This probably applies to Final Fantasy VII fans more than others... but my friend pointed this out.
arrow One of Aerith's weapons is called the Full Metal Staff (or Rod, whatever) arrow One of YUffie's weapons is called Hawkeye
It's entirely coincidental, I say, for FFVII came BEFORE FMA. eek Still, it's weird.

Well, I don't really know if you all are into the FMA manga or not, but Arakawa named all of the characters (or at least based all their names) on WWII artillery. Which is actually a fairly common practice. So I'd have to say its either a coincidence (most likely) or they creators of final fantasy just thought those names sounded cool as weapons (another likely scenario).

Whoa. THat's pretty cool. =D!
Although for some reason, I always thought Hawkeye was a pretty common name, because of what it obviously implies.
@Kasadina: Oh yea, I realized that too, after a while. I think that's better than using over-used anime/manga names like "Megumi" or "Akira" or "Sakura". Granted, she probably wouldn't have picked Japanese names anyway, but still.

That's interesting to hear. I also heard of a movie called Full Metal Jacket...and it's about the military. =)

[[ MiSSxCRiSS ]] That's interesting to hear. I also heard of a movie called Full Metal Jacket...and it's about the military. =) Love that movie! I really thought it was weird because the manga magazine that first published the FMA manga is owned by SquareEnix. (The original FFVII had SquareSoft on its box, but Square assimilated Enix recently.) So I figured it'd be a tribute of some sorts to Sqaure. @Kasadina: I read the manga, but I don't think I've read far enough to read that excerpt. I'm poor, and my library sucks...

Your observation is indeed giggle worthy. I applaud your power of observation.
And I'm willing to bet that manga artists 'borrow' from each other all the time, like other writers. Like Hirano of Hellsing and Nightow of Trigun, for example...
