Ah, the plains. It had to be Inali's favorite part of the soquili lands, though she had yet to see a great deal of it. Resting beneath a lone tree, the soquili folded her legs, lying down gratefully. She had the perfect amount of shade now, the sun peering through the leaves to create dapple patterns on her blood red coat. Inali felt herself nodding off for a moment, before shaking her head. She wasn't sure she was quite ready for a nap-not just yet.
Thinking back to the human guardian that she shared her life with, Inali smiled. The half European girl had taught her a song today, something she had heard from traders. She had said it had come from far away England, a distance that Inali could hardly imagine. Inali began to hum under her breath, the tune she had been taught. Her voice was not unpleasant, though a little rough.
Finally the mare began to sing quietly, almost under her breath. It had a curious, haunting melody, this song. Hardly happy at all, not befitting the sunny day, not that Inali minded. It was pretty enough. Closing her eyes, the mare fell into the lilting melody of the song, nearly putting herself to sleep.

Afternoon...
Head held high, Zaphiro walked along through the grass, the blazing sun shooting down it's heat and light from high above. Perhaps it was a good thing...but for the dark blue Soquili, there was such a thing as too much.
"I shouldn't have headed out today..." Shaking his head, Zaphiro murmured to himself under his breath as he walked along, feeling more like a baked potato than a Soquili. Sure he knew that his coat attracted heat...but if he'd known that he was entering an utterly treeless area, he might have passed on heading out wandering today.
As it was, he was roasting; he'd given up flying after he'd overheated, and now was using his feathered wings as some sort of umbrella or sunshade. But still, they weren't helping much; his curly mane and flowing tail hung limp, and his coat was extra glossy due to a fine sheen of sweat. It was so hot...
And then he saw it; a tree!

Inali started as her quite humming and near stupor was interrupted by the sudden scent of another soquili. He had the horsey smell, coupled with the thick smell of birds. One of the strange ones with wings then.
Clambering to her feet quickly in a less than organized fashion, Inali shook her mane out. No time to make herself look presentable- she would have to make do as she was. Then she saw him- beautiful dark blue color, unmatched by any previous hue she had ever seen before. The gold swirls added something, something special... Inali found herself at a loss for words.
"Er... hello." Her voice came out in a stammer, something she was not used to. No words? She always had words to say! "I'm... I'm..." Her name! What was her name? "Inali!" It came out in a sudden blurt, rather embarrassing. Bowing her head, Inali tried to sink within herself. She was not used to this... this feeling.
