In the past year I've lost over 20lbs, and haven't done anything, well, other than I quit eating beef just because it started tasting nasty to me. No dieting, no exorsizing, nothing. I can't remember my weight from the first of the three times I was on a scale, but, I remember I lost about 10lbs, last summer when I went to get my annual girly checkup I weighed 254 and just a coupleof weeks ago I weighed 241. Has this happened to anyone else? (I'm not trying to loose weight or gain it, i just think it's odd)

Well, there are a massive amount of factors in weight gain/loss, and it's been proven that the human metabolism can defy most laws of thermodynamics, so don't be suprised if you randomly change weight.

Happened to me when I started to work. I lost around 10 lbs (5 kilos), mostly because I was too busy to snack, plus, because of some... internet fators, I was feeling ill to my stomach and couldn't eat much.
But in this case I know why I lost weight.

I'm sure it's normal. I just gained about 5 pounds, and my weight is usually completely steady. (I didn't mean to gain them. razz ) And I'm sick, too, which I thought was a little weird...

Horrah! That happens to me sometimes too... my weight fluctuates a bit from time to time... I'm guesses for me it is puberty ^^;

(Actually I think it was the beef that contributed for your situation being most meat just fat shaved off animal bones ^^ wink

I had another theory about the beef, which is simply, they feed the cows tons of hormones, that are to make the cows bigger, that stays in the meat, and could cause excess weight in humans too. My weight does change about 10 pounds give or take depending on the time of year, but it's usually loss durring the summer, gain in the winter. Maybe my metabolism's becoming decent.

it happens to me all the time. Our body is growing and uses up all the old fat stored.. I know, I went from 150-130 in two weeks.. I did nothing. OH, also remeber water weight has a large amount to do with your weight. heart

beef and other animal products are awful for you. I would guess that you're removing beef from your diet is what caused a lot of it. Beef is one of the worst meats for you, cause the cow is so big and well..meaty.
I lost 26 pounds by not eating meat at all, but i started lighter than 250 so...the worse shape you're in, the quicker you see a difference. That was also in the past year too.

Dude, I lost two inches off my waistline and maybe 5 pounds and all I did was watch TV, play on the computer, and eat marshmallow peepes. xd

as fer the beef discussion, I love meat as long as it isn't from baby animules, but if I could I'd like some good old fashioned organic meat. No hormones or overfeeding, just farm-rasied cattle like it should be. Oh, and cruelty free of course cus I like cows. biggrin heart ~hugs bull I helped bottle-feed~

I actually LOST weight when I increased my protein and cut back on my carbs...I ate as much meat/eggs as I wanted and I lost weight quickly...the only reason why I wasn't successful with my diet is because I caved into my carb cravings and went overboard sweatdrop heh

Same here... I lost 42 pounds in 3 months (this was a few years ago) when I first went on Atkins... but I didn't do the Atkins diet exactly as it says to, because you just are NOT going to tell me that carrots and oranges are bad for you! So, I modified it... lean meats and all the veggies I wanted, along with fruit. I am now reading up on the South Beach diet, and from what I am reading, seems that's what I was doing before and just didn't know it. I figure, it worked then, it will again, so I am going to start back on it soon, after doing a bit more reading to be sure I have it right. Only reason I went off it then was that Saew and I had just started dating, and I'd had a really bad day, so he made me what he found out were all my "comfort foods": fried chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy, corn and bread! Yeah, not exactly on my diet. And he was so sweet, I couldn't possibly refuse to eat it! Hence, my downward spiral back into the land of carbs began.

But I KNOW I HAVE to do something! Saew and I went to donate plasma yesterday, and they weigh you.... the girl who was taking my weight sounded like she was about to choke, and then just stood there staring at the numbers for a couple minutes, looking totally disbelieving. She even kept tapping it (digital scale) to be sure it was right! And I saw the numbers.... sweatdrop heh... um, yeah....

Yeah, that was a bit embarassing... but other than that episode, she was relatively nice. *shrugs* I knew before that I needed to do something, but getting a reaction like that just sort of drove the point home, you know? What's funny is when she took my vitals, she did my pulse twice and BP 3 times... she seemed completely shocked that someone my size had such good readings. surprised Then, when I had to go in to see the facility nurse for the physical, she did my BP (yes, again, but that's standard)... then got another nurse to do it too (which is NOT standard), because she "must be hearing this wrong". She also seemed completely flabbergasted that my tests showed no signs of diabetes or liver problems. rolleyes
