So I was just reading through my magazine when I see a blurb that says there is going to be a 2007 remake of Hairspray. Interesting, I think. Then I see who's playing Link.
Zac Efron, that jock kid from HSM. For those who have not seen my thread, I HATE HSM. But that has nothing to do with this, because, for all I know, this Zac guy might have some talent under it all. But...he's not Link! He's not what a Link is supposed to look like! Why did they have to choose him?
Your thoughts, please.

*Eye twitches* He's a decent actor, but I'm extremely interested to see how they can make him fit that character.

It took me a minute to riddle out that "HSM" stood for High School Musical.
Anyway, I'm more concerned with John Travolta playing Edna. I just *cannot* see it working.

The reason behind it is more than likely the producers banking on the pull casting him will have on the population obsessed with High School Musical (that being 75% of people aged 14 and under). There are some movies coming up where the cast is cast about 50% good and 50% you can't really tell until you've seen it. Like John Travolta, who was the very 1st person cast for this. I agree with Pensive where I don't see him as Edna Turnblad. However, be glad about the fact that they didn't cast Usher as Seaweed.

WHAT?!?!?! Why can't Harvey Fierstein play that role again? Amanda Bynes is playing Penny. She can play the ditz pretty well, but can she belt the song when she needs to?

*panics looking around* John Travolta? Amanda Bynes? What's wrong with these casting people?!? They're turning what could be a perfectly decent remake into a spin-off HSM!
Speaking of which, they're going to start filming HSM 2 soon. *feels incredibly ill*

Well I am excited for the movie, but I'm a little iffy about Zac Effron being in it. But John Travolta and Queen LaTifa are in it too, and so if Amanda Bynes, so it won't be too bad!

Disney has a bad habit of milking money out of kids by making sequel upon sequel, most of which go straight to DVD

I wanna see it, just so I can get an idea of what this musical is like... since I haven't seen it yet.
The cast seems kinda iffy... but I'm like the idea of Queen Latifa as Motormouth....
