My library catalog mentions a book by David Levithan, called Boy Meets Boy. I'm wary of getting it, because if my mother happened to see me reading it, she'd most likely disown me. ^^; So before I take the risk of getting caught, I want to know if it's any good. Has anyone read it?
*edit*
I can now say, after staying up late last night to finish the book, that "Boy Meets Boy" is THE MOST AWESOME BOOK EVAAAAAR. And you all must read it. Cause it rocks. Not only is it hilarious and heart-wrenching in all the right places, but the boy-love is just...@@ Delicious. This is now my favorite book in the world. (Meaning "Time for Andrew" has been displaced from the favorite-book status it held for the past six years or so. xD)
This is a SERIOUSLY GOOD BOOK. That title is not to be taken lightly, for only the rarest of literary gems recieve such a prestigious status. (The qualifications are strict and unforgiving: Classics such as the Odyssey and even most of Shakespeare's works will never be SERIOUSLY GOOD BOOKS. A SERIOUSLY GOOD BOOK is the kind of book that has romance, humor, and sadness in all the right places. Where you laugh out loud in one chapter and want to cry five pages later. The kind of book that you stay up until 2 am to finish, because you literally cannot put it down. I've found a few books like that: "The Day they Burned the Books." "The Giver." And of course, "Boy Meets Boy.")
Now read the darn book! biggrin

I've never read it but it looks pretty good. It won an award, I think. Have you ever read the book "Geography Club"? I guess it's supposed to be similar. 3nodding
Your mother would disown you? That's so sad... sweatdrop

Alright, maybe 'disown' is a little strong, but she'd definitely freak and quite possibly ground me for the first time in my life. ^^; I really don't know what she'd do, and I don't want to find out...

I completely understand. I don't think my mom would mind too much, but it would still be really embarrassing if she found out for some reason I can't explain. These are the sorts of interests you don't share with parents. whee

hm...never heard of it....well, when i'm older and my aunt doesn't moniter everything i do (and tell my mom that i'm "acting suspicious" every five minutes,) then maybe i'll read the book. if it beats a book that's been your favorite for six years, it must be good. plus, comedy, heart-wrenching, and slash is the best thing eva!!!! xd but.....if i read it now while i'm still young, my mom would be slightly shocked, my dad wouldn't care, but would probably give me another not-really-caring talk on profanity, my sister wouldn't be suprised, and my aunt would be completely disgusted and yelling at my parents for not really doing much about it. (unless of course the book has a lot of smut in it, then i'd get in LOTS of trouble... eek but they wouldn't have to know about that part.....)

I bought it off Amazon last week actually (finally got a Solo card!) And I have to admit I liked what I read. I often struggle to WANT to read a book, but this was a good read.
It was, for me, an enjoyable read due to the heinous lack of reality it showed in most places. This might just be due to where I live, but I find it hard to beleive that anyone like Infinite Darleene, or Pauls kindergarten teacher could ever exist in the world today.
But some of the feelings the characters displayed were very well written and connected very well I found with the tone of the book and just genuinly how we as humans feel.
I would not however say it was incredible. It felt wooly in places, and the ending was a little bit of a shambles. I'm glad that I read this book, and in a few years time I'll read it again and probably find more meaning in it, however right now I feel there is plenty out there which bests this easily.
On a sidenote, while it isnt anything to do with YAOI or slash, or boy-love at all. I'm currently reading "The Time Traveler's Wife" by Audrey Niffenegger. So far I'm loving it and while its very complex, I advise you all buy a copy now.

Boy Meets Boy is really good! I absolutely adored it when I read it. I let my friend borrowed it, and he put a booksock over it so no one would see what he was reading. XD heart
Has anyone read another book by Levithan, the realm of possibility? It's not totally focused on slashyness, but it's just as good, if not a little better. I think that everyone should at least look over it at some point, because it gets you thinking. Well, it got me thinking. I loved that book too. ^^
