They mentioned him in Two Hearts one Mind because Kia was talking about he proposed to her but other than that I don't know what ever happened to him did he die or is he just always gone?

I think he sied when Kagome was little, because Kagome's mom talked about when her dad puposed to her. But she didn't seem mad about it.
