard.

"Ahyahbuggered ole gun..." A voice mutters distractedly and shells are heard falling to the ceramic floor of the kitchen.

Lex's ears lifted slightly as his eye shifted from klaus to the sourse of sound.. that sounded oddly familiar... a small double click came from the couch as the rabbit reached into the cushions and pulled out a notable walther p99... oh what a wonderful sofa that was. "Now who could that be...?" he asked curiously to no one in paticular..

Up in the sky, touching the tops of trees she passed, a tiny pixie flew over the area, looking for an easy target. It had been a boring month, no one seemed to be bothered by her little pranks anymore. There was too much misfortune in too many places for her to even make a dent.

She made her way slowly over the landscape, everything looked the same everywhere. She didn't expect to see anything interesting, but then something caught her eye. There was a man outside of a building, he looked a little out of sorts. Finally it seemed like the little pixie had found something worth while so she sped down to see what he was up to.

Just as she reached the man he was making his way inside, so she lightly latched onto his shirt behind his left shoulder and waited.

His mind swam with disorientation. Parts of his head felt numb or tingly, and his skin felt like there were beetles inside. Cold sweat dripped from is brow. He was thinking about the voice he heard in the next room. Momentarily lucid, he wiped his brow and walked into the room.

The alien was old and bent. Metal braces around his legs kept him upright. His scuffed sunglasses hung over the end of his nose, exposing slivers of his rheumy old eyes. Antennae grown past his shoulders now, the symbol of seniority in his species. Seeing Lex, he furrowed an imperious eyebrow. With a twitch of a smile, he said "I came back,"

The fact he was even recognizable as himself in such a form was mildly surprising, but the fact someone besides klaus, that he recognized had come back finally was even more so.. He stared a bit blankly for a while as the gun almost dropped out of his hand. "F... Felix??" he said dumbstruckly, opening his scared over eye to reveal the biomechanical eye.. "by the gods..."

A sardonic slash of a smile infected his face.

"Which gods, man?", he croaked.
"The jokesters? The Anansis? The Discordias?"

Felix's gun arm was clasped over the huge nickelplated revolver, a 46-70 Government that Lex had given him long ago. It was still a perfect issue.

"God is in the details, they say." He cryptically mentioned, still grinning like a death's head. "Th'ktaba movunrese fn'agle, I know what you're doing." he growled, suddenly angry.

Lex blinked a bit with confusion as the rapid mood shift came about and he let the gun weilding hand rest loosely over his one knee. "What?" was all he could say to the rather untangeble language felix had just spoken. "you either said that too low for MY ears to even hear, or.. said something i havent the slightest clue to the meaning of.." as his one eye settled closed and he slipped back on the eye patch a little..

The man remained in the dark corner of the room. Never moving nor saying a word. He kept a close eye on all that has happened, taking in everything.

A sudden burn between his middle and index fingers on his right hand, Klaus' cigarette had slowly burned to the near end.

He dropped the butt onto the floor with a "Scheisse!", shaking the pain out of his right hand.

The pixie clung to the back of the crazy alien listening to the conversation going on. She was confused, mostly by the strange changes in moods. Maybe she didn't have to do anything here, maybe things would just spiral out of control on their own and she could just sit back and watch. She decided to stay put for the time being.

Edited because it sucked. Hard.

A long time it had been since he was sane, but always had his will prevailed over the illness. Always was there strength left to say the right words or do the right deeds. Felix is genetically predisposed to clinical mania. Long months of space travel and his old age brought on a depression that exacerbated his symptoms. Felix's eyes unfocused and his mind let go.

A lifetime of lonely military training automatically put his revolver in his hand and cocked it.

(im sorry for not posting.. hard a** week.. uhg. x.x; )

lex blinked as he quickly tensed up with felix cocking his large gun, his own already loaded and armed to fire should anything happen, but didnt do anything, wondering just what was up. "felix?? whats up?" The rabbit sitting cautiously on the couch, ready to vanish in a blink.

Klaus' natural reaction sent his hand darting for the P08 Luger pistole that was supposed to be holstered to his right hip.

... scheisse..

With eyes furiously leaping throughout the room, they settled on a beat-up tan dufflebag to the right of the doorway by the old alien's feet.

... scheisse..
