The ocean had a sort of natural calling to any sea creature. Though this place was all wrong for a certain crustation girl who was from the east coast. Instead of being smooth muddy sands there were pebbles and rocks a varying colors weathered by the tides of the sea. There were larger rocks not far off the beach in the water when it should have been nothing but ocean.
Azoc didn't seem to mind though, she had found plenty of new things too keep her interested. She had found a rouge palm tree whos seed had planted it there many years ago. She pulled at the bark on the strange tree with her right claw. They didn't have these back home and why were all the leaves at the top?
The toddlers parent was not to far off sitting in a chair with an umbrella. He was like most Gaians and sported a tail of some sort which was currently curled around the chair. Occasionally he would look up from his reading to check on the noisy little lobster girl. He had a difficult time trying to ge her to anything today. She finaly settled on wearing a pair of boys swim shorts.

It was a warm sunny day when Pika decided she should head down to the beach with Raisa. The little ladybug girl more likely would have prefered the city flower gardens but Pika had had enough of tourists and their slow pace between the flower beds. It was even a hassle to get a good seat on the lawn! So that was how she came to be walking down the beach in her new sandles, squinting into the bright distance.
Raisa walked briskly beside her, having trouble keeping up with her short legs on the tricky rocks and sand. "Ma-maaa slow down!" she said in a small high voice. Her small sand pail and trowel swung out tipsily as her arms waved for balance.
Pika slowed down for Raisa to catch up. "I'm sorry I didn't see you back there," she said joking. "I'm looking for a good place to lie out the blanket."
Raisa stuck her tongue out and ran over to the nearest log. "Here?"
"Ok...wait what's that?" Pika said with an exclaimation of disgust. Lying next to the log was a flat looking thing with black flies swarming around it. Pika took one step closer and the smell hit her. "Eww come away from there Raisa."
The small girl hoped over to her. "What is it mama?" she said peering at the lump half covered in sand.
Pika cocked her head and said, "I think it's a dead seal but I don't want to check for sure. Come on it's stinky".
Raisa stared back at it as her mama led her forward. "Oh look there's someone playing with a palm tree," Pika said, and Raisa whipped her face front. So there was. A child of blue, skin? and red tipped tail...what kind of child was this?

Azoc hadn't noticed the other two visitors to the beach yet. She was too busy trying to figure out what was wrond with this tree that she had found. Some one had sahved it so only the leaves were at the top. That wasn't any fun. It was also impossible to climb with out branches. Azoc kicked the tree in protest snapping her claws irratible.
"You're a bad tree. No good fo climbin." She turned to go find something else to bother till she noticed the lady with a black n purple girl with red hair. She had four arms too! Well that certainly peaked her attention quick. She shuffled over fairly quickly.
"Allo!" She grinned, folding her er, claws behind her. "You come to look at the cool stuff?"

Eep - now the child was talking to her! Her eyes went wide as she noticed the clackity pinchers as they disappeared behind the child's back. Raisa backed into Pika's legs.
"Raisa don't trip me. Go play alright? I'll spread the blanket out here," she said shooing Raisa forward.
Raisa opened her mouth and a squeak came out. "Hiya," she said. "What cool stuff?". Her lower arms were tightly clutching her lime green sand pail. Her other hands were balled in fists as if worried this kid would snip her fingers off. "Where are your fingers?" she asked suddenly, as children are wont to do.

"The stuff in da waater." Azoc pointed with her left claw at the rockier part of the beack where the waves were splashing up. "Theres stuff in little pools over dar."
"Fingers?" Azoc lifted her claws to look at them. She slowly opened and closed them softly. Then she turned her claws over. "I dunno, I just have these." She shrugged. Her tail curled up. What were fingers, is that what people called the short little stubby things at the end of peoples hands? "I have toes though!" Azoc pointed at her bare feet in the sand.

Raisa giggled as the strange girl scrunched her toes. "Lets play something!" she piped waving her trowel in the air. She ran out of the way as Pika fluffed out their blanket.
"Be careful by the rocks, Raisa."
"'K mama," she said smiling. Picking up a particularly shiney pebble after kicking off her sandles, she put it in the pail. Barefeet are always more fun except for thorns and glass and jagged things...

"Okay" Azoc followed, kicking the rocks aside. She bent over and picked up a particularly big one that was a tanish color. Turning it over between her claws before dropping it back to the ground.
"Whats that for?" Azoc jestered at the trowel and pail Raisa held.

"This is for dirt! Diggin' in the ground you know. I can pick up lots. Mama says I can use it in the sand too. At home its for the garden," Raisa said as she walked looking down at the rocks.
"Oh look!" she said pointing at a shell. "What is that?"
The shell has started to move. She dropped down and scooped it up with the trowel. Staring at the shell she could see tiny legs cramed tight, poking out of the inside. With due consideration she added it to the pebble in the bucket.

"Thats pretty neat. I have to use my claws. I'm not very good at holding things yet with em." Azoc looked at her claws breifly remembering when she had snaped several pencils by accident.
Her attention drifted to the shell Raisa had pointed out. There were alot of those in a tidal pool she had been looking in earlier. "Why are you collecting things? And wasn't that one an animal?" She had seen it move too, but didn't know it was hermit crab that was trying to scuttle away from them.

"I like to get stuff. That's why. I put it back after play time though cause mama said it isn't mine.
Aminal? That?" Raisa looked at the hermit crab by peering deep into her bucket. "Not a rock-bug?" Raisa frowned and peered up at the blue, be-clawed child.
"What's aminal?" she said.

"Oh thats good, but don't you sometimes just want to keep one or two?" Azoc reached down and picked up a bit of sea glass. "Like this, its really neat!"
"It might be a rock bug." She clacked her claws slowly. That must have been her favorite thing to do when she figgeted. Its not like she could knot up her fingers or anything. "Animal! Like birds and fishes! Thery're all the little things the move too!" Azoc put her claws on her hip. That was common knowledge wasn't it. Azoc glanced around, looking for one of those pools she saw before.
"Here I'll show you!" Azoc ran over to a small tidal pool and kneeled down to look in it.

"Yeah I want to keep the stuff. Mama says rocks are ok but only if I carry it." She cocked her head to one side as the other child explained animals.
"We move but we are people? Why are aminals, aminals?" she hopped over the rocks to look in the tide pool Azoc had found.
Raisa could see her face on the water, but if she looked into the water - "Wow! Lookit all the things!" Small fishes darted from rock to rock and tiny crabs were crawling around as well. "Are those flowers?" Raisa asked as she pointed her lower right hand toward a soft looking thing with a plume of coloured tenticles.

"People are people. Animals are animals!" Defining a word with itself was always so helpful. Then again she's only around four years old what did you expect?
"You mean that?" the fish went wild when Azoc put her claw in the water to gester at the strange looking 'flower' in the water. "Thats an anam- ana- ..." Azoc scrunched up her face. Oh she had heard it on that movie with the little orange fish but why couldn't she repeat the word. "i dunno if its a flower or not, but if you poke em they hide em selves."

"But mama says we are aminals too! So aminals are people," Raisa nodded at this basic logic. At three and a half the idea of D-Corp was not one she could grasp.
Raisa smiled as the other child went to put her claw in. "I want to too!" she said and put her bucket and trowel down beside her on a rock. Crouching down lower, she perched with two hands on the edge of the pool leaving two more free to explore. "Ooh it's cool!" she said with glee. Poking an anenome gently, she squeaked as it closed its coloured bits into the middle of itself. "Squishy!" she smiled back at the blue kid.

"I don't think flowers are suppose to be squishy." Azoc was looking at all the colorfiul inhabiants when something pinched her back. "Ah!" She liffted her claw outta the water and found she had a little hitch hiker. "Look it a crab!" The little crab let go and dropped into the water shortly afterwards.
here were so many intersting things in the water. "Oh whats that? Its so spikey." She had found a sea urchin climbing along the sides.
