*has not played in a while because Laptop cannot handle ROMS very well and SNES is... unable to perform duties*

I don't know about levels, per se, but thanks for mentioning the HP, that I can tell you is too low: I go in there @ 1000-1200 hp and still manage to get whooped now and then; you should also be between 1200-1500 by the time you get to the Floating Continent, but I may just be a wuss >_<;;

Advice:

For stronger characters I'd suggest getting as many levels up as you can while holding stat altering Magicite, even if you've already learned all of the spells from that one.
This of course means you have to pay close attention to a character's EXP.

Do you know of Intangir of the Triangle Island? Vanish and Doom on that thing and you get 10 Magic Points; very nice. Try to have at least 2 people know both Vanish and Doom before you go, and preferably fast ones like Locke.
Good for getting people spells when you haven't had them in your party for a while, like Shadow or Gau.

I don't play on a PC because I don't have one.
I only have my laptop (not a mac) and it doesn't handle the graphics and the sound well at the same time, so I don't use it, or at least not regularly. I'm trying to get the SNES fixed.... but that might take some time... sweatdrop

I don't know the exact levels to be for the cave, but I can tell you that I always level up to 12-15 before going to the returners hideout so that Sabin has fire dance for the fight with ultros. Then I level up to 30-33 before I go to the floating continent. I personally hate dieing so I tend to overlevel.

i remember the caves, an i didn't really have a problem haveing around 800 hp, i do remember have a lot of hi-potions, so maybe i just did that area wrong, but i always got through it, something that i wanted to make sure of whenever i got on the floating continent, is that i had broken at least 1k health.

You don't need very strong characters to beat the game. I have beaten the game with my characters at level 35, alot of the game is how you fight and the equipment that you have. Items are very important.

Levels may not be important, but they still help; I have trouble at lower levels. *is a wuss*

I'm currently playing through the game again and have reached the floating continent at level 19. I'll admit I did die once when I got the monster in the box with the Gigantor dude who does about 1,000 damage as a counter attack, but that was just a careless mistake.

umm... jsut a question Terra but... isn't it supposed to be Bradford? i mean i may be wrong but i could have sworn...

anywho... i think i get levels up too much by accident... like i'll be trying to get an item or something and the battles just slip by until i get what i want. Learning Gau's rages is especially one thing i need to work on without getting so many levels up -_-... but ya... i have problems sometimes... at least with being at high levels... but i still havent beaten the game so... meh, who cares for now...

For years I thought it was Terra Brandford/Bradford but once I looked it up I found it was wrong, it's Branford. No D. At least not in my strategy guide, and of course Squeenix doesn't care enough about its older games to put up anything besides first name character listing, what's printed on the back of the box for the front page, and special features of the Anthology version...
As far as I know the correct spelling of her last name is Branford, although I'd like to know why I thought it was Brandford in the first place... >_>
Anyone wouldn't happen to have a screen shot of her full name in the end of the game, would they?
I have screen caps of almost all of them, and Terra's one of the unincluded... sweatdrop

Meh, i beat the game a few days ago for the first time ^_^ hooray me! however it was rather easy... >.> <.<... as beating any FF game seems to be for me at the end... though mini-bosses are still somehow bigger pains in the arse than the final boss >.<... they need to change that...

but ya... it's Branford... i forget why i thought it was bradford... *thinks* guess it sounds better in our minds *shrugs* who knows...

Locke rocks anyway >.> <.<...

ok, that was random... but he does... Illumina and Atma weapon... 8 hit combo with the offering and gengi glove... 510 battle power *does the mocerana backwards* o.o... sorry... >.> <.<... sweatdrop that wont' happen again.. jsut a random outburst -_-
