Though I never read the book, i heard Van Hellsing made a bad, bad, BAD transition. Makes me wonder if it was worse than Harry Potter. o.O At least the main character had a personality in VH. *coughcough*
I was lead to believe Memoirs the book was written based on Memoirs the movie, but I could be wrong. If book came first, it's the best transition I've seen so far.
The only book turned movie that was horribly screwed up and I didn't mind was Queen of the Damned. Maybe it was the music? the love tension? the well acted character of Akasha? Lestat's backside? Hard to tell... ^.^ I'm just a sucker for the movie.

The Little Princess was the worst, they got so many things wrong. Pride and Prejudice wasn't too bad they had the most important things right, just a few things were changed or left out.
