Tamariku had been hearing rumors of Nyekundu and his plans, and the slave wondered what was in store for himself and his family. He currently sat atop of a large rock overlooking the pond in the oasis, his two-toned eyes scanning the area for other lions. He hoped he could escape with his family soon.
With a flick of his tail the adolescant lifted himself off the rock and padded over to the water, lapping it up with his pink tongue. His mind was still abuzz with all the events that had been happening, and he wondered if Rukiya was alright. She stunk of Nyek and he wondered what the older lions plan was. Riku tried to keep the pink lioness from his mind, but he silently vowed he'd help her out if he could.
As the adolescant made his way back towards the hidden den where him and his family stayed, he looked around, making sure no one was watching him. The last thing he wanted was for Nyek or one of his spies to find out where they were.

Of course Nyekundu already knew wheer Tamariku was hiding, He grudged what he was about to do but if it meant seeing Rukiya break under his gaze at last he would do it. Stpud girl, letting her little lover escape. Rolling his golden eyes the large blak maned lion lay upon one a flat rock and yawned "I have a gift for you tamariku" He called after the young male a smirk raising on his maw as he awaited theoddly patterned male to turn. He was already broed of this game. Tamariku andhis little family were useless to him if the one he had marked as general would not even follow his oirders. Loyalty meant nothing to this boy.
Silently the salmon male waited for Tamariku to turn, his own lips were turned in a sneer "bring out your family. I will only ask once"

As the chilling voice hit Rikus ears, the words carrying a sinister meaning in them, he stopped short. Damn it all! Nyek already knew about his family. He held his head high up as he turned around slowly, eyes flashign with hate and anger. An overwhelming need to protect Kichea and the cubs overcame him, and he felt almost faint with it.
"What do you want, Nyek?" He said, standing his ground and ignoring the order. "I will not subject my children to one such as yourself." Riku knew the words would just agitate the larger male, and maybe cause him to get a few new scars, but he didn't care. He wanted to protect his family with every fiber of his being.

The young lioness had been taking a nap with her cubs in the den when they had both arrived outside the entrance. Kichea's ear twitched with the new sounds breaking the silence of her cubs and her slumber. She shivered a bit and her eyes opened slowly. Was that Nyek's voice? What a nightmare... Content with it being just a dream she pulled her cubs closer and began to drift again.
Suddenly her eyes opened wide as she heard that voice again. It couldn't be... could it? Her ears folded flat as she heard Riku's growl. It is... She took a deep, shaky breath and gently began pulling her cubs deeper into the cave. Finding their bed of brush they had taken from outside she began to softly cover the sleeping babes with leaves and grass. Once she was content that they were well hidden she began to crawl towards the entrance. Leaving the cubs probably wasn't one of her smarter moves but she had to know what was going on.
As she reached the entrance she cautiously stuck her head out just enough to see a few feet ahead. Her ears were pressed tightly against her head and she shook softly with fear and discomfort. She could normally hold strong in situations like this but thoughts racing though her head made her feel weak and helpless. She didn't care what he did to her, so long as he didn't touch the cubs or Riku.

Nyekundu rolled his eyes stretching out his claws. "I don't have time for this Tamariku" He stated simply, standing he leapt down from the rock he was stood upon. "If you wish to stay here your entire lives just stand there and look like a fool, take heed that I have granted you clemancey. I do not need little fools and their jackass love fests within this pride. Your cubs are useless to me tamariku" His fangs flashed pale and bright in the sun baked oasis his golden orbs flashing angrilly "Collect your family i will not wait for you forever. if you prefare that i collect them myself and dump them in the jungle, continue to stand theer and I will tear through you to get to them." His vocie was calm, though full of irritation at the idiocy of this young male.
He had promsied to take Rikus family out of the oasis, noone sauid anything about riku himself. if he wanted to act the hero, he could continue standing in his way and be ripped up and left to bleed to death. "Well? Do I have to tell you again or do I need to go in theer and take them?" His fangs gnashed angrilly, his paiotence was wearing thin. "Move!"

Rikus first reaction was a growl, it started low in his throat and his lip twitched up as he began to snarl at the lion before him. But when the news of leading them to the jungle reached Rikus ears, it took a moment for it to register. Lead them to the jungle? To his family? Away from here... forever? Riku found this too good to be true, but his growl and snarl stopped as he watched Nyek. He didn't move however, he wanted more information.
"Kichea!" Riku called, his voice holding a finality that was never there before. "Come out with the cubs, we have a visitor." He spoke with a regakl tone befitting a king.
The young mals eyes went back to Nyek, both filled with hate and curiousity. "Alright Nyek. What's the deal? What do you get out of this?"
At the sound of her fathers voice, Tui'lian poked her head up out of the confines of the grass bed inside their den. She smiled, another new day had dawned! She wondered if her parents would take her and her brother out of the den, she was young but she had noticed their hesitancy to do so. The young cub sprang from bed, smacking her brothers head with a paw as she did, and ran to the enterance, spotting her mother standing there.
"Momma? What's going...on?" Tui sniffed the air; there was a new scent around them. With a curious mew, the baby waddled to her mothers side and tried to peek over the ledge like she was, wanting to know what this strange new presence was.

Kichea watched silently and slid back into their den with Riku's order, pulling Tui back down by the scruff on her neck. She didn't particularly care for the way he said what he did. If she hadn't known in her heart he was just trying to protect them, she might have ignored him all together. Shaking it off and trying to wipe the worry from her face she picked up the golden cub and took her to the back of the cave so she could grab the both of them. Gently setting her on their bed where Nakawa still laid, she spoke sweetly. "We are just going outside for a little fresh air, Hun. Don't worry about a thing, I'll tell you when it's ok to start worrying. Understand?" Kichea managed another weak smile, licked them both on the forehead and scooped them up in her mouth. Luckily they were both still somewhat small but it was never the less hard to carry them both. She had to stop every few feet to get a better grip of them, so that they didn't fall.
As she reached the entrance her breath quivered a bit and her ears flattened again. She paused just before it, as her tail twitched nervously behind her, wondering if she really should leave the safety. Finally without another choice she lowered her head and moved cautiously out of the den and stood, holding tightly onto her cubs, waiting for another command. She knew one wrong move could change things for the worse and she wasn't about to take that chance with her babes.
Nakawa awoke from his deep sleep abruptly when his sister's paw landed in his face. He stood stretching lazily and shook the grass off his fur. It only took another moment for the faint sunlight to touch his eyes and feeling it was much to early he flopped back down. As he dreamt his mind had wandered to the outside world and what he imagined everything out there looked like. Of course quite a few things were far fetched but he was loving what he imagined. Suddenly his dreams were interrupted but a quick kiss from his mother and a hasty lift into her mouth. I'm being eaten! His eyes opened wide with shock at the quick turn of events. It took a few moments but he did eventually figure out what was going on, but he had far from calmed down. Nakawa wiggled and pushed as much as he could trying to escape his mother's grip. He hated being carried that way. It was like a bath but much worse.

Nyekundu smirked as he looked at the two little cubs. Shame he was releasing a male. Any son of Riku's though would no doubt turn out as soft as he was. Fools, he was supposed to be loyal. He growled quietly his golden gaze flickering to the mark on the young males shoulder. Some general. "I have my reasons tamariku and none of them concern you!" He snapped turning away from the little happy family "Move I'm not waiting for you to have your little chatter." He paused for a moment his gaze turning on Kichea with a laugh "You should consider your selves lucky you have a little guardien angel." He snorted andstarted padding away. Nyek waited for no lion, if they wanted to stay he would not return for them a second time.

Tamariku watched the large lion as he walked away. He was unsure of what to do, this could easily be a trick to capture - or even kill - the cubs. He glanced to Kichea with an unsure look in his eyes. As Nyek began to get farther away, Riku scooped up his daughter in his mouth and motioned Kichea to follow. "Don't worry. If anything happens, or if things seem to be fishy, just run love." He said and nuzzled his mate tenderly for a moment. He then trotted along to ctch up with Nyek, Tui swinging back and forth from his mouth. Riku walked behind the lion, making sure he couldn't turn and snatch Tui from him.
Tui'lian swung from her fathers mouth, watching the strange lion as he walked away. Where were they going? She wondered, but she kept silent, suddenly afraid of the lion ahead of them. He didn't seem very nice.

Kichea managed a weak smile, as Riku took a cub and gave her reassurance. Her ears were still held flat with worry, although she no longer shook with fear, she still wasn't in favor the turn of events. She sighed leaning into his nuzzle and sat for a moment watching him catch up with Nyek. “But… Things are already fishy…” She whispered almost in a whine. Still holding Nakawa in her mouth she gave a hasty glance behind her as if deciding whether to run or not. Her heart was beating quickly and she was quivered a bit scared again. The last two times she had listened to Nyekundu she was hurt but, Riku would never do that would he? Finally with another shaky breath, she stood and quickly caught up with them. “What did you mean by guardian angel?... And where exactly are we going?” Kichea whispered wanting an answer but almost wishing nobody would hear.
Nakawa stopped moving for a moment to take in his surroundings. He could smell the tension among the adults but didn‘t question it. All of it was a bit confusing. He waited patiently as he watched his father take his sister away. It was all the more confusing having his mother swing him as she looked back. Why don‘t you follow them, Momma? Finally, she began to move but upon feeling his mothers shaky breath on his fur, he started to quietly squeal with discomfort and paw at her mouth, hoping she would let go like she would in the past. He didn‘t like what was going on and didn‘t want any part of it.

Nyekundu did not turn he had no wont to answer that question and they had no right to pry in to HIS buisness. "That is none of your concern, continue questioning me I might just change my mind" His voice was solid, sound, though if they could see his eyes he was clearly smirking. The fear that brushed to his nostrils made him heave a long breathy sigh of releif. At least this little trip was providing one thing. He was scareing them, he did so enjoy the thought of being a fear monger. Continuing onwards, nyekundu looked to the slowly tsetting sun. Soon enough his toes touched sand andhe was away accross the desert without a moments hesitation, he wanted this over with.
Still a trip to the jungle would be a bit of a change it would give him time to get out and scout some areas hehad been meaning to look in to. The pride lands for one. Flickering his tail, he never looked back. Why would he? if they did not follow that was their loss. He was keeping a promise one that was breaking somone else. How he loved the tangled web that these two little love birds had caused.

"Alright, don't answer us." Riku said with a shrug. He walked next to Kichea, Tui swinging back and forth from his mouth. He hated that his family was so scared, but he was curious to no end about Nyek. Was he really trying to help them? And what was that comment bout a guardian angel? Who was he talking about? Questions rolled through the young lions mind one after another, until his mind was so busy he didn't even notice they were going towards the jungle. His home land.
Tui'lian hung from her fathers mouth quietly, and she glanced to her brother for moment. Her eyes were questioning, she was afraid, and as usual she looked to Naka for reassurance and answers. She was a strong soul, but when it came to scary things like this she liked having her brother around.

Kichea sighed softly and moved silently alongside of Riku. His love gave her strength and helped her move forward although she was tempted to turn and run. What was it that made her fear Nyek so... She used to be so strong under hard situations and now she felt weak and helpless. Maybe it was because she had four hearts to worry about losing instead of just one. Her golden eyes had drifted into the horizon with thought, when she finally noticed they were walking on sand. She glanced over to Riku and then softly nudged him with her head. Is that were they were going... home?
Nakawa had finally giving up on fighting his mothers grip. She hadn't even taken notice to all of his efforts to get free. He glanced around him with curiosity, still with great wonder of what was going on, when he noticed his sister. He could see it in her eyes that she was scared and lost with everything going on. Lifting his shoulders as much as he could he managed a shrug. He would have encouraged her to not be sad but it seemed like every time someone's mouth opened that big white one growled. But he had to do something more, quickly he managed a trusting smile and licked the air before him pretending to give her a kiss. Maybe that would help... It always made him feel better anyway.

The salmon tinted male padded onwards, he was silent for a long timehis footsteps vanishing in the sands. The mans oasis was a place that hardly anyone could get to, you had to watch the stars. Nyekundu had learned long ago you could walkinthe other direction fromt he jungle for days without finding water or a safe haven. He hoped if any slave attempted to escape they would run in to the desert, let them die out there. he smirked his ears twitching as he listened to the quiet noises of cubs behind him.
Dawn shifted ont he horizon by th time the jungle came in to sight it's dark green outline flickering before their eyes. The dark maned lored had not stopped as hecrossed the desert, he care dnot if they dropped a cub or stumbled he simply kept going. If they died out heer he had still technically let them go.
Dark toes came in to contact with the green undergrowth as the sun kissed the trees turning the darkness to a dappled red green of sunrise. At last the pale lord paused and turned to the little family with a smirk. "count your selves lucky. I was in a good mood" with that said Nyekundu turned and started paddign away "Do not follow me." his last words as he dissapeared in to the undergrowth. Hios job was done now it was time to go scouting.

Tamariku watched as his mate sulked beside him, and he felt her pain. Being the father and male of the small family, he felt it was his responsibilty to tke care of all of them. He wondered where they were going, and when the jungle came into view he felt a surging relief inside himself, as if a giant weight had been lifted from him. A tear ran down his cheek, soaking his daughters shoulder. They were going home.
As Nyekundu turned and left, Riku watched him go with no real feeling inside him. He was glad to see the lion go, but he was lso curious as to why he let them go. He pushed the thought side and looked to Kichea, smiling he set Tui down gently on the grass. "Kichea... This is the jungle. This is where my family and pride are. We're... going home."
Tui'lian glanced up at her father, cocking her head to the side. Why was daddy crying? She didn't think adults cried. They were always so strong and brave. Glancing to her brother she smiled slightly at his attempt to cheer her. As her father set her down, Tui wtched the large lion as he walked away. She was glad to see him go, she didn't like the smell of him. But she did like the new smells that assaulted her senses as she looked up at the large trees standing before them. She could feel a cool breeze, and the air was much more moist than in the desert. "Mommy, where are we?"
