Nahodha'Kota, that was his name and it was fitting to the young male as he dreamed of the sea and of pirates. As a very young cub, younger than he was now, he had met a bird, it was huge and white and it's wingspan went on forever. It had spoken to hima nd told him of the sea, of the huge exppance of salty blue water that shifted and moved and of the humans that rode upon it in great giant things called ships. Apparantly.
As he grew, though he was still of course a young cub, he had spoken to the bird many times and learned some pirate lingo. He loved to pretend to be a pirate. He didn't of course fully understand what a pirate was but they said weird things like peices of eight and swashbuckle and man the sales. He pretended as he padded along to be a pirate. 'Kota didn't much like sleeping all the time, his mother and father and siblings usually slept the day away but he liked to come out and explore, maybe even see the white bird, though it was no where in sight today, he could make plenty of fun on his own.
"Arg ye scurvey wretch, avast ye, I beas a pirate yar!" His voice echoed accross the savannah, he assumed noone could hear his echoing calls, after all, it was the middle of the day everyone was sleeping..Right?

"Whats a pirate?"
Stood upon a small boulder, the sun-beating down on her white pelt and making her gleam slightly, Ihlosenka smiled at the dark cub cheerfully. Her tail swished about her and her head tilted in curiosity as she watched the dark cub charge about and speak with 'args' and 'avasts'.
He reminded her of her mother, who she had sucessfully managed to give the slip yet again. Not much could be done to keep this curious little madam from exploring. She wanted to see everything.

Nahodha'Kotas eyes fled upwards as the voice split through his curious ramblings. Coal black eyes fixed cheerfully upon the pale pelt and red markings of this unknown female.
The black male sat with a little dusty flump and puffed out his chest 2Well don't you know one when you see one? I'm Captain Hook!" he proclaimed saying his name in english rather than swahili. perhaps it was an actof fate that the oddball of Kizukas litter had gained a name which linked so wonderfully with his currant obsession, he wanted to be a pirate!
Clearing his throat, and in his best piratey accent the cub addrssed the female once again using as many args as he could cause that was the way pirates spoke! "Arg lassy, who be ye a swashbuckling off me starboard bow arg?" he blinked confusedly though he grinned in one of those irrisistably cute smiles he so often did, he wasn't sure if pirates were supposed to grin, still, it wouldn't do any harm to be friendly, would it?.

Ihlo smiled in a bemused manner, unsure whether to laugh at the many words that sounded funny but had no meaning for her, or whether to join in. If being a pirate simply meant saying 'arg' and 'avast' and 'ye' in your sentences, then surely anyone could be one.
"Well, if I had to ask you what a pirate is, then obviously I've never seen one before," she said, still perched on the flat-topped boulder, the sun beaming down from behind her and casting a small shadow in the afternoon sun.
"But you look like a regular cub to me."

Nahodha'Kota was clearly deflated by this females matter-of-factness, he pouted for a moment but that didn't last very long. He didn't know this cub, who was she? Padding closer to the booulder he took his time to clamber up beside her. he was a fairly big cub, larger than either of his siblings being the only boy in the litter of three, he considered himself the protector, big brother over his two sisters though he was really the middle born child. "Being a pirates kinda' comp'lcated he stated a back foot coming up to itch an ear, he looked thoughtful before speaking again. "i am one though it's just ghhard ta 'splain"
He nodded an affirmative and smiled looking the pale female over she certasinly wasn't a prode lander "who are you any ways? I'v never seen you around here before. You jus' moved in?" he grinned he knew lots of lions came and went in the pridelands, that was fine by him new lions meant new friends!

The little pirate was clearly a determined pirate, and Ihlo panicked for a moment as he began to clamber up her rock. She took a few tentative steps back until she felt it was safe. He didn't look angry, but it was always best to be safe than sorry, as her mother always said.
"My name is Ihlosenka," she replied, and then lifted a paw to point the direction towards her and her family's temporary den out on the plains. "And I guess you could say that, I come from over there."
Only once Nahoda had climbed up and stood face to face with her could Ihlo tell he was a different sort of lion and bigger even than her two brothers. Maybe he was older than her?
"So whats so complicated about bein' a pirate? Isn't it jus' a lot of args and avasts?"

Nahodha'Kota looked thoughtful for a moment, well, technically, yes thats exactly what he thought it was but he wasn't about to say that "Naw, it's not jus' that theres other stuffs too but its too difficult to explain." he nodded an affirmative, that sounded very clever to him, she wouldn't ask any more questions he was pretty sure.
Peering past her to the invisable den 'Kota smiled "great, My family and i don't live too far away, my mums called Kizuka, she's got pink on her she's real easy to recognise" He grinned proudly, he was proud of his family and his heratage, he was a pridelander after all.
"Ihlosinukura.." he blurted blinking and raising a brow 2Your names kinda hard to say!" he giggles "it's pretty though!" nodding again he puffed out his little chest, making that white diamond stand out even more against the dark background "you wanna play? Theres a really cool waterhole not far from here. it's really awsome" he grins looking hopeful, he liked to make new friends, no matter where they came from.

Ihlo furrowed her brow a little and wrinkled her nose. What was there to understand? And was he implying that she was too dumb to undestand? She pouted for a moment, her curiosity stopped dead by Kota's reluctance to explain further.
At the mention of play, the slightly soured expression melted away from her face to be replaced by a lovely smile.
"Sure, sounds like fun. I haven't seen a big watering hole before," she said, hopping down from the boulder.

"Yar thats the ticket!" He grinned, dropping back in to his piratey accent partially as he dove off the boulder and padded beside her. He stood as tall as he could trying to make himself look like a big male. he imagined she would of course admire his impressive mane, that little fleck of haire that lapped out over his forehead. Yeah she had to realise he was a big pirate. Grinning to himself he tilted his head "this way" Smiling he hopped off through the grass pausing to look at the very pale female his onyx black eyes smiling in a pleased sort of manner.
"Yanno, you could prolly be a pirate too. i need ship mate" theword menat nothingto him, but it was fun to say it any ways "you just have to look mean and tough and say things like arg and swashbuckle and batton the hatches" he smiled. itr was all very complex stuff he knew.

Ihlo smirked and followed after Kota, trotting to catch up to his side. All she could think of for a few moments was how hot he must be with all that black fur. Her keen eyes had picked up every little detail of Kota's appearance, even if she made no comment or reaction.
"Y'know, my name...it isn't that hard to say. You can just call me Ihlo," she said, before the conversation progressed onto Kota's growing crew. She often did this, going back to a previous conversation topic or comment long after it was said.
"And pirates have to look mean?" she chuckled, bounding ahead of him to bat at the wayward flies and grasses. "Well you don't look so mean."

'Kota looked hurt as she told him he didn't look scary. "Hey I'm very scary with my hyooge mane and stuff" he stated puffing his chest out as he walked, which was a bit of an effort because he had to walk funny with his chest all puffed out.
After a few moments of walking like a soldier, 'Kota hatd to let his breathj go and walk normally again. Clearly this conversation wasn't going too well. Pouting a bit the dark male continued onwards towards the water hole deciding to change the subject.
"The water holes great and theres this big graveyard just beyond it. Me and my dad are gunna go there one day cause only brave lions go there when they are big and strong and stuff" he stated, looking proud of his knowlege of his home lands.

Ihlo giggled and chortled to herself as she watched Kota's display of maleness. The sucked-in-waddle must attract all the ladies. But in her giggle-fit and her wandering eye, she failed to notice the felled limb of a tree and toppled straight over it at full force.
"Oooof!" she grimaced and stood back up almost immediately, bounding back to Kota's side to pretend it had never happened. The gentle blush on her face was obvious though.
"A graveyard, huh? What kinda stuff lives there?" she began to ask when Kota's statement sunk in. "Whats a dad?"

'Kota chuckled when she rejoined him, though he resisted the urge to point out her topple. With a gentle grin he hopped along happily nudging the younger female with his nose.
"Oh the graveyards a scary place where hyenas live, it's all dark and stuff and no prey lives there, it's just full of elephant bones. My uncle Ausha and his pride live there though, it's a scary dark place" He beamed "Me and my dad are gunna go theer when we are bigger, he promised"
The youngster smiled though he looke confused when she asked what a dad was. "Whats a dad? Uhm, well, he's a big male lion who looks after you and teaches you how to hunt and stuff" he beams, thats what his dad did any way. "Don't you have a dad? " he looked puzzled at the concept, he thought everyone had a dad!

"Elephants? Aren't they supposed to be pretty big?" she asked, kinda shocked that there'd be a final resting place for these great giants. "Bones are kinda creepy without the animal attached to 'em."
Ihlo chewed over Kota's description of a 'dad.' A big male lion. Who taught them how to hunt. And protected them. For as long as she had opened her eyes every morning, she had never seen anything matching that description. In fact, she had never seen an adult male lion. With no clue what they looked like or how they would act, they could have horns and scales for all Ihlo knew! As such, she was oblivious to what a 'mane' was too, explaining her obvious lack of awe at Kota's 'mane.'
"I guess...I don't..." she said after a while, slowing down a little and looking at the ground. "Are they important?"

"Elephants are huge mah dad says they can trample you without ever noticing you so you have to stay away from them, though some are nice, me and dad talked to a elephant and her calf, they were nice." His dad was great he taught him lots of great intersting important things!
"Really? Wow" he said when Ihlo said she didn't have a dad "Dads are brilliant! They take you places and teach you to roar. My dad says when i grow up I'll have a big fluffy mane just like him and I'll be able to protect everyone just like he protects us." He looked proud of these facts though he wasn't sure what to say to the pale female about ehr lack of a father.
"You have a mum though right? Mums are good for teaching too" he grinned happily, and nodded quickly. "Maybe your dads just away for a while, my mum said she never knew her dad but he must have been coloured just like me cause I don't look at all like my mum or dad" he giggled happily, being the oddball in a family of white pink and brown was strange but at the same time, he stood out in the crowd.
