This is an upcoming book called Melting Stones about Rosethorn and Evumeimei's adventures on the Battle Islands. It takes place at about the same time as Will of the Empress. Plant life is dying off in patches and they're trying to figure out what's causing it or something...
And also, that Luvo guy mentioned in Will of the Empress, apparently he's some sort of rock. stare question confused question confused question confused stare
Melting Stones...heh...what a dumb title.

Here's the summary from Tamora Pierce's site: "Residents on one of the Battle Islands south of Emelan have sent a call for help to Winding Circle temple: their plants and trees and the animals who live around them are dying off in patches, for no reason that they can work out. From Winding Circle come two familiar figures: prickly green mage Rosethorn, whose plant magic will help her to decipher what's ailing the plant life on the island, and Briar's former student, the obstreperous stone mage Evumeimei, or Evvy, who is eager to travel once more. With them comes the eager and nervous Dedicate Initiate Myrrhflower, who will help them to communicate with Winding Circle should they need to, and the companion Evvy met while she, Rosethorn, and her former teacher Briar were traveling in distant Yanjing, Luvo, a being who is best described as a walking, intelligent rock. Though supposedly Evvy and Luvo are simply along for the ride, they are pulled into the island's mystery when Evvy is caught up by the wild spirits loose in an immense bubble of molten rock quite close to the surface of the island. What Evvy, Luvo, Rosethorn, and the people of the island can do in the face of a fast-approaching volcano will be anyone's guess. Can they evacuate the island? Or worse--will they try to shift a volcano?"
Personally, I like the title Melting Stones. It does mention "an immense bubble of molten rock" in the summary plus there's also a volcano. The title fits quite well I think.

Moonprincess202 Personally, I like the title Melting Stones. It does mention "an immense bubble of molten rock" in the summary plus there's also a volcano. The title fits quite well I think. *feels dumb* Heheh...oops.

It sounds like we will also get to see the shy/nervous student that Sandry gave her room to at Winding Circle. Or is that a different dedicate mentioned?

We'll probably see a bit of him in the beginning because Evey's at Discipline right now. But the teacher that goes with comas (shy dude) would probably be Lark.

yeah I saw that all they had available for pre-order was the audio version neutral I think this will be a good book but I'd like to see more of what happens to our original 4 characters....
