Gyarados

Quote:
Gyarados (ギャラドス, Gyaradosu?) is a fictional sea monster in the Pokémon series of games.

This Pokémon is the fictional evolved form of the Water-type Pokémon known as Magikarp. In the animated Pokémon series it is a fierce, sea-dwelling Pokémon which is never submissive in battle. Although Gyarados is part flying-type, it does not learn any flying-type moves.

Gyarados is derived from the Chinese legend of the Dragon Gate waterfall, which holds that carp who leap over it will become dragons. It is said that less than one in ten thousand carp manage this feat. Several waterfalls in China have been claimed as the origin of the legend.

Gyarados's name may be derived from a combination of 虐殺 gyakusatsu massacre/slaughter, and 逆境 gyakkyō, hardship/adversity. Both words relate to the creature's violent nature and the hardship it experienced before evolving. The dos may just indicate that it's the second in its evolutionary line. It could also be a reference to the Japanese ドスdosu, the sound of stabbing or biting. This would certainly fit in with Gyarados's violent nature and sharp fangs.

Biology: Gyarados is a big change from Magikarp, the Pokémon it evolves from. Unlike Magikarp, whose most powerful move is Flail or Tackle, Gyarados can learn some very powerful attacks, such as Hydro Pump and Hyper Beam. Gyarados is simply a cross between a dragon and a fish. It has fins on the sides of its head, two whiskerlike feelers and a constant frown on its face.

Gyarados is very aggressive, and is powerful enough to destroy entire cities. It has a reputation for appearing where there is conflict, and shrivelling everything up with its fiery Hyperbeam. Rampages like this have been known to last upwards of an entire month, and will not end until everything around it has been destroyed.

Its big change in behavior is said to be attributed to a structural change occurring in its brain while evolving from Magikarp. Gyarados has been known to shipwreck sailors.

Icarus

Name: Icarus
Age: Unknown
Experiment Number: 003
Height: 21 ft 4" inches (6.5 meters)
Weight: 518 lbs. (235 km)
Species: Gyarados
Type: Water/Flying

Personality: Icarus is a violent, virulent pokemon. He cares for no one but himself, and only focuses on getting stronger. With his horrendous temper, Icarus has been known to fly into destructive rampages that do not cease unless he is sedated or has demolished everything around him. He doesn't trust easily, and would rather eat someone than be nice to them. Brutal, mean, and very suspicious of others--a perfect way to describe him. On the off chance that Icarus does manage to get close to someone, they would be able to calm his senseless violence. Since the Gyarados has already been betrayed, however, it is unlikely that he will open himself up ever again.

However, despite his obvious anger, Icarus has gained some wisdom from his many years of living and battling. He has his pride, and will not necessarily attack those who pose no threat to him. Underneath his bitterly hating facade, Icarus has been hurt deeply by the apparent 'rejection' of his trainer, and, while he now holds a grudge against most humans, he finds it easier to communicate with other Pokemon.

Likes: Battling, winning, snoozing in the water, Mark.

Dislikes: HUMANS, THE LABS, losing, being chained up, trusting people, Mark.

Enemies

Everyone.

Carl Hakan: Icarus cannot stand this man for A, sticking him in a tiny padded cage, B, acting so high and mighty, then immediately whirling around and trying to offer 'protection', and C? Icarus just wants to rip him in half.
