At the very edge of the Sin'aeis property, there was a tiny little stream. However, not very many rocks were in this stream. Instead, there were... branches?
Yes, that was because of a graceful Weeping Willow bending over the stream, her roots seeking out and devouring the stream. The water-level was lower than usual, and the poor willow almost seemed... sad.
At least, that's what Lorelei thought. That's why she was out in one of her handmade togas (i.e. bedsheets) with a watering can, watering the roots of the willow tree.
Ilo, her ever-present bauble, was dormant in the grass beside Lorelei's bare ducky feet. He seemed to be basking in the sun, enjoying the feeling of it on his surface.

Jan had spotted Lorelei from afar, watering the mansion's garden. She'd straightened, pale hair falling onto her face, and had set down the house, walking over at a leisurely pace. It had taken maybe five minutes, and as always, she'd brought her guitar. She rarely let the thing out of her sight.
"Lorelei...?"
Uncertaintly creased Jan's brow briefly. They hadn't see each other since they were toddlers, and whereas Lore looked relatively the same, other than being taller and more attractive, Jan looked quite different. Her extreme height being the least of her changes.
Still, hair color, markings, and freckles were the same. Things to identify her by. Jan fell silent, and regarded the willow, expression reflective, if distant.
"Sh' feels lonely."

"You're so good with plants, Jan," apparantly, the freckles had been a big target for the taller Sin'aeis' identity. The duckling didn't show any hesitance, and if she was wrong... well, she'd apologize later.
"I thought that she was just thirsty," Lorelei shrugged, "I guess I'm better with using herbs in my cooking."
After dumping another bucket of water on the willow's roots, she smiled at Jan. It wasn't just a smile, actually, it was more of a giant grin. Though she had been talking to her before, it was like she had just seen the potato girl!
"Hi, Jan!" she beamed, "You've grown too! Wow... you're tall..." Lorelei stared dazedly at Sjajan's height for what seemed like hours before she snapped her jaw back up and skipped over to her bauble.
"Awww... Ilo doesn't like the grass," she pouted, "What a crabcake!"
With that, Lorelei ungracefully plopped in the grass, not caring about her white bedsheets.
"So, how are ya?" she asked, looking back at Jan, "Been writing lots of songs?"

"Ah... Yes, Ah 'ave been..."
Jan gently set her guitar down next to Lorelei's bauble, glad to see another person carried around a supposedly 'inanimate' object, and smiled slightly, one corner of her mouth lifting. She used to grin as brightly as Lorelei, now? Not so much.
"Ya 'llect herbs too, Lore? Ah grow 'em."
Jan was undisturbed by Lorelei's behavior, always had been. She thought the older girl had her own charm, and intelligence that was far more natural than the norm.
"Ilo, eh? Anne loves th' grass."
Yes, she was starting a conversation about their 'toys'.

Lorelei's smile widened (if this was possible) at the mention of Jan's garden.
"You grow herbs?! I try my best to work in my garden, but it's really my older sister, Annabel, who does most of the work."
Her face darkened then, as though she was speaking of a great evil, "Sometimes, though, she thinks that my herbs are weeds, and she pulls them out and throws them in the garbage!"
Lorelei shrugged, "My mom says that it's because Annabel doesn't have one of my ... abi... abilee..."
She wrinkled her nose, trying to pronounce the word 'ability', "... She doesn't have one of my talents. Apparantly I have this weird power to pick out herbs from plants. I didn't think that it'd be that useful... until I started cooking!"
Lorelei squeaked happily when Jan mentioned her guitar's name.
"Anne's such a pretty name! Did she tell it to you, too? One day Ilo randomly started speaking to me... does she talk to you, too?"
She then laughed, and slapped her forehead, "Silly me... she more than likely sings, doesn't she?"

"Yes, she... Sings."
A growing smile brightened Jan's face, and she looked rather interested. She didn't know they had this much in common! What was Jan's talent again...?
"Ah 'stinctively know what plants need."
She could care for them, perfectly.
"Ya shoul' lemme grow ya some herbs. Then they won' git pulled none, Lorelei."
Another pause, and she smild again, warmth radiating from her as she felt accepted.
"Ah grow ev'rythin'."
Herbs, flowers, food... If you could grow it, she tried it.
"Does Ilo talk ta anybody but ya, Lore?"

"Would you do that for me?" Lorelei brightened up almost immediately, like a pansy that had been dying of thirst perking up after being watered, "I have some seeds that you could use... oh... thyme, garlic, alfalfa, ginseng, licorice, aloe vera... well, I know I can't cook with aloe vera, but it's great for burns!"
Lorelei was off ranting about her precious herbs, before she finally remembered Ilo.
"Oh, Ilo! Well... he hasn't talked to anyone else but me yet. He said that you gotta believe..." she shrugged, "But he said that someday he'll be able to show everyone that he really exists. I don't know how, but I can't wait!"

"Ah 'leive. Mebbe He'll talk ta me sometime. Or, talk ta Anne. Mmmn..."
Another bright smile, and she nodded eagerly, reaching out to lightly poke Lorelei's nose.
"Yer REAL smart, ya know that? Yes, I kin grow those for ya. Drop th' seeds in th' Sin kitchen next time yer about, 'n Ancelin'll give 'em to me."
