Do you believe the Phantom of the Opera REALLY excisted? I remember reading from somewhere that, sometime in the early 20th century they really DID find a sceleton with a deformed skull.. so is this evidence? Or is this, a fairy tail, and just the master piece of a man with a lovely imagination?

I, personally, believe he excisted.. that he really was real.. but what's your opinnion?

I don't believe he existed as Leroux said he did, but I don't deny there is some basis in reality.

Everything, no matter how silly or stupid has a basis in reality. Leroux just embellished on that reality. I remember reading somewhere that there were the underground river system thingies under the Paris Opera House. Anywho, I think that half is true, half is false. Though I'm not sure if our Opera Ghost fits into the true or false part...

Of corse he was real you fools! I for one belive Gaston Leroux's claims! I mean he interviewed the Persian who gave him a very detailed narrtive and was correct with the places and looks of the cellars when Leroux wandered the cellars to see for him self. He even found a hollow pillar in the famous box five. I know everything in Gaston Leroux book about the Palais Garnier is true (the places I mean) so why not the Phantom. What Dark said earlier is true becouse workmen digging found a humen sketelon with a plain gold ring on his finger which he told Christine to place on his hand when he had passed on. Further proof are the accounts from people that worked in the Opera! So he was real and his ghost might still hunt the halls of the Opera.

I believe in him, but I also think that some may not be true.

i think he existed in a way. but i don't think that all the details mentionned in the book are true. i think it is BASED on a true story, but of course, the author has added some stuff to make his book more interesting.

more interesting? you mean it's wasn't already as it's true beginning?

what i mean is that the author didn't had enough information about the phantom and had to go with his imagination to *complete* the story.
