Ammonia Spike Vice Captain

I'm setting up a new planted tank in a couple of weeks, which is an Amano-style setup with mountainous rocks and a single carpet plant covering the bottom. I want a fairly low-maintainance carpet plant, as I am faily busy. I really like Glossostigma elatinoides, but I've heard that it is very hard to keep. Is this true? If not, does anyone have tips on growing it? Any advice is welcome.
Are there any other low-maintainance carpet plants that I could use? (Dwarf Hairgrass?)

I've been told that you would need a lot of light for carpet plants to keep them spreading out instead of going up.
