Her wailing cries could be heard all around - the pitiful sound so heartbreaking that one might find themselves dashing to her side to try and quieten the noise.
It sounded like the cries of a wounded animal, lying in pain and agony as it waited for death. Yet this was far from the truth.
Ivie's keening rose up and for a moment it seemed she would not pause for breath and simply pass out from lack of oxygen. Her pale green face was raised up to the sky; her jaws parted as the tears streamed down her face.
What had she done!? What had she done!?
Lying at her paws was a baby rabbit so new from its burrow and where once its eyes had shone with life they were now glossed over with death. It had already been wounded when she had discovered it and as most young lions she had used it as hunting practise.
Her paws had smacked it roughly aside and the moment her paws had struck its broken body the pictures filled her head with such vibrancy that she could not bring herself to touch it again.
Warmth, safe, dark warmth enveloping its body. Mother, its mother was there, her heartbeat soft and gentle. Then suddenly panic, terrible panic and Ivie saw what the baby rabbit had seen: a pair of jaws moving to crush it and then it was gone. Those teeth fading from sight leaving the little creature gasping for breath. Pain, so much pain and then again the danger came. Claws that unsheathed from pale green paws clasped with black rings.
Her own paws.
And unwittingly, Ivie had seen the rabbit's past and had come to the horrible conclusion that she had snubbed out the rabbit's life with her playful antics.
She lowered her face and shut her jaws over the sad crying to whimper softly, wanting to nudge the rabbit in an effort to wake it from its endless slumber.
But she could not bring herself to touch it in fear that she'd see what death was like - though this wasn't likely.

Apparently he'd gotten back to these lands a little too soon. He could hear the screaming and yowling of the other, and was desperate to find them. Not to see if she was alright, simply to tell her to shut up. Maybe he could find a rock and throw it at her. (Or it in his mind, seeing as he didn't know if it was actually male or female. He figured as much, only girls screamed bloody terror). He had drempt that morning of how to reach Na-Be, but he hadn't understood it so much, it was something about a path of stones. Each one brought him closer to his quary, but the first one always knocked him into the water. How he could get knocked into the water was beyond him, really.
His steel blue eyes finally spotted the answer of all the noise, though it had quieted down and it was pointless to find her then. He was quite pleased he'd been right in assuming it was a she. "You're lucky nothing came and killed you from the noise, you annoying girl." He murmered out, eyes narrowed as he came into view.

A voice.
A voice she had not heard before.
Almost instantly she reached up with one paw to rub the tears from her face and sniffing quietly she turned to face him with an annoyed look on her face. She had not wanted to be caught in such a distressed state and she would do everything in her power to gain control of the grief that had swept over her as would a crashing wave.
Her eyes settled upon an older creature than herself and for a moment she was unsure what to do or say. He spoke to her in a similar way her elder sister did but in a less teasing manner.
"That's not very nice." She retorted, flicking her golden-tipped tail to and fro. "Anyway it was me doing the killing not anyone else." She put out her bottom lip in a small, girlish pout and turned to glance nervously back at the rabbit.
It hadn't moved.
Her legs trembled slightly and the tears welled up once more but she quickly turned her gaze back to the stranger and tried to put on a strong expression. "Who're yous anyway? You smell strange."

"And who said it was nice, hmm? I didn't." He smirked lightly. His gaze floated over her pelt, curious at her colors. He'd never seen a green lion before. But since his encounter with Mrost was only a few days ago he wasn't too surprised at much.
He raised a brow skeptically at what she said and moved boldly forward, slipping to the side a little to see what she was in front of. He snorted. "And you certainly did the wailing. Did the little rabbit bite you, or something?" He made sure his tone wasn't hurtful, just curious.
"Hmph. My name is Fedha'Kialio and I smell strange because I don't live in these... discusting lands. I'm a traveler." He said, matter of factly.

"Yes..." She replied, her look thoughtful. "I can see why yous wouldn't like it here. Lions that live here are polite." She stepped away from him as he drew near, glancing back almost fearfully as he inspected the rabbit.
She was ever growing fearful of physical contact whether it be friendly or not. To her even the most gentle caress could bring horror.
His name even sounded strange; a weird ring to it that she wasn't quite sure that she liked though she didn't comment. It was not his fault that he had been given that name but that of his parents and seeing as he was not a Pridelander she assumed that different prides had different ways of naming.
She was not overly curious about the world but she did have the wisdom to appreciate that not everyone did things the same as the Pridelanders. Fedha was proof of this.
"The rabbit didn't bite me, no. It...it showed me it's story." She was not sure how it happened and knew only that it did somehow.
"I'm Ivie'lingwa."

His eyes narrowed and he threw a dangerous glance her way. "Are you implying that my homeland houses impolite lions? You're ignorant. A place doesn't make someone polite or impolite. Your own actions do. I'm pretty sure I've met a few unpolite lions in the pridelands." Yes, he did know where he was. Good Fedha!
He blinked, his face twisting into confusement. "Showed you it's story... how?" This confused him a great deal, perhaps he'd run into a cub that wasn't quite right in her head.
And just as she'd found his name strange he'd found hers to be as well. "Well Ivie'lingwa.. you certainly can scream." He muttered.

"Maybe not the homeland...but maybe the parents for not teaching their cublings manners!" She squeaked, fluffing up a little. She didn't like this meanie, he was worse than her sister! "If you saw what I did then you'd scream too." She stuck her tongue out at him and swung around to face him, eyes flickering down to the rabbit.
Her jaw weakened and trembled and eyelids closed tightly over jaded orbs. She hated to look at it, the poor creature who had been so happy and loved. It was nothing now. Nothing.
"I don't know how it showed me it's story, it just did!" He made it seem as if she had been lying. But how could she explain such a thing? No one else seemed to have her problem. "I touched it and suddenly I saw things. Things that I shouldn't be able to see." She sniffed, the tears threatening to overflow from her eyes. "I saw it lying by its mother. I saw the creature that attacked it!" A sob broke free from her throat and for a moment it seemed like she might just fall apart.
But though Ivie looked weak on the outside she was strong on the inside. It was this strength alone which would enable her to survive when death seemed so welcoming.

He growled. "Are you insulting my mothers, girl?" He snarled a little, facing her. But she went right into explaining about the rabbit and seeing things. His eyes narrowed, more thoughtful than threatening.
She could see things? But that was the life leading up to that rabbit... "Touch me." He ordered, staring hard at her. Did it work on all living things she touched? "And stop that crying!"

"Mothers? You have more than one mother? Where's your father?" She sniffed, "and I don't insult them...not really." Okay so she would have been grumpy if he'd insulted her parents so she supposed she could let him off for that one.
At his order she shrank back however, fear gripping her. She didn't want to see things about him. She didn't want to see his past, she didn't want to see his future. She didn't want to see anything like that! She just wanted to see normal things, she wanted to snuggle against her parents and not have to worry about seeing things she shouldn't.
She wanted to play with her siblings and she wanted to hunt without fearing the visions would haunt her if she did.
This power - or whatever it was - was a curse and she despised it.
"No. N-no I don't want to. Stay away." She continued to back up slowly and it was quite clear that she was terrified of such a prospect. It was doubtful she'd be encouraged to do it unless given no other choice.

"I don't have one." He said simply, watching her still. He was more interested in figuring out this strange occurance. "Do you see things every time you touch something? If you touch it multiple times... does the same story unfold?" Now this... this was very interesting. How could he get her to ...read him? Maybe he should just tackle her...
So far he hadn't moved one step closer. Information first and then he'd make her touch him.

She shook her head violently from side to side, eyes wide with fright. She could handle questions as long as he stayed back. Why was he so interested in her weird, freakish ways anyway? Would he taunt her? Use her? Tell everyone she was some freakish beast who needed to be slain?
She didn't want to die!
"N-not every time. Just sometimes...it depends how strong the thoughts are." She swallowed, for at the moment she saw only the past, later on her powers would evolve to her allow her to see things that had not yet come to pass.
"And no...some stuff is different." She had seen all sorts of things about her brother when she had accidently come in contact with him. Just little things that had meant a lot to him but it had scared her all the same. She did not like invading on other's memories, not one little bit.

A greedy grin was slowly sliding over his maw. "Ah I see." He sat himself down slowly, tail curling about his paws. So she saw these stories, only sometimes. Was it something simular to his seer-dreams? And evidently she didn't always see the full story, or maybe she saw bits every time she touched another. Now this was very curious, and Fedha could put aside his mission to find (coincidentally her father) Na-Be.
"So do these visions hurt?" He said, straight forward.

She calmed a little as it seemed he made no attempt at coming closed and released a held breath, the muscles unwinding slowly. "Not hurt...well...I don't know." She looked down at her paws and wriggled uncomfortably. "They're scary. It's almost like I'm there. Like with the rabbit I felt the fear he did, felt what it would be like to know you were about to die. The images...they're so real."
She sighed, "sometimes they're not scary, sometimes they're nice but it feels horrid to spy into one's life. I don't like it." Many lions would love to have a power such as that, it would give them so many advantages, but Ivie wasn't manipulative or cruel. She just wanted to be normal and fit in.

Maybe she was his answer to finding Na-Be. Maybe she could get a vision! "What if someone needs that kind of.. knowledge? Don't you think it's not fair to be selfish... I'm sure you've just had a few bad experiences your first time touching things..." How could he persuade her? Maybe he really did have to force her. He didn't like that idea much, though.

"Y-you don't mind that I'm a...a freak?" She whispered, glancing at him with a glimmer of hope in her eyes. Perhaps he wasn't all that bad. It was good to talk about things that were usually so difficult. She felt almost as if he understood her and that he wouldn't mind if she was different from other.
The tiniest of smiles appeared on her face and she visibly relaxed further, pulling herself up into a comfortable sitting position.
"Why would anyone want to know the past? Or the future? Or anything like that? The future...I don't like to think it's decided and the past...how is the past important?"
"I don't want to see bad things when I get close to others. This power is going to stop me making friends. They'll fear me and run away and I won't be able to stop them." She sniffed, uh oh...looked like she might start crying again.
