Hey, I have noticed that many of us people here at GROUP are librarians. I just thought I would make a thread just for us or anyone who has been a librarian or wants to be one. That is probably the majority of us, but...
Anyway I am a librarian at my school which is really great as it means I get books as soon as they come into the school and stuff. I am planning on applying for job at the library of the University I am going to next year I already have inside contacts.

I was a Librarian's aide for a year in Middle School, but I aslo helped out at the Library all through out Middle School. I don't know if that counts as being an actual librarian, but I do know my way around a Library. I can repair books, cover books, shelve, check out, check in, etc.
It was a pretty great way to get out of P.E.

I spend so much time at the library, I might as well be a librarian. I know where most of the shelves for different topics are, as well as some of my favorite authors. I might get a job there someday.

The same way you get a job anywhere else. You give them a CV and you might need to do an interview or something. To become a more permanent libarian you will need a degree in literature or something along those lines.

i was a school librarian for 6 years and am applying for a part time librarian job in my college.fingers crossed i get it.

My boyfriends mother is a librarian for Health Canada, and she has a masters degree in Library Sciences or something. Frankly, being a librarian isn't a job I ever thought I would want to pursue as a career, but as I explore my options, I might really enjoy it. It's quiet, lots of books, friendly people.

I have a job at my public library shelving books, my job title is a "page" not sure which kind it refers to. But, if you want to be a librarian you need OODLES of patience.

If only you missed PE at my school for library duty. *Sigh* We don't have to do that amount of thins in my school library, for a start a shelf had never been broken, I can check books out and in, but it's during lunchtime so I don't miss PE. I do get early lunch for it though.

I got a job at the University Library! Yah!
Basically I went into the interview, the library manager asked me about my experience working at my school library, and then I got the job. YAH!!!
