"Y'know, you said nobody'd be around at night." Sheva pointed out. She was sitting on Dekko's back as they took a stoll through the moonlit park.

"No I didn't." Dekko's ear flickered back to listen to his friend's voice. It was all calm tonight. They had left Karyon at home for the night. Despite knowing that the place would most likely be completely trashed by morning, it was still quiet relief from his constant snuffling and growling.

"Yes, you did. You said there'd be nobody in the park." Sheva looked up at the trees. Whitewashed moonlight flowed through the cracks between the leaves as they ambled along the packed dirt path.

"No, sweetie, what I said was 'people don't go to parks at night.'"

"And by that, you'd have meant nobody would be here."

"I said people, Sheva. Didn't say nothing about other creatures." Dekko sniggered. "Besides, I don't see anyone around."

"There's pe-... creatures right in front of us!" Sheva hissed.

Dekko stretched his neck forward at the tiny little creature, who sat frozen in fear at the sheer enormity of the pegasus in the middle of the path. "Honey, that's a rat."

"...Fine."

"And that's Taurus, the bull! It's one of the twelve zodiac signs too," Kayce said, pointing up at a grouping of stars in the sky. The fae girl's blue eyes were wide and wondering, her face lit up with a rare expression of interest at this nighttime stroll.

Aiodhan chuckled at her enthusiasm, shifting Caleb's weight on his hip. Well, at least the little brat was showing interest in something. "Yes, I see it. May?"

"I see it as well. Couldn't you have taken up cooking as a hobby instead of stargazing?" Amyla yawned sleepily as they meandered along the path. She was leaning against Aiodhan's warm side for support and was silently grateful when they began to walk amongst the trees. Now Kayce couldn't see the stars to-

"I hear something," Kayce stated quite abruptly, ceasing all forward movement and tilting her pointy-eared head to one side.

"I hear something." Dekko snickered when he heard Sheva's echo. Both creatures had caught the sound of something up ahead at the same time, and now both's ears were strained forward for more information. "You relax, Sheev, you shouldn't be too strained." Dekko took a careful step cautious. This was a bad situation. If anything bad happened, he wouldn't be able to run or fly, with Sheva on his back.

"Listen, I'm having a baby, I'm not handicapped." Sheva snapped, ears pricked forward. "Go see what's going on. Come on, Dek, it's just a park, nothing bad's gonna happen."

Dekko took more steps forward. It was quite a lot of creatures, he could tell from the intermingling scents. His nostrils flared as he walked, head lowered cautiously toward the ground.

The group was reigned by silence for a moment after Kayce's proclamation. Then Caleb giggled, and the moment was ended.

"Ahhh, it's probably nothing, Kayce. Just the leaves rustling in the wind," Aiodhan said cheerfully before continuing along his merry way, trying to pry Caleb's jaws from his shirt collar with his free hand, the other hand occupied in keeping the infant on his hip.

Amyla beckoned at Kayce. "Come on, Kayce. Let's keep walking before Mum falls asleep," she said tiredly.

Reluctant to pass this off as leaves, Kayce continued on, looking far more alert than usual. Quickening her pace to a sort of trot, she sped ahead of her parents, investigating further along down the path. She had heard something, and it wasn't leaves. She was sure of it!

Dekko blew softly at the path, blowing at the sand. What he heard was like a herd of elephants stampeding toward him. But then, his ears were unusually sensitive. And whatever was nearing, he was sure didn't know he and Sheva where there. They were definitely headed toward them, after all.

"Eh, here they come." Sheva said, flicking her tail idly against her friend's rump.

"Hey, could you not do that?" Dekko's ear flicked back irately. He hated when things smacked against his rump.

Kayce didn't even miss a beat as she rounded the corner, several paces ahead of her family, to find the two unfamiliar beings waiting there. With bravery that only the young (or perhaps the stupid) can possess, she strode forward, stopping a few paces away. "Hello," she said simply, no inflection in her voice at all.

"Kayce, please don't get too far... ahead..." Amyla trailed off as they came around the corner after the fae. She blinked. Well, maybe Kayce had heard something after all. Damn it, why did the fae have to be right so often?

Aiodhan just stared and continued trying to pry Caleb's jaws from his shirt, growling at his son as if he thought it would help. It didn't, of course. The boy just giggled.

"Hey, kid, maybe next time, you could tell those people to walk-"

"Dekko, SHUT UP!" Sheva hissed, flicking her tail against his rump again. "Hello." Sheva responded calmly, ears flickering forward as a woman rounded the corner. "And so," She said to the fae in front of herself and Dekko. "I take it your name's Kayce?"

"Wh... You just cut me off from my punchline!" Dekko blinked, turning his head slightly to get a good look at Sheva. "Wow, pregnancy sure has made you crabby." He turned back to the fae standing before him. "Well, apologies for the wolf. I'm Dekko. She's Sheva." He looked past Kayce. "Who's with the posse?"

"My name is not 'kid.' It is Kayce," Kayce informed Dekko, giving Sheva a nod. Yes, at least the female one had a brain.

"Ahhh... hello. I didn't think anyone else would be out this late," Aiodhan chuckled, eyeing the wolf and the... was that a pegasus? "Nice to meet you, Dekko and Sheva. I'm Aiodhan, this little pair of jaws-"

He poked Caleb on the nose, making the infant giggle and chew more on his collar.

"-is our son, Caleb. This is Amyla, who looks like she's falling asleep on me..."

"I'm awake!"

"Okay, so she's not asleep. And you met Kayce," he finished, giving up trying to free his collar. Best to just let Caleb chew on it for now.

"We sure did. Well met, y'all." Sheva said, hopping down from Dekko's back lightly.

"Yea, yea..." Dekko responded to Kayce with a roll of his eyes. "OMGSHEV-"

"God... I'm fine, Dek." Sheva smiled at Aoidhan. "Well, somebody here said that there'd be nobody around in a park so late at night, which was why I came. Turns out, he was lying."

"See, I didn't lie. I'm a pegasus. Pegasusses.. wait, pegasi, right? Yea... Pegasi don't lie. She misheard me!" Dekko said indignantly.

Kayce managed not to curl her lip at Dekko's minor exclamation. Honestly, couldn't he see that the she-wolf was perfectly fine? Her good mood at having seen a new constellation was entirely ruined.

Aiodhan gave the pegasus a mildly pitying glance. Poor guy. He just couldn't win that argument. "No matter how wrong the woman is, she is always right. Just stop arguing now and save the energy," he told Dekko with the wisdom of one who has learned the hard way.

Despite her weariness, Amyla had to grin. "I have him well-trained," she told Sheva with a grin. "Are you just out walking for fun or for the exercise?

"Wise..." Dekko said with a smile, nodding at Aoidhan's words. "Short leash, eh? Well, I haven't got the worst of it." He added, thinking of Karyon, who despite being only Sheva's mate, was like the robot werewolf to both of them.

"Well, I'm just out for funsies, but I don't know about Dekko." Sheva said, answering Amyla's question and smiling at her previous comment. "I would've liked to walk, but Mr. Overprotective here didn't want be to get my paws dirty." Sheva rolled her eyes at her friend, who looked a little miffed.

Aiodhan grinned, baring a mouth full of very dangerous-looking teeth. "Oh, I wouldn't say 'short leash.' But she has calmed me down a bit from the wild days of my youth," he said, gently curling his tail about Amyla's waist.

"Mr. Overprotective? Hmm.... sounds like someone I know," Amyla remarked wryly, castling a glance up at her mate. "Are you both nocturnal, or could you just not sleep?"

Kayce, growing increasingly more bored with this adult conversation, was sizing up the nearest tree for climbing purposes. Yes, that looked like a nice sturdy one...

"Well, I'd normally be asleep, but somebody let the werewolf sleep near me, and god knows, that thing can snore." Dekko snorted, thinking back to what had seemed like a minor explosion at the time when Karyon had settled in to sleep next to him.

Sheva giggled. "You should've seen the way he jumped up and almost trampled Kar." She said. "But I mean, I don't mind. I sometimes sleep and sometiems I don't." She nodded. She'd never quite met a family quite like this one before.

"Werewolf?" Aiodhan queried with an even more wicked grin. He had always wanted to meet a werewolf. They sounded like such fascinating creatures, if a bit brutal.

Amyla had to smile at that thought, the pegasus trampling a werewolf. It would have been quite amusing to see, though not quite as amusing as the expressions Aiodhan wore when Amyla surprised him with something. Those were plain comical. "Mmm... wish I could be like that, only sleeping sometimes. These three are insomniacs, and I have to get at least five hours of sleep a night," she grumbled good-naturedly, keeping an idle eye on Kayce, who was now scaling a tree.

"Yep. Big black one." Sheva said with a fleeting smile. At least he wasn't here. That, at least, was good.

"Well, I just don't see what's in that that's funny, lady!" Dekko asked Sheva in bewilderment. "If I'd really trampled him, he'd have bit me."
