Mommy! Name: Janice Rosehald Nicks: Jace Age: 21 years Born: September 25th Height: 5"8' Appearance: Tall and solemn looking. Jace's features are very angular. Her face is narrow with a pointed chin, strong nose, and her limbs are long with equally long and delicate fingers on both hands. She has a semidark complexion and a waterfall of dark brown hair that falls to about the middle of her back, the ends curly and often tangled together. Her eyes are gray. Personality: It's the rare occasion when Jace smiles - normally she looks either very morose or very pensive, depending on who you are. Her tendency not to talk much has gotten her confused for being simpleminded. But no. She's more observer than socializer and on the shy side. If nothing else she's good at reading people and is always the first to be a solid shoulder to lean on, even if the person didn't realize they needed one. History (brief): Originally, Jace came from the Pokemon world. She was adopted by a family living in Saffron City as a toddler. Her sister Arie found a way into Gaia, and she only followed within this year. So far it's been a lonely trek - Penny, though an added trouble, helps with the loneliness. Or acquaintances. Whatevuh. Penny thinks Duke's coloring is completely AWESOME. Not as cool as something colorful, but still...fascinating as anything. Hunter's hair *__* 'nuff said. EEE. Furry! Akilah isn't colorful at all, but he DID talk to her, which makes up for it (attentionyay).

Takahe are a colorful, flightless bird native to New Zealand. For a while the bird was actually thought to be extinct. Deer had overpopulated their habitat and eaten the grasses there, and soon...there weren't any takahe to be seen. Only 4 official sightings were recorded in the last century. After a carefully planned search, the bird was rediscovered by Geoffrey B. Orbell in the alpine tussock grasslands of the Murchison Mountains, Fiordland, near Lake Te Anau. After their discovery the area was set aside for their conservation as a national park. Still, they're very rare, numbering in a couple of hundreds. Which is a shame for such a fascinating bird. At about 63cm it's the largest living member of the Rallidae (rails). They have massive bills and strong legs to make up for their flightlessness. Adults are mainly purple-blue with a greenish back, red frontal shield, pink bill and legs. The females are slightly smaller. Young birds are less colorful with mainly pale brown plumage. This is a noisy species with a loud clowp call. Takahe eat a wide range of plant food, especially snow grass - they can be seen to pluck a stalk, taking it into one claw and eating only the soft lower parts which is a favorite food. Their diet is observed to be similar to that of the pukeko. Seeds, berries, herbs, tussock grass...parents will feed invertebrates to young chicks to give them more protein.
