Natalie was pleased with herself. The arrangements were made, the food catered (and partially cooked by yours truly), the invitations sent out, the costumes finished. Everything was going just fine.
The guests had already begun to arrive, and Natalie had somebody greeting them as they came in - no reason to give away the game just yet. She straightened her mask, wondering who would recognize her. She'd gone through quite a bit of practice to slightly change her speech patterns and movements.
She sipped at her fruit punch, looking around the room. The children were in a close-by room, having their own party, with Haki in charge. She'd have to go check in on them sooner or later. But for now, she had to play the role of host-masquerading-as-guest.
((OOC: Okay, folks - you have your setting! Go ahead, no need for post order. Post when you can, since I know I can't get on as much as I want to.
Any questions about setting, feel free to ask~
Oh! And in case you didn't see, this is Natalie's costume.
Oh, and sorry for the crappiness of the post. xd ))

Parties. Tristan had always like parties. He hadn't been to one in a long time and he was a little reluctant about showing up at this one. However he wanted to meet the rest of the guardians, he needed to get out of his apartment, this was a good solution to both these problems.
The masquerade bit had been a bit of a problem. He owned nothing he could wear. It was remedied however by a quick trip over to his best friend Cody's place and stole something that was laying around his place. It didn't matter much, with his hair you could tell who he was no matter what.
He got there feeling rather akward, it was hard to tell the people he knew from the ones he didn't with the masks. He didn't know how things were suppose to work at masquerades so he decided he might as well get something to drink and eat first, let people approach him.

And approach Natalie did. She was fairly certain it was Tristan - he didn't seem to have put much effort into a disguise. Not compared to the change in the way her hips shifted and the change in hair-style afforded by her wig.
She got herself a glass of punch, smiling over at him. "Hello," she purred, watching him. "Enjoying the party, m'lord?"
Word choice had been a fun thing to decide on. But she'd chosen a formal, if antiquated, mode of address.

He was in the middle of taking a long sip of punch. He had never been called "m'lord" before, not many people in modern society had, so it amused him, and he made a funny noise as he snickered into his drink.
"Good so far," Tristan said as he lowered his drink, "I've only walked from the door to here so far, but still pretty good."

She giggled a little, taking a sip of her drink.
"Well, I'm glad it's making such a good impression so far. I hope it all turns out well and runs smoothly." Another sip. "Did you invite any of your friends...?"
She was interested to see just who had invited friends and family. It'd be interesting to meet them, to be sure!

Tristan snickered again at the thought of his friends and family. The idea of his angry old man of a father dressed up for a masquerade was amusing. Then his friends, or... friend as it were, he only had one, he would have liked to come, but he was at home likely rubbing his pregnant fiace's feet.
"Nah, none of the could make it," that made him sound less pathetic than saying he had one friend. He was a loser, but he didn't want people to know that.
Looked the girl he was speaking over for a moment, trying to figure out if she was one of the few he knew around the compound. She didn't really look like it, or sound like it so maybe she wasn't. Too early to tell.

"Oh, that's too bad!" Sip. "I have a few friends around here.... somewhere."
Matt and Stephen probably weren't even there yet, actually. Mictlan had been too busy, and Matt and Stephen had said they might be late - 'things' had to be attended to. Probably involving trying to summon a sex demon, or some such thing.
"Have you seen anybody you know yet, m'lord?"
Ah, the real test - had he recognized her?

"I... don't know," he was still unsure about her. He was sure she was someone at the compound. He was pretty sharp sometimes (he was a doctor after all) and he had noticed she was acting like a host, so maybe she was the one who had set this all up, now if only he had bothered to remember or learn who had been in charge.
He had an idea, "I don't think I have," he paused for a moment, "Do you know who planned all this? Set up and stuff, I'd like to try find them at some point and thank them for throwing it."

She laughed a little, glancing away. Should she tell him? Well, it couldn't hurt.
"Why, that would be me, Tristan. And I assure you, we know each other." She'd made him lunch, after all! "Any guesses?" Hm. She'd give him...
"Three guesses. If you don't get it right, then I'm not going to tell you."

"Chloe, I've changed my mind. I don't want to go in."
"Come on, Remi! I worked too hard on that costume of yours for you to back out now."
"What do you mean 'worked?!' You borrowed it off one of your associates! Besides, I feel overdressed. Couldn't you have found anything a bit less...princess-looking? And isn't the headdress a bit much?"
Chloe stared hard at Remi through her own black mask. "It was either the headdress or a wig, considering your hair would have given you away. And it's a costume party. You're supposed to be overdressed. Now go inside."
"But--!" Remi began to protest, but then felt herself shoved through the doors and into the room, Chloe following right behind. Remi looked around uncomfortably. In the dark, all the white in her costume would certainly make her stand out. Her costume consisted mainly of a white, sleeveless dress that reached down a bit past her thighs. A length that already made her feel uncomfortable. However, part of the dress split down the middle to form a long skirt that trailed behind her, almost reaching the floor. The edges of the skirt were lined with feathers, a feat that must have been pure hell for a seamstress. Strapped onto the low back of the dress were golden feathers to create something that resembled small wings. At least she had long white gloves that reached up past her elbows so that she felt a bit more covered.
The most attention-attracting feature was the headdress. Though she had a white and gold mask to disguise her face, her short hair would be a definite give away. Therefore, Chloe forced a large veil type contraption on her head. A small fan of gold feathers adorned her forehead as a few gossamer sheets spilled over the back of her head, effectively hiding her hair. Chloe insisted that it looked beautiful, but Remi was mortified to be wearing it.
"Just loosen up a bit and enjoy yourself," Chloe purred in her British accent. She winked mischeivously, "I know I will. Have fun!"
And with that, the only friend Remi could hold on to bounded off, leaving her alone to deal with her insecurity. She looked around nervously, not even noticing her other guardian friends right next to her. Not that she would have recognized them anyway...
((I am a nerd and based Remi's costume off this dress, just less wedding dress-looking and with a bit of gold instead of just white. And the headdress of course. ))

"Should be easy enough. I know about four people on the compound, only two of which are girls, so you have to be one of them, unless Carver just so happens to be really good at cross dressing," Tristan said.
He realized then how pathetic he was. How long had he been living on the compound? And he only knew four people. He didn't even know anyone who lived in the same building as he was in.
"You have to be Natilie or Remi," Tristan said, "Unless I was right about the cross-dressing thing."

Well, she certainly didn't have Carver's tattoos or n****e piercings. ... Not that Tristan should know about those. ... yeah.
"Well, one of your guesses is right," she said, cryptically, winking. "And I do happen to be female. So that narrows it down a little more."
Natalie would have said more, but the sheer brilliance of Remi's costume drew her attention. "... Oooo..." she said, then gestured at the woman. Then she grabbed Tristan's hand without preamble and dragged him over.
"Good evening!" she chirped, dropping a small curtsy as she came to a halt.

Remi had been in nothing short of a panic until another woman approached her, dragging a somewhat recognizable man behind her. The hair. She recognized this guy's hair. Now if only she could remember the name...
However, her thoughts were stopped when the other woman greeted with a curtsy. Remi had never been one for formal occasions, or formal greetings for that matter. Had she not been wearing a mask her embarrassment would have been visible on her face, and luckily it was hard to see a blush with the lighting in this room. Gingerly taking the edges of her feathered skirt, she tried her best at returning a curtsy, feeling more like a pile of feathers and wings than a person. And the headdress...why did Chloe insist on so many feathers?!
"G-good evening," she replied nervously, realizing her voice probably was enough to give her away. Did she know this woman? Did this woman know her? Her identity shouldn't be that obvious, considering the costume. However, someone else's identity finally clicked in her mind.
"Tristan?" Remi blinked at the man behind the mystery woman. "Is that you?"
The hair. She knew she recognized that from somewhere.

He was surprised to be dragged elsewhere, but he went along with it. It wasn't like he had anything else to do anyways, and he felt more comfortable around the girl he had been speaking because he knew her, sure he didn't know her name at the moment but he knew her.
When they stopped, Tristan looked over the new girl. He was really starting to think he was underdressed for the occasion, especially since his idenity was guess so easily.
But it helped him figuring things out. The newcomer had known his name, so he must have known her. He was now in the company of the only two girls he knew at the compound. He wasn't too good at recognizing voices however, better with faces. But all he'd need to do was figure out who one is and he'd know who the other is.
"Yeah its me," He said with a bit of a laugh, "I suppose I'm not very good at this costuming thing am I?"

"Oh, that's not true. I'm just rather obsessed with costuming." She finished off her glass of punch, twirling the little plastic thing absently. Hmmm... who was she? A friend of Tristan's?
Natalie wondered if she knew her.
She glanced around, shackles on her wrists clinking slightly. Perhaps she should go check on other people...? After all, she was host - it'd be silly to stay with just a few people all night.
Still... she did know Tristan. And she possibly knew the woman across from them.
