My moon is my sun
I hunt; I'm alive
I sleep buried deep
Kept away from you
My stars are my fun
Life left far behind
Daughter. Wife. Mother
Beauty for duty
Escaped into books
My freedom to find
For you as for me
My son; my maker
Unlike my other poem 'Vampire' which is a metaphor for AIDS, this poem is actually about the vampire 'Gabriel' who featured in Anne Rice's books as Lestat's mother. Gabriel was never really written about, except to be seen through Lestat's eyes, but she is my favourite vampire.
