Heh. This first one is called "The Player", and it's based on "The Fiddler on the Green" by the band Demons and Wizards. This could be somewhat called plagiarised, but this is still my own work.

One morning, she left with a smile
How bitter that break of dawn
She went to the fields to see the flowers
The lilies that held her doom
The daisies that heralded the end of that girl
Filled with joy, she glided down
Innocent and pure

Seeing as she arrived, a lone figure
He wore a dark cloak, a cowl hiding his face
In his hands he held an old violin
And instrument of beauty indeed
He saw her and held out his hand to her
Palm up, he beckoned to that doomed child

“Come listen to me play for you,” he spoke
The soft words tugged her heart and her body followed
Through flowers that screamed silent warning, she moved
The man put his violin to his chin and brought up the bow
And began to play

With every note, the girl fell deeper
Entranced, her soul throbbing with the music
And the player, he noticed not that with every bridge
Every rise and fall of that beautiful noise
The girl grew paler, sadder
Behind her, a shadow stood and began to take shape
He played on, oblivious – his song so beautiful and sad
Tears flowed down her face, and the sun shone in them
A spasm wracked her, she fell and opened her mouth to scream
But music poured forth from that gaping mouth

As the song drew to a close, the shadow fell
Upon the girl’s body, and faded within it
She stood, but she was not herself
Her face was broken, smashed in
Her beauty gone forever
She stepped forth and reached out to him
And the man, if man he was, handed her the violin
And his robes crumpled to the ground, empty
She donned them herself, and turned to see a young boy
Watching her movements; she held out her hand and spoke
“Come hear my music, child,” she whispered into the wind.

This is called "Sunset of Blood", I particularly LOVE the imagery and suchlike I used in this. Even if it IS emo as hell. sweatdrop

To what end does the sun go down
When we all rise, and watch it bleed
Down into the sea, tainted crimson
With a divine blood, I have seen
And a sweet – and bitter – taste fills my mouth
As the softest temptation of agony writhes
In scarlet ribbon upon the sea, swirling
A black heart scarring still blacker
As the darkest sunset burns through the water
Through the ice like a blade of charred steel
White-hot but frosted with pain of life
As the woodlands fade to shadow slowly behind me
My hand reaches higher, clutches at a ridge of cold stone
And the frigid earth bites into my skin
I slip, and cling to it, and it knifes deeper
Blood stains the new-fallen snow a sick
Mosaic, and still I clutch harder
Feel the rock grind against bone and blood flows freely
Though I don’t care – I climb onwards to the top
Each grasp, each heave leaving a smear of blood upon the rock
And the evening casts a shadow over the land
I step up to the crest, and the birds fall silent
And the birds will sing never again.

A land awash with blood of the sun
Yet none can see, taste, feel it
It is as though it were not there, to you
Just as all else. A blade to the heart, and give it a twist
See what comes out – what there was left inside
If anything but ice? Your cold cruel blade meets it match
And twin within my heart. I stand here, broken and bloody
Atop a mountain of sorrows, and whisper an ungodly prayer to the wind
Fall upon the rocks, and mix the blood of myself with the blood of the sun
One less problem, they would say, if they had ever known me
And as my sight fades, I see the sunset crying for me
And I hear the raven’s ugly cry, my only epitaph
As the last light returns to the darkness, and a bitter taste fills my mouth
And the birds will never sing again.

Hmmm.
I'd say this was amazing, but...
"amazing" doesn't seem to be a strong enough word.
Maybe "Wicked freakin' cool-esque-ness".
Yes, that about sums it up.

Fantastic imagery!

All around... awesome!

(Perhaps I have a slight bias, as I'm obsessed with dark poetry, and y'know, the mentioning of blood smile Yes, call me crazy.

But what's not crazy is that poem.

Awesome.
Completely awesome.

~Zena

Ps. Cross out "Emo" in your description of the poem and I'll love it even more. [Zena attempts not to scoff at the mentioning of "Emo".] XD

So yeah. I wrote these forever ago and just remembered them. Nobody has seen these before, so FEEL HONORED DAMMIT. xd I wouldn't post 'em at all, but Xeru Dreagon convinced me. Just by saying "post them if you want". Heheh...well without further ado..my Elements poems.

Flame

A vision of power
A sight of strength
A raging blaze
Of changing length

What, then, more beautiful then flame?
Dancing to the song of power,
The fiery spires of a moment’s castle
Thinnest blades of purest heat
Too bright to look at, too beautiful to look away
Ashes to ashes indeed, my flame, ignite
Consume all sin and hatred, burn to ash
Caress and kiss them, even as they die
For the sacred flames cleanse all
Nothing withstands the holy blaze
Take sin and sinner, purify
Leave nothing but their ash behind

Ice

A vision of delicacy
A sight of things lost
A crystal’s shine
Of eternal frost

What, then, more beautiful than ice?
Monolithic in its steadfastness
Towers of crystalline cold
Spears of frigid shine
Too cold to touch, too smooth to draw back from
Nothing withstands the sheer cold of the arctic blizzards
Bearing upon them needles of frozen pain
To spear and imprison sin and sinner
Draw them in its cold embrace
Forever caging them in
Freeze the sinners in eternal ice
Never shatter, keep them in

Wind

A breath of life
A touch of gale
A caress of future
A well-spun tale

What, then, more beautiful than wind?
A ceaselessly poetic whisper of things to be
Fleeting, omnipresent clouds of influence
Gales of howling force
Too swift to snatch, too strong to resist
None can stand against the sheer force of wind
Smashing the sinners against unyielding walls
Cracking their bones and releasing the good inside
Bear them aloft and
Never let them return to earth
Take away sin and sinner
Spinning in the hurricanes of eternity

Earth

A grinding rock
A crushing stone
A quake of earth
Leaves good alone

What, then, more beautiful than the earth?
The eternal life-bearing soil
Immobile undying fact of existence
Quake of rock and avalanche
Indestructible force of stone
Nobody can survive the crush of earth
Grinding their bodies to dust and purify them
Bury them forever within the darkness
Of the earthen prison that they deserve
Remove from us the sin and sinners
Lost and forgotten in the bowels of Earth
