You know the fanservice is obvious when your older brother and his best friend- neither of which like any kind of slashiness of the BL variety (or any other kind as far as I know) and are straight- recognize the lurrrve in Kingdom Hearts Two.

No spoilers here, though they are rather vague, but I will white it out.

This basic conversation ensued during a certain scene.

This is when Sora finds Riku again, and the commentary that followed by me and my brother and his friend.

Me: ...And this is the part where Sora cries like a three year old girl.
Brother's friend: Wait... he cries for Riku and not for Kairi?
Me: Yep.
Brother's friend: That's... so gay.
Brother: Well, Sora's bi and Riku's just flat out gay, soo...

And during the part where they're on the beach in the World That Never Was, where Sora carried Riku (and his hand was dangerously close to Riku's hind end...)

Brother: WATCH HIS HANDS, RIKU!

And then there were random shouts of "I wish I could quit you!" throughout the whole ending cut scene during inspecific parts.

Has anything like this happened to you? Has the slash become so obvious that even the NON slash fans recognize it? I mean, with some things, especially anime, fangirls can make slashy moments out of the fact that they were in the same ROOM together. But usually the non-slash fans are completely and utterly oblivous about the lovin'. When the non-slash fans recognize it, don't you think that it's more than just a little obvious?

Now, don't get me wrong. I like Sora and Riku as friends and as a more intimate relationship. I'm not one of those girls that say "WHATDOYOUMEANTHEY'REJUSTFRIENDSZOMGZOMGZOMG!" Same goes for Axel and Roxas. I think the relationship between them is beautiful whether it is friendship or as lovers. Either way it's touching.

But... Well...

When it's THAT noticeable...

Haha, my friends and I have had relatively similiar conversations before. More specifically when they're just staring at that scene with the looked of a priceless "WTF..."

It is painfully obvious. With people's minds today, nothing they say or do in KH2 (hey that rhymed!) can be taken as "just friends" to most people >_O

I think it's because no one is used to males acting so intimately, even on a platonic level. Especially in America, where we have the whole emphasis on "ZOMGYOUTOUCHEDHISSHOULDERURGAY" when it comes to male bonding or whatever.

And yet it's perfectly okay to slap each other's asses during a basketball game or something. *shrug* I have no idea.

Which is one reason I'm hung up on Kingdom Hearts. It's the only video game that I can sit there and state why they're gay with my entire family there, and they agree with me. :>

It's like family bonding over and extremely gay, but still not all the way gay, game. :D

I've heard stories of many-a-mom or dad questioning what what going down with Axel and Roxas at Axel's...death scene.

My brother and his friends who play the game all agree: Axel is gay for Roxas. Sora is bi for Riku. Riku is gay for Sora. And Roxas... well he's prolly asexual but he's gay for Axel too. *laugh*

Not that those suspisions are substantial or anything, oh no... wink

OMG, my dad did that. sweatdrop He came in my room at that exact moment and stayed there to listen for a while, and he kept doing this 'W...T...F...?' look. It was so funny. rofl I told him about Riku and Sora, and he just walked away. xd
