The wind woke her up. The click of the catch on the window as it swung open. It was still dark. Hopping up to shut the catch she slammed both of them shut. Maybe it was best just to go upstairs and at least lie on a bed. Her back would take the toll for lying on a sofa.
Creeping up each step, she took two at a time with long jumps, her tail swinging behind her to keep balance.
Rubbing her eyes, her expression was sheepish.
Crawling into the room, she shut the door behind her. Whoosh! The wind came at her with a big cold swipe. Maan! Was it have all the windows open day or something? She snorted a bit and went up to the window.
Something stopped her from shutting it however..
It was an odd feeling which overtook. Instead, she sat down on the wooden chair aside the window, and glanced out up into the moon. It was full. And amazingly pretty.
Shuddering a little, she scratched at some of the cuts on her face. Some burst, letting fresh blood trickle. "Ouch.." She cursed underneath her breath and forced both hands down onto her lap.
The moon seemed to grow closer and closer. Her eyes shook. And as did her head moments later. She was too tired. Cursing once more, she squirmed around in the seat. However she couldn't move - something was holding her down. It felt almost like hands, pressing against her arms and legs.
Whispers raged around the room, all chattering amongst themselves. It only developed into a rabble, she could barely make out any of it. Then, just as the moon seemed at its closest point, two shots of light hit her.
A moments pain enveloped her. Screaming, for a few seconds, the light shifted. A kiss almost fell against her cheek, and the voice of Freya; "arise teen Keir..." The voice drifted off, as did the pain -
Keir jerked forward, and pushed her head into hands. It was daylight outside. She was still downstairs on the sofa. Wait! She pushed her hands into view, they were considerably bigger...
Had what she think just happened, happened? But in a dream?!?
Squinting, she dashed through into the bathroom. And the reflection which stared back at her... Wasen't Keir the kid.
It was Keir the teen...
"Face of Kay look like apple," Lethe pointed out worriedly. "Kay sure evil step-mother did not give her any poison?" The young Fa'e turned to stare out the open door and at the steps there. Evil.
"Yani special then, at least," She decided, not taking her eyes off the steps lest they spontaneously produce apples. "Yani think Kay is special?"
She stared down at the little toddler. "So. Let me get this straight. Your saying my face looks like an apple!?" She continued to glare. What a rude little brat... Well... When she wanted to be. Maybe thats why she liked her.
"I don't know..." She did though, she knew Yani thought of her as a good friend. But she wasen't exactly going to say that to Lethe.
She shrugged a bit, "apples aren't always red. Sometimes green. But er... thanks?" She paused. "I should find out what?' She sat up a bit straighter, she'd slumped down a bit. "Oh.. I see."
"Well. I don't know if I'll see him for a while. But I'll keep it in mind to ask him for you," she nodded firmly.
It was this time that he heard Keir's voice...or what he thought to be her voice with a slight difference. He paused by the door and let his ears direct his attention in the girl's direction. The voice sounded more mature....but still had a signature timbre to it.
"...Keir?" he ventured carefully, just in case that wasn't her at all but someone who sounded an awful lot like her.
The other voice was not one he recognized...but it had the unmistakeable sound of youth to it. It had to be one of the young fa'e. He offered both a smile.
Keir tilted her head, speak of the devil... Twitching a little, she jamp up, popping Lethe aside. "Lethe, this is Yani. Keir needs to help Yani okee?" She smiled and went over to him, "we're just sitting in the corner, care to join us?" She smiled a little, half happy, half sad.
Happy that he was here. But sad that she couldn't see him as a teen. That really made her heart sink. It sucked. Shaking her head slightly to remove any bad thoughts.
"Want a hand over or anythin'?"
Lethe was miffed at being so easily abandoned -- but she realized a few moments later that this was the Yani they were just speaking of. That was strange, he didn't look as regal as she'd imagined him in her mind.
"Prince Yani!" She called out, clapping her hands together in glee. This was perfect! Maybe she could see the fairytale end here, today. As long as there were no poison-apples.
Yani let one ear droop and the other p***k, glad his guess had be right, but still he could tell something was different.
"Keir, you sound...different," he said quietly so Lethe couldn't hear and outstretched a hand so she could help him over to where they were previously sitting.
At the cry of "Prince Yani", the fa'e looked a little mystified. "Prince Yani?" he echoed in response to Lethe's greeting, finding this nickname to be one he'd never heard before. "I'm not a prince."
Keir sighed and took grasp of his hand. Maybe just by her hand, she could figure out she was bigger. "Uhm... Well.. I kinda grew," she landed it quite simply, cutting out the big talk about how it happened and everything, maybe it was best to land it bluntly.
She smiled, and drew Yani up to the area where Lethe was. "Here sit," she guided him down onto the chair. "We have a very excited little girl, who thinks your a prince," she smiled, "her names Lethe."
