Yeah, there's supposed to be a question mark up there in the subjectline. It wouldn't fit though.
So. In the book of Revelation, in the Christian bible, John of Patmos sees in his vision "A great star called Wormwood, spreading out over a third of the waters, making them as poison".
And, as some of you may know, there was a terrible tragedy in Chernobyl, Ukraine in 1986, involving a nuclear meltdown. Fallout was visible from Ellis Island.
Now, I don't know the numbers and I don't claim to. But I'd guess that's about a third of the Earth's water surface that was poisoned by the fallout. And the water from wells in the Chernobyl countryside is stil poisonous; if you drink it, you die before you can say "This tastes funny".
The creepy part?
Chernobyl is the Russian word for the wormwood grass.
There may be a number of holes in my argument. As I said I don't know all the facts. I don't know the original Greek for what was written by John, only alternate translations for specific words or phrases. So if I'm wrong, point it out. But back it up also, so I can see the hole myself - arguing's pointless if neither party gains wisdom from it.
