This post will have massive spoilers for those who have not completed the game. Please notice this.
You see, look at the final boss of FF7. When he transforms, he grows many wings onto his body. Something very interesting happens when he transforms, along with the fact that he becomes a Seraph, an angel of great power.
His right arm is replaced with a dark, purple wing. Although he has many wings along with it, this wing is the one that sticks out the most. That is why he is considered the "One Winged Angel."
A play on this is used in his non-canonical appearance in Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2. When you fight him as a sub/extra boss, he does not fight as a normal human, although you cannot really call him that. On his back is the very same wing that he had in FF7, allowing him to fly and move even more swiftly than before.
So, that's basically all the information I have on Sephiroth being the "One Winged Angel." For more information, check out Wikipedia or someone with better knowledge of Sephiroth Crescent.

I never beet the game but i new about the wing's for ive lost at that battle many many times.

i have no idea why sephiroth has one wing but it is cool and his theme song, One-Winged Angel, rocks my world.

has any one seen th e second movie the somethin children well in the final fight betwen cloud a sepiroth is a very destructiv and intense battle now what i dont ge is cloud has the power to fly in this movie and sepiroth has a huge-mungess katana and i just get so mixed up in how they get these things

ceberes oh and i never heard of ceberus in the FF serious can some one tell me where he came from dude!! cerberus is from Hercules the movie as a pet of wats his name? i dont remember his name right now.

The pet of Hades. Lord of the Underworld. And Cerberus dated back much farther than just that movie. Its been a part of Greek mythology for a long, long time now. Its a gargantuan three-deaded dog with a snake for a tail that guards the gates to Hades, or the Greek underworld. So pretty much, given it has a mythological background, it was going to end up in FF in some way shape or form, and it has been since it first showed up as a common enemy in one of the earlier games.

Ok people for all of you who dont know
yes Sephiroths theme song is called the one winnged Angel
but He is also called the one winged angel becouse du to that fact that he has one winges... and
if you played Kingdom hearts in the first games Cloud had one wing...
witch if you dont know the meaning between this it mean that
they are one in the same but still
very diffrent......
Now, wher Cloud Stryf got the awsome abbility to fly... he didn't, he is not flying he is Jumping with the help of his sword, if you notice in the movie he will stick his sword in obbject and jump of them.
and as wher Sephiroth got his big monster sword, I dont know the origins of that, but I know he did have that when Him, cloud, and Zach wer in the Shinra SOLDIERS.
