Umo felt old. Even for only being a father for a short while made him feel immensly older. Matured. Older. He sat; his tail curled around his front legs; head high. He enjoyed it here in the swamp; now that he had spent some time here with Kika and Kina. Though he did not feel much like a pride member here; nor at the Kusini Mwenzi. He was just, Umo. He shook his mane; looking into the sky for a solemn moment. He was deep in thought. His mind was towards Kinamasi. Her future. Umo was so glad... that Kina had not grown to what he feared. That small fear of; his fathers genes becoming his childrens main personality traits. He shook his head with a nervous snort. He was so... very glad that Kina didn't obtain the very thing he feared.
He lay down, his head upon his paws with a sigh. How very glad he was.

Kinamasi had growl, just a little but still, she was starting to show sighns of becoming a grown up lioness. Her legs were longer, though gangly and her body had slimed out a bit, she had less of that cubby fat which she had been holding on to due to being the only cub of her mother and fathers. She padded through the swamp on confident paws, her head held high her tail swaying back and forth, her deep red eyes glistening in the murky sunlight which the swamp filtered through it's strange foggy mist.
Swaying her tail, the strangely marked female hobbled through the fog finding her fathers dark form easily amongst the reeds of the lands she had been born in to and named after. "Hi daddy" she called, pausing for a moment and holding up her game leg, she needed to rest it more often these days but that didn't stop her playing in the least! "I was looking for you!" she giggles hopping up to him avoiding putting her paw on the ground as she did so. "mama says she's going out for lunch" she giggles a bit "she said she felt like zebra" grinning the little liones splonked herslef inbetween ehr fathers fromt paws.

Umo lifted his head to hum a small jingle, his claws scratching on the dirt that was slightly damp from the swamplands. His tail flicked slighty at the tip, his crimson eyes blinking tiredly. He felt a nap coming on soon during the day, after all this dark mugginess of the swamps made him... well sleepy. He rubbed his head against his front paws before he heard the padding of someone he knew. He turned his head to see Kinamasi, his daughter walking towards him. He had to admire how stricking she was becoming; a true daughter of Kikawaida. He smiled, lifting his head up. "Hello Kina! How are you doing today? Getting so big, you might stand taller than your mother soon, huh?" He asked, his voice flat as ever, though his face was alight with joy.
How could he had ever had those worries and those doubts about how she would be. He licked the top of her head with his big pink tongue; his eyes shut happily. "Did she now? Well, I suppose Frogs get old after a while, do they not?

Kinamasi smiled lightly, she was glad her father was noticing she was groing up. It wouldn't be long before she would be able to do what ever she wanted. Taking a deep, cleansing breath and sucking the air through her teeth she sat at her fathers paws and looked up at him "Dad, what will mum say when i leave?" She blinked, she wasn't one to be subtle about these things. She wanted to know what her father thought. She didn't want to stay in the swamsps forever and with her starting to mature now, she was ready to see the world.
Still she was worried about what her mother would think.

Umo smiled down at his growing daughter; his crimson eyes alight with his pride for both her and her sharp mind. He could see her running with a mate someday.... but for now he was going to enjoy his child. He bent down to knudge Kina into a sit; his tongue licking the top of her head quickly. "Well Kina... the true person to ask is your mother.... but I think she will... have a hard time at first. If you were to just... leave and never visit it might hurt her badly... but... I suppose if you were safe... we would both be at ease." He said, trying not to sound like a nervous father. He could tell Kika might be a bit... protective. That and Mku. (*gonk*) He'd probbly be upset too. But a child must leave at one point or anouther.
Umo sighed and rubbed the top of Kina's head with his paw. "I do not know Kina... but... I think I would like to discuss with your mother; perhaps having more children... so the transisition can be easier." he said with a shrug. "

Taking a deep breath the little female's brow creased unhappily. "Mother told me the spirits made my foot bad" it was quite a sudden statement the ruby eyed female turned her gaze to the ground. "I don't hear them Mother says she used to hear them all the time though they quietened when the pride reappeared." Shaking her head the young female turned her gaze back to her father looking determined. "I want to see the world father, i don't want to be in the swamps forever" she paused licking her lips. "Will you help me tell mother that?" She smiled weakly "I don't know why I have a bad leg..but..but I don't care I beleive the spirits will guide me on my path. and my path is out there" she smiled lightly "you'll help me convince mother, won't you?"

Umo looked down to his daugther with a serious look, he stood and walked closer too her. How to explain his opinion about what Kina was experianceing. He bit his lip; before he looked to her with a smile. "Well, Kina. Your mother is so faithful too the spirits. She has grown up with them. They were all she had at one point." He said, looking sad. "She believes that the spirits have done this too your leg because she left the swamps and found me." He said, looking too her. "You are coming too the age that you want to wander, and I understand but your mother might not."
"I cannot tell you for sure what your mother will say or feel... but I will help you along the way Kinamasi. I love you too much see you unhappy trapped here.

Kinamasi smiled, she was glad her father understood her predicament. Nuzzling in to his chest she sighed lightly her ears flattened tightly against her head. "I don't want mother to hate me, she'll understand won't she?" she sighed heavily, she had a feeling her mother wouldn't want ehr to leave, Kikawaida always seemed so set on staying in the swamps forever. She however didn't want to be here forever she wanted to see the world, see the wonderful things around her. see new things, new prides new lands.
Something beside the swamps.

Umo bent and knudged his daughter with a warm smile and a slight gurgle of his throat. He knew Kika was attached to their daughter very much, since she was their first child. It would be difficult for Umo to see their child off when the time came. He would be... lonely without her. He shook his head to leave these thoughts, looking down. "She will never hate you Kina. Your mother loves you for who you are and not for what you do. Even if you were to leave and never come back, in her heart she could never ever hate you. Neither could I." He said, looking proudly down at his daughter.
"Kina. I have been meaning to talk to you about something... something that had frightened me that.. could have happened when you were first born." he said, looking down. "I have never really told you of my old pride, have I?

Kinamasi smiled lightly as her father spoke of how her mother couldn't possibly hate her, it took a weight off her shoulders. Curling between her fathers paws she puurred happily "Thankyou daddy" she whispers closing her ruby eyes for a long moment to listen to his words.
Upon mention of his old pride though the little femme lifted her head curiously "No, you have never told me, what was it like?" she whispers even more curious now as to what ehr father had to say, she had never ehard him speak of his old pride. Certainly he had never spoken of his time before her mother even. What could possibly worry him about a pride after all?

Umo breathed lightly; looking too his daughter with a look of... perhaps distaste. He had never really spoken to anyone about his worries with children. Clearing his throat; he began. "When I was younger, just a bit older than you. I left my pride because I did not agree to what their rules were. They did not love like I love your mother and you. They loved because they had too. I love because I wanted too. I left, because I was an outkast due to the way I speak. I left because I would not be able to love your mother the way she truely needs to be loved." He said, getting a dazed look on his face.
"I was worried that when you were born... whether you would be like I was supposed to be... with a disrespect for others and a hatred." He said nuzzling her with a worried look. "Kina; I fear you will never know how happy I am that you are the way you are.

The cub smiled softly, her deep red eyes curious, it sounded a very unusual place. "The swamps wouldn't allow such a thing father." Nudging his heavy foot lightly she sighed lightly. "The spirits may not always aggree with us but they love us and make us who we are" Wrinkling her nose at her big, careing father she grinned happily.
"I could never hate those around me . not with parents like you" she giggled still feeling a little confused as to why her father would expect ehr to be like that. She was a chikld of the spirit talkers, she wasn't likely to be mean, it just wasn't in their blood.

Umo smiled down at his child, reaching over with a paw to pat her on the head lightly. His love for his daughter, the child of his body and soul, was not like he feared she would be. He bent down to kiss the top of her head. "I know Kina, that is why I love you and your mother so much." He said, nuzzling her softly with his head; his tail twitching at the tip. "Both you and your mother are the most important things to me" He said, with a smile on his face.
Looking back down, he spoke again. "It is not your nature to be mean, I know."

Kinamasi sighed lightly and curled between her fathers paws, she always enjoyed the attention from her large dark father. She couldn't deny that. Smiling sweetly the dark swampie lion nuzzled her fathers paws playfully.
"Plus you know the spirits would kick anyones a** who upset the balance of things!" she giggles looking up at her crimson eyed father with a grin. She respected and loved the spirits, they were a part of her upbringing, but she was less serious than her mother, she liked to play to laugh and to joke. Perhaps these were the results of a loving family.

Umo smiled down at his daughter, amazed at how much more bigger shew as compared to when she was younger and lay by his feet. He could not admit it, but he would probbably spoil Kina until his dying days. He bent down to nuzzle Kina; his love for his child great in size and very apparent. Umo balked at Kina's words. "Kina." He said with a laugh, "Such words for such a small girl. Your mother would agree, just not in the same words."
Umo had a respect for the spirits; though not as much as Kika. He had never grown up with them over his shoulder. Since Kika opened his eyes to them; he did not understant them. "They would certainly give someone the heads up; huh?
