((Participants: Sosiqui & Amalthea; Youkochylde, Yeande & Shalafi.))

Sosiqui walked up to Youko's house, trying to ignore the faint sounds from inside her backpack. Amalthea was huddled in there, refusing to actualy come out until they got inside, no doubt clutching the Feien gem she'd grown so attached to. That was still worrisome, but at least Amal had actually ASKED for this... socializing. So she'd called Youko and arranged this meeting.

"Are we there yet?" came from inside the backpack, along with another rustling noise.

"I'm just about to knock," Sosiqui said, with a sigh.

There was a long silence, then a series of whispers the human couldn't quite make out, then - "Okay," very quietly.

Sosiqui shrugged, drawing a protest from the bag again, and rapped on the door.

For a change, Youko was actually home, and immediately went to the door, calling over his shoulder. "Yeande, Shalafi! I think they're here!" Almost immediately, he was greeted by a flurry of white wings, the little ice feien nearly ecstatic about meeting another one of his own 'kind'. Ever since Youko had told him there was actually another ice type feien, he'd nearly vibrated all of his feathers out in his excitement.

"Is she like me? Do we look alike? Does she havea room like mine? Does she have any pets?"

Youko could hear the tiny voice darting back and forth behind him. "I don't know, Shalafi... I might be able to help if you'd let me answer the door." Snickering still, he pulled it open, greeting Sosiqui with a grin. "Hey there! C'mon in, we've been expecting you." After having heard from Sosiqui, he was MORE than happy to have her and Amalthea over, and was very glad that he didn't have the only ice Feien. While Shalafi got along generally well with everyone, he still hated seeing the boy saddened because of the effect his touch seemed to have on others.

"Hi, Youko," Sosiqui grinned as she stepped through the doorway. She looked at the little buzzing white Feien. My, he was excited, wasn't he? "You must be... Shalafi?"

She put the backpack down on the nearest flat surface and carefully unzipped it. "Amalthea doesn't like the sun at all, so she came in this," she explained. "C'mon, Amal, we're here."

For a moment, nothing happened, then a little slightly-shaky Feien hand pushed aside the thick canvas. Amal poked her head out and gave Youko a piercing glance, then stared at Shalafi. Her wings rustled. Then she clutched at something, and flitted out to land on the table in an attitude of defiance. You never saw me be scared, her posture said. Never. She was still holding tight to the gem's carrying sack, too. "H-hello," she muttered.

Sosiqui rolled her eyes. "She's... not ever done this before," she whispered in Youko's ear.

"She's posturing for nothing," he whispered back, eyeing the two Feien. "He can't see her, he's blind." He motioned Sosi to follow him, grinning as he headed towards the kitchen. "Want something to drink? We can let them get acquainted on their own terms.

Shalafi, meanwhile, moved to land in front of Amalthea, grinning from ear to ear. "Hello! My name's Shalafi, what's yours?" He held out his hand in greeting to her, his gaze flickering as he tried to home in on exactly where she was. "I'm so glad to meet you! I thought I was the only one like me... I mean, I've met cold Feien. Tahki's a cold Feien. But I didn't know there were any more ice Feien until Youko told me your bonded had called. Did you want to see my room? It's a cabinet with an aicon built into the wall, Youko made it for me so that I didn't have to get stuck in the freezer anymore. Most people don't like it, but I bet you'd be fine in there."

Babbling? You bet. Shalafi barely seemed to notice he was rambling at all, and Youko just snickered as he listened to the tirade. It was good to see the little albino Feien so excited about something.

((Now that guilds are FINALLY WORKING AGAIN...))

"Sure," Sosiqui said, taking an anxious look back at the Feien. "I hope she doesn't panic or something... at least she didn't bring her sword..."

Amalthea took a step back, away from Shalafi. So much talking all at once... she looked down at his hand with a vague look of horror, as if it might bite her. For a moment, she thought about diving back in the backpack, back to the nice cool darkness where she could be alone with Rakuen...

"You're weak." Kree fixed one eye on her. "I bet you can't do it."

"I can so!" She stomped one foot and tried to glare back, the surface of the table around her slowly beginning to frost over.

"We'll see." The Dream flipped his wings open and crouched. "See if you have any strength in there, or if you just shatter, pretty little icicle..."

Amal swallowed and made herself take the few steps forward, moving a little too quickly. "I'm Amalthea," she said loudly. "And, um, this is Rakuen." She indicated the bag with a nod.

When no handshake came, Shalafi brushed it off just as quickly. "It's good to meet you, Amalthea. I'm sorry if I seem a bit flighty at the moment, I'm just very glad to meet another ice Feien." As she introduced her 'companion', Shalafi frowned faintly as if chastizing himself inwardly. "I'm sorry, you must think me rude. It's good to meet you as well, Rakuen."

Amalthea grinned, and relaxed. The other Feien actually treated Rakuen like he should be treated, like a real fairy! Nobody else but her had ever done that before. "I- thank you, Rakuen says," she said. "Most people but me don't even talk to him."

Sosiqui turns around in the doorway where she'd been following Youko, then quickly walks back to Amalthea and bends down. "Amal. Shalafi is blind; he can't see you or... um, or Rakuen. Act accordingly," she whispers as quietly as she can. "I'll be right there, have a good time you too," she says, more loudly, and walks after Youko again.

"Ohhh..." Amal tilts her head at Shalafi, some of her hair falling over her face. "You can't see...?"

Shaking his head softly, Shalafi let his head tilt to the side. "No, I can't. But that's alright." He wasn't quite certain why she was surprised that he greeted another... but had a feeling that this wasn't another Feien with her. "Did you want to go sit down somewhere? The livingroom is pretty cool, or there's my cabinet that everyone hates because it's frigid in there."

"O-okay." Amal relaxed a little. "Rakuen likes the cold too, I think." She leaned in closer to Shalafi and whispered, "I have to carry him though. He's a Feien, he IS, he's just a gem right now. But he's my best friend," she said, flushing a little as she confided this information. "I think he likes you, and you talked to him like he was a real Feien. Which he is, but not a lot of people treat him like that. It's not fair," she added, with a pout.

"You.. have a gem too?" Shalafi smiled then, understanding a bit more. "Youko got one too... I've been watching out for it, but it's a bit too warm for me to be around all the time. I think that maybe Youko wants me to merge with it like Yeande did with one... but I don't want to. I want to see if maybe I can let the fairy out of it."

He paused then, tilting his head to the side and reaching hesitantly as if trying to find Rakuen's gemstone with his fingers. "Maybe we could find a way to let him back out too?"

"L-let him out?" Amal shrank back a little bit, clutching Rakuen's bag to her chest. "N-no... Rakuen wants to be with me," she said firmly, trying to master the little shivery feeling that had crept into the pit of her stomach. "That's one reason why I came... because I wanted to ask the other Feien here about the bonding. About what it feels like to be... to be one." Her voice dropped to a soft whisper on the last words.

Then, seeing that Shalafi seemed to be reaching out, she held the gem out. "Rakuen is not hot. You shouldn't merge with a hot gem!" she admonished, pushing the gem into the path of Shalafi's seeking fingers. "It'd be like having a fire inside, I bet." She shuddered.

"Most likely," Shalafi replied, shivering as well. "I don't care for the heat at all. But I wouldn't mind letting her come back out of the gem, if possible. I'm glad Rakuen has you... I'll bet he was lonely before that." Smiling softly, Shalafi moved towards the shelf on the fridge where the ice and water came from the door, and motioned Amalthea to follow. "There's a draft over here from the freezer. I like sitting here sometimes."

"Oooh, feels nice." Amal was definitely feeling more comfortable now. This Feien wasn't bad at all. Not hot, wasn't melty... good, very good.

Now, for the question of the day: "Do you know much ice magic?" she asked, hesitantly. "I have lots of magic potential, my bondmate says, but... I can't seem to figure out how to work it on my own. I was wondering if... if you could help?"
PostPosted: Fri Oct 08, 2004 5:22 am

Shalafi sighed slightly, kicking his legs a bit where they dangled over the side. "Well... I have the potential for it. Yeande says that when I come into my own, I'll have a lot of magic. But I dont' have anyone to teach me ice magic, so it's pretty much been trial and error." He turned to her then, smiling as his hands braced on the ledge to either side of his hips. "Maybe you and I could learn together! I mean, just sort of see what works then teach each other what we've found out."

Amalthea sighed, too. "Very sorry thing we have, then. I don't think there ARE any more ice Feien besides us, and we don't have any clue... I can do the basic, basic ice magic, but only the spells that are... um... innate, I think is the word. Means we can do them automatically or something." She reaches into Rakuen's bag and pulls out a crumpled post-it note, covered in tiny, Feien-sized writing. "I copied out the grimoire from the shop, the ice part anyway. I got told I could do some other magic 'cause I know this other thingie called Panelemental, but I wanted to do my natural magic first..."

She pointed at the list. "Chilly Touch, yeah. I've been trying to do Chilly Spray for ages now but I just can't figure it out..."
