It was late at night and the moon was high up in the sky, lighting up the land below it. In the light, one could see a lone female lion, though it was rather hard due to her mostly black coat. She was sitting with her tail curled around her paws and her head hanging low, her ears pressed back against her skull. At first glance one might have thought her to be very sad, but really she was only thinking.

Just recently she had run into a leopard and a small and young male lion. At first she didn't know what to think of them. One second, they could look like the best of friends, but then they could look like they don't even like each other that much the next second. It was all rather confusing to Aysha, and she was trying to make sense of it.

She was also trying to curb her curiousity. Kujack, the leopard, had caught her attention in a strange way. She wanted to know more about him, but at the same time she was fearful. A lone lioness such as herself didn't stand much of a chance against a leopard fixed on attack. But would Jack really attack her? That was one of the things she was trying to figure out.

Sighing, the clutter in her mind making her irritated, the black and white female merely sank down to her belly, resting her head on her paws. Maybe the answers would come to her in time.

Ger padded around wondering where Kujack went off to. He was next to him one moment and gone the next. Following the faint scent of the liones, Aysha, he hoped that perhaps she knew where he was.

Ger was slowly growing up now, being out here in the wildness changed that. He was free to do what he wished, though still abating by Kujack's rules. Ger's fur was starting to malform around his neck, becoming think and wirry. He thought it was something that happened to lioness out here in the wild, away from their prides. Now and again, the cub would forget about his cowlick and paw at his neck more so than his head. Kujack said that he had to be neat and clean if he was to be around the leopard, and then cleaning became a ritual for him.

In the distanct, he could spot the lionss by herself. She always struck him as a loner when they first met. Perhaps he can change that. Slowly he went to her.

"Hi." he chimed, laying across her back, looking at her with his soulful teal eyes.

Aysha heard rustling behind her, but it didn't bother her so much. It was small rustling, and she figured that it couldn't have been that big of a creautre. Besides, if it was here to kill her or something then maybe it wasn't such a bad thing. She figured if her heart wasn't beating that maybe it wouldn't ache so much.

But when she felt little paws on her back and heard the voice of the little lion cub, she craned her neck around curiously to peer at him. Her expressoin became that of a strange one, one that showed that she wondered what he was doing here and why that leopard wasn't with him.

"Hello, Ger," she said, her face melting into a neutral expression after her initial confusing ebbed away. "You're up late."

Ger smiled and rolled over her back and landed beside her, leaning on her. "Yeah, I can't find Dad anywhere. I fell sleep and when I woke up he was gone again." he said, paw at his neck. "I came to you to see if you knew where he went." the cub added, now scratching his neck. Aysha seemed so harmless, she didn't look like one to hurt a cub, no matter whose it was. Ger was a cub, and Aysha was a lone lioness.

"I can't sleep anyhow." he said looking up at the night sky. He chuckled, "The great kings of the past. Mohatu, the brightest star." he murmured pointing his paw out to the bristest star, the northern star. "If you ever get lost, the kings will guide you home." If Ger knew that then he could easily go back to Pride Rock, but no. he wanted to be here with Kujack.

Ger turned his head to the lioness with a look of curiousity, a cub's curiousity. "Aysha, why are you up?"

Aysha rested her head on her paws once the cub slid off of her back. She kept one side of her face towards him so that he wouldn't think she was ignoring him or anything. "Oh, well, I don't know where he is. But you can stay with me if you want, at least until he comes back." She didn't know how the cub would react to her offer, but she figured she'd offer anyways. She wouldn't feel comfortable if she just let him wander about on his own this late at night.

When Ger went on to talk about great kings or some such thing, the lioness tilted her head in confusion. She hadn't known that dead kings could be stars or anything, or even that they could interact with the living.

"Great.. kings?" she repeated, glancing up at the stars as Ger pointed at the brightest ones. Kings of what pride? Maybe it was the pride that this cub had originated from, but she couldn't know for sure. "I'm afraid I don't know that one," she admitted, taking her gaze off of the stars and moving it to her paws.

"O-oh? Why am I up? I couldn't sleep," she said quickly, folding her ears back.

Ger snuggled into Aysha's side, making himself comfortable. He was gonna stay with her for some time, it was obvious now. Ger purred a little while he made himself comfortable in Aysha's fur. "I'll stay....for a little while." he said.

Ger's gaze returned to the stars. "My mom told me that the great kings who passed with the falling suns became the stars to watch over us, guide us." he replied. "She told me that Mohatu is my great uncle's father was a great king, he saved the Pride Lands from a near disaster." he said, "And when he passed on, his star glew the brightest."

"Aysha, what do you think of my Dad and me?" he asked out of curiousity.

Aysha couldn't help but smile as the little male began to snuggle into her fur. It reminded her so much of when her son was little and used to still do that, and she grew instantly attached to Ger when he did that. "Like I said, you can stay as long as you want," she said, using her soft and motherly tone.

When he began talking about the stars and great kings again, her gaze went back up towards the stars shimmering in the great black sky. She wondered if long gone kings really did join with the stars and watch over their still-living kin. It seemed a little far-fetched, but she couldn't help but believe deep down that maybe it was true. "You must be proud to have such a relative," she said quietly, thinking about her own family. They were nothing special, really. They had never stayed to watch over her.

Trying to force herself to think of something besides bad memories, Aysha looked back down at the lion nuzzled at her side. She didn't know what he meant by his question at first, but then she got an idea.

"You are both very special, in more ways than one. You are very lucky to have Kujack, you know that? He seems to care about you a lot." She paused for a moment to think of what else she could say. "I think I'd like to get to know you and that leopard better. You both seem like very good guys."

"Heh." Ger chuckled as he rested his paws on his belly, back propped up on the lioness. Aysha's fur reminded him of Jahazara's, his mother's. He wanted to go back to see her, really he did, but he was enjoying himself so much out here with Kujack and now Aysha.

"It was Mohatu that led me to Kujack." he replied. He remembered that he was using the Northern Star to tell him where north was and so used it to find the Mistweaver Valley. It all happened to fast. Kujack didn't want anything to do with the cub, even tried to ditch him. Then when he mentioned of him going to the Firekin Lands, Kujack suddenly...changed. Perhaps that is why Ger got attached to him. Kujack protected him like a father with his son.

"You don't think any better of him over me?" he asked.

The lioness glanced back up towards the stars. When Ger said that it was a star that had led him to Kujack, she became curious again. She had always known that young lions made up stories and played fantasy games and such, but Ger seemed so serious. Could he really think that the passed away kings of a pride were up among the stars?

Unable to really come up with a definite answer, all she could say in response to that was: "Oh." It really didn't mean anything. She only said it because she didn't know what else to say.

Blinking, she glanced back down towards the cub. "How could I? I barely know either of you." She paused for a moment. "What do you think of me?"

Ger was growing alittle tired. It was late ad he was extremely comfortable where he was. Ger purred softly and started to nod off. Aysha reminded of his mother in most aspects, almost made him feel like he's home with her too.

"Stick around some more, Aysha..." he yawned. "You're nice. Kujack likes....." he yawned. and curled up next to her, "...you." he finished before completely drifting off to sleep. He was still a cub, and he needed his rest.

Aysha blinked down at the cub, who by now was asleep. She couldn't understand if what he had said was true or if he was just guessing at the leopard's feelings. Did the two ever confide in each other? She wondered if maybe she should stay. It wasn't like she had anywhere else to go. Besides, she was curious about the pair and wanted to learn more.

Smiling, she licked the top of Ger's head before resting her own head down upon her paws, her face half-turned to him.

"Don't worry, Ger, I'm not going anywhere," she whispered softly, despite the fact that she knew he couldn't hear her, being asleep and all. After that she let her eyes close and sleep overcome her.
