Story
~Ten years after Shion's Arc, a new tale of the Saga begins. KOS-MOS' former body is found with the data still intact, and what remains of her new soul. However, KOS-MOS does not seem to wake up. At a nice age of 34 Shion Uzuki... or rather Shion Rigely, has found time to settle down with Allen and have a child of their own. She continues to work with Scientia who has formed with the former U.M.N. to work on creating a better Network for the universe.
Though disturbing signs have been showing up at various corners of the Universe, both Humans and Realians have been coming down with strange cases now known as Encephalon Syndrome, where the mind of it's posessor slowly starts to deteriorate and then finally shuts down the mind completely. The cause of this devistating illness is unknown but it appears to be sweeping across the galaxy at a steady rate.
What's more human-like Gnosis, calling themselves the 'Zilart' are declaring war on Humanity for 'hurting' their bretheren, the Gnosis.
Will KOS-MOS ever be awakened by the darkness again? Will chaos rise once more to lend a helping hand? What will be the fate of the Universe? What are the Anti-Human 'Zilart'?

Rules
1. No Godmodding 2. Treat EVERYONE with the same respect. This means that if you treat someone with a bad attitude, they hold the right to give you the same attitude back. Yes, this is the Golden Rule ~ Do unto others as they do unto you. 3. Please PM me your profiles labeled 'Xenosaga: The Arc of War' so that I know you have read these rules thoroughly. 4. If you're going to OOC please use (())[[]] 5. This RP is Semi-Literate to Literate, If I see one post with a single line of text, it will be unacceptable, please try to post at least a paragraph. Other RPers need something to work with to so the RP doesn't go dead. 6. There is such thing as 'solo-rping' for a while. In this case, you may have to do it at times until another character comes along to RP with you. 7. Romance is allowed. Just keep it at a decent level. 8. My word is law. 9. Have fun <3 10. Do not post in the thread before being accepted and sending me your profile. - Thanks

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Made-up's list: Gaia Name: Lacrimosa Ephemerality Character Name: Hikari Eyanami Age: 21 Height: 5'6'' Weight: 117lbs Bloodtype: O Weapon: Butterfly-switch gunblade Appearance: Shoulder length brown hair. Fair skin and light blue eyes with a bit of silver in them. ((Picture coming soon)) Personality: Hikari is independent, she has an amazing will allowing her to overcome many obstacles in her way. Not exactly the type to give up so easily, however she is caring and compassionate to her closest of friends. Biography: Born on Second Miltia, Hikari was an early orphan at a young age. Her parents died from a Gnosis attack on the space ship Woglinde, ever since she has lived with her Grandmother and Grandfather on Second Miltia. Though she has become extremely independant she still has time to find and make new friends. At the age of 16 Hikari joined the Military, after obtaining the status of 'Major', at the age of 18, she dropped out, finding that she rather take on her own orders and soon took on the titles of a Bounty Hunter and Mercenary and has lived life on her own like that ever since, traveling from one corner of the galaxy to another. Currently Hikari owns her own private space ship (About the size of the Durandal) known as the Eldridge, and also pilots an E.S Ephraim which was given to her by the Military as a sort of present.
Lately since the recent Raikart attacks, and the Encephalon Syndrome on the galaxy's nose, Hikari has found herself in alliance with The Kukai Foundation.
Gaia Name: Chris Ganale Character Name: Vynn Hano Age: 35 Height: 6' 2" Weight:197 lbs. Bloodtype: AB+ Weapon: Primary - Shinaijou; semi-sentient sword that reacts to truth and love Secondary - Vengeance; .50AE Desert Eagle Appearance: [x] Personality Seno's generally a pretty sociable and friendly person, except in matters pertaining to the Gnosis, or anything related thereto. It goes without saying that he won't be playing well with Zilart. Biography: Many, many years ago, Seno Nakakami was a bright-eyed, eager young Vector technician assigned to the KOS-MOS development project. His participation in the project was relatively low-impact; he wasn't in charge of any major sectors relating to the project, simply one of many technicians whose job it was to design and monitor the data relay systems within KOS-MOS' neural network that would translate her 'thoughts' into movement.
While it went without saying that everyone involved with the project took great pride in their work, Seno became considerably attached to KOS-MOS during the time he spent working on the project. Whether or not this attachment was pride taken to an extreme, or signs of actual love, is something that's open to debate, and that not even Seno himself can truthfully confirm or deny.
Fortunately or unfortunately, he was left behind during all the various conflicts and combats in which KOS-MOS and crew participated, but that's not to say he remained ignorant to their actions. During the course of the project's development, Seno inserted an inobtrusive line of code into KOS-MOS' core programming that records everything she experiences and transmits back to him to monitor. This line of code managed to survive discovery and removal through the various frame changes and system checks that KOS-MOS has gone through, and has kept him appraised of everything she had been up to from the time he'd been separated from her on the Woglinde, to her final battle at the core of Michtam. It was this event, forced to watch in horror as she sacrificed herself, that birthed and nurtured his undying hatred for the Gnosis. He swore to all the gods of the universe that he would not rest until she had been avenged.
In the power vacuum that formed immediately following the disappearance/death of Wilhelm, Seno contracted a number of companies to begin construction of an ES craft, using an alternate power source that greatly increases the craft's alternate power, and a starship that would strike fear into the black hearts of any remaining Gnosis, and began flash-training himself in ES piloting and starship command.
Two years later, the ES Streich was born. Another three years, and the Imperial-class Assault Star Cruiser Intrepid found its way into Seno's possession. After several years spent wandering the galaxy searching both for capable and willing crew for the gargantuan craft and its compliment of AMWS, and for the remains of KOS-MOS, drifting through the cold depths of space.
Whether it was he or another who discovered KOS-MOS and returned with her to Known Space is not currently known, but all knowledge of Seno's attachment to her indicates that, were it he who found her, she would still be in one of the science facilities aboard the Intrepid. Therefore, the more likely case is that Seno is completely unaware that she has been found; his special code in this case fails to inform him of her whereabouts because she is completely shut down.
So Seno and the Intrepid spend their time roaming through Known Space, occasionally venturing out into the Unknown Regions, and continuing the search for KOS-MOS and the quest of destroying all traces of the Gnosis.

"Oh my goodness... are you okay Hikari? You're looking a little pale." A woman in soft blue welcomed her at the elevator to the bridge of the Eldridge. Hikari forced a smile despite knowing her current conditions from earlier this morning. She shook her head and lead the woman towards the main panel and watched as she sat down waiting for an answer.
"I'll be fine, it must of been something I ate." She yawned and turned to face the front where a half a dozen 100 series realians were constantly working on their own stations. "Any news, Rose?" Hikari's eyes fell down onto the woman in blue again. She looked up from her own panel and shook her head. "All is quiet, and not a single word from N.V.(New Vector) about the broken angel that we recovered a few months ago..."
Hikari crossed her arms and leaned against the panel. She felt slightly feverish despite the cool atmosphere but decided that it was just nervs and probably a case of the chills. She sighed and knitted her eyebrows together with a soft smile, "And your mom?" She softly spoke. There was silence between the two women, and then finally Rose spoke up.
"The doctors say that it's most definatly Encephalon Syndrome...how much time is left..." She paused almost to catch her breath. But really Hikari knew she paused to catch herself before she let the emotions take over. Rose was that kind of woman, the mission was more important then anything right now she had always felt. "Is uncertain."
Hikari looked away, "We'll head back... if need be, just tell me Rose."
And then the silence loomed over the two once more for a while until Rose spoke once more, more quietly then ever, and almost in tears. "Thank you, Hikari."

arrow Deep Space, Battleground; Optional BGM: Who Are You? - Final Fantasy VII OST, Disc 1
To this day, it never ceased to amaze Vynn that the living Gnosis ships could actually burn. This day, therefore, was both amazing and satisfying at the same time, as he stood on the bridge of the Assault Star Cruiser Intrepid, watching half a dozen Gnosis-type ships burning beyond the transparisteel viewports of his ship.
It was a very careful trap that he and his ship's crew had laid out for this small convoy, utilizing a number of mines that he had dubbed "Ession mines." They were little more than a sensor system designed to detect hyperspace travel, married to an artificial gravity well generator to pull craft from hyperspace, a single-shot ion cannon to disable any electrical craft they pulled into realspace, and a miniature hypercomm to alert his ship when they had gone off.
The Intrepid had laid nearly two dozen of the mines within at least a dozen parsecs of the space that the Zilart liked to travel through, and then stationed itself at the center of the spider's web in order to rapidly respond to any signal.
The convoy they had ambushed had been relatively small; only a dozen or so ships, few of which were anything close to combat-worthy. Those had been taken care of almost immediately, allowing plenty of time for the star cruiser's gunners to pick crippling shots off on the remaining ships of the convoy.
And now they were down to a single ship left. Unlike the rest, the crew of this one seemed to want to talk.
"Are they still prattling on about surrender?" Vynn asked.
His second-in-command, a former Federation ship's captain named William Talsbeth, nodded, smiling knowingly. "They haven't shut up for five minutes. Your orders?"
There was a momentary pause as Vynn rubbed his chin thoughtfully, then looked back toward William. "Give me a channel to them."
The gruff military man turned and nodded to the communications technician, who entered a few commands, then nodded back to the two ship commanders.
"Attention, Zilart crew," Vynn said, switching to his offended officer tone. "It has come to my attention that you are offering your unconditional surrender to my vessel. Considering your situation, that is indeed the wisest move. In effect, you are asking me for mercy, to stay my hand and not slay the lot of you."
His face hardened, and this time the 'offended officer' tone and expression were not a ruse, but his true feelings coming through. "But before I respond yea or nay, I would like to remind you of the events ten years ago at Michtam. Your 'brother' Gnosis certainly had no inclination to stay their hands, to show mercy to her. I would like you to consider this as I likewise consider your offer in the next few minutes."
With a knife slice of his hand, the communications technician cut the channel. Vynn turned toward William, who regarded him with a slight sign of confusion. "You're truly going to consider their surrender?" the older man asked.
The ship captain smiled cruelly. "Of course not." He called over his shoulder, "Guns, I know you have your firing solutions. Eradicate those abominations."
Vynn then turned back to William, his smile growing, as the deck beneath their feet thrummed with the pulsing of the ship's heavy turbolasers. Green backwash illuminated the bridge as bolts of energy from all 100+ turbolasers zeroed in on the surrendering Zilart vessel.

"Ma'am." One of the 100-series called out. Hikari's eyes drifted down to the child-like realian with blue-silver hair. "We are approaching a battle...you're orders?" Hikari's eyes drifted ahead of her to view empty space but she knew somewhere out there, there probably was indeed a battle.
"Status." She firmly demanded.
"Zilart." replied another 100-series. She need not to know anymore then that single word. the Zilart were vile creatures with ruthless consciousness that demanded the lives of the human race to surrender to them and die. She pressed her hand firmly against the panel before her while her eyes danced around the bridge at the many lives that were in her hands.
Evade? Or stay back until it was over? She lowered her head, her responsibility was for them and for the rest of the crew on the ship. And they weren't allowed to gate in until 3 hours from now. Not only that several hours earlier The Eldridge was in it's own Zilart battle, and she had lost some of her minor weapons and AMWS and AWGS pilots...
Hikari lowered her eyes and sighed, "Keep me on every eventful update! Put the engines at halt, for now until it's over. Order all hands on alert."
Not a word was said, even when Rose looked up at her with her gentle red eyes, and turned away quickly. "I'm not going to jeoprodize my crew..." Hikari replied to Rose's look.

(NOTE: this post is entirely dependent on the assumption that it is my battle you are approaching. if it's not, inform me via PM and i'll put down a new post. also, i may be changing my character's name at some point, since the one i'm using now is primarily associated with my Love Hina story)

Though he often tried to play the nonchalant officer routine, it never took long for Vynn to become much, much more interested in watching the Zilart die. He would have much, much prefered to watch the Intrepid's turbolasers core the living ships of the Gnosis themselves, but watching their inbred cousins burning at his extended hand was just as satisfying.
Crossing to the far end of the command walkway, he resisted the urge to press his face against the transparisteel viewport, but only just barely, and stood watching as the turbolasers repeatedly lashed out, slagging any metallic or assimilated parts of the Zilart ship and burning clearly through organic sections. He watched in utter delight as the rear of the ungainly craft actually caught fire, watching the flames burn their way toward the front of the craft, blackening the 'hull' of the ship and doubtlessly burning alive any crew caught in the afflicted area.
The mental image of the repulsive creatures spontaneously combusting and thrashing about in flames caused a grin to break out on his face, soon followed by laughter which could generously be described as insane. "Can you feel it, you bastards?" he uttered in between bouts of that creepy laughter. "Can you feel the pain of your flesh being seared before your very eyes, your very bones blackening, your organs liquefying? Can you feel the terror of being powerless to stop it? Now you have some taste of her pain!"
Throughout the tirade, if the bridge crew was at all disturbed by their captain's behavior, they made no indication of it. They merely continued to work at their stations, communicating regular reports to one another as if nothing out of the ordinary was occurring.
To them, this behavior was very much normal for Captain Nakakami. In fact, they'd be worried if he didn't do this every time. Almost none of the crew knew who this mysterious "her" he kept referring to was, but whoever it was, they had no doubt that she had been very important to him, and that whatever the Zilart, or the Gnosis, had done to her, that event had cost the captain his sanity whenever he was observing destruction applied to either of the two races.
While the captain was busy in his usual behavior, a junior officer approached William. "Commander, sensors report a ship approaching from our aft, Destroyer-size or better."
"A ship?" William asked. "An actual ship? Not another Zilart craft?"
"No, sir, an actual ship."
The second-in-command of the Intrepid nodded. "Very well. Send them a routine communication informing them we're in the process of mopping up a Zilart convoy, and warn them about the Ession mines we've seeded the area with. Recommend that they not attempt to enter hyperspace until they've cleared one hundred thousand kilometers from our current position."
"Right away, sir."
(EDIT: okay, i came up with a better name for my character. okay, so i used KOTOR 2's random name generator, but regardless. new name is Vynn Hano. edit on m'profile plz)

(I suppose since you're doing it to, might as well get in on the fun!)
~Music: Xenosaga Episode I: Der Wille zur Macht - Disc 1: Gnosis "Ma'am, we're being sent a direct communication line from the battle ahead of us... do you accept?" Called out the 100-series furthest from her.
For some reason Hikari twitched, she stepped backwards to make it look like a willed body function. "Is it from...the Zilart themselves?"
"No ma'am! The incoming transmission is coming from a vessel ship."
'So it is humans fighting Zilart...' Hikari looked down feeling the blood rush to her head, if they were too close to the battle it was probably likely that they would get caught up in it... or even worse a mass Gnosis gate out could occur. "Open the channel."
"Yes ma'am!"
A large holographic screen appeared before them, with the face of a young man appeared, his mouth opened, but Hikari was faster. "This is Captain Eyanami of the Eldridge, we are currently 47 kilometers from your current position. At this current time our readings are picking up a Zilart Battle, as we are currently worried about your safety as well. I must confess the safety of my crew is at my top priorty. The Ethrinill is in need of repairs, and we are currently transporting top secret cargo. Entering hyperspace is currently out of the question at this time."
Hikari paused looking down at the panel before her. Currently all waves were normal besides the ripples of energy that were coming from the battle before them. She looked back up at the young man, "I ask that you make haste with your battle."
--------------------------------------------------- ~Music: Xenosaga Episode III: Also Sprach Zarathustra - Disc 2: Hepatica#2 (KOS-MOS) (Unknown)
How long has it been?
The darkness surrounded her, even though she could not feel the temperature changes in the atmosphere, she couldn't help but feel cold. She did not move, only laid there her body feeling heavy.
I feel... She paused in her thoughts and felt some what something of an electric jolt through her spine. Her body did not jerk about, but she for some reason felt alot better. I remember... it was all for her. She paused and thought a while.
I remember, it was all for him too. And everyone else...for there sake.
For a moment her eyes opened and she could see nothing but a bright blue light in front of her and then she closed her eyes once more remembering floating weightlessly in a sea of stars, and some words she had breathed to a soft gentle voice. 'Good Night' She smiled softly to herself and opened her eyes once more to see the light still lingering there. Then closed them once more, "I am..."
She saw the picture of a woman with lovely dark brown hair and bright turquoise eyes, she was pretty. Her hair was pulled out of her face with two braids on each side of her head and she wore a gold and purple uniform. "Good Morning, KOS-MOS." The image faded.
"Good Morning, Shion."
"KOS-MOS!" Shion's voice rang out in her head.
"My body...I can feel it"
