You got the argument wrong. It's "It was Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve".
That aside, and going with the Intelligent Design theory...
If God had created two males, how would we have reproduced? He needed an Adam and an Eve to be the first humans. Nevertheless, later on we had gay people. If God hadn't wanted gays, then why go through the trouble of making them? Nevermind who the first two were. (As most seem to have the idea that God always has his hand in the cookie jar, that is.)
