I could really get used to these soquili lands, Inali thought to herself. She was currently basking in the full sun of the plains, letting her black soak in the sun, while her white repelled it. It created a perfect contrast on her body, leaving her feeling wonderful and lazy. Lying down, she nibbled on grass. If anyone saw me, she thought, they would be appalled.
Giggling at the thought, the mare rose again, shaking off dust from her coat. Due to vanity, she felt the need to look utterly perfect right now, though she did not know why. Still, she did not look perfect- her silver mane and tail had grasses tangled in them. Her silver Celtic knot looked somewhat dusty, and she scrubbed at it absentmindedly. If only she could reach it better, she might look more like an youthful mare, and less like a silly filly!

((Vanity...that's so funny XD For largely that reason, I shall use Safi for this rp, if you'd like to change the title ninja ))
Humming to himself, Safi strolled across the grassy hillocks, his keen gaze taking in every detail of the rather uninspired landscape he found himself passing through. He couldn't say how many miles it had been...but it still looked the same! "For all I know, I could be going in a big circle; talk about your uninspiring bits of land!"
Still, even boring surroundings couldn't dim his naturally high spirits, and it was with his song that he continued walking along. There had to be something. There was always something, after all, so he knew that if he just kept going, he wouldn't be disapointed...and he wasn't!
"I knew it!" Letting out a slight crow of triumph, Safi stopped on the top of a small rise, on the other side of which he could now see a red mare. "You see, Ma'am? I knew that there would be something, somebody, or both!" Perhaps a little strange for a greeting...but for him, it was normal.

Inali nearly bolted when she heard the friendly, cheerful voice. Who was there? Her silver eyes widened as they finally landed on the wind soquili- she could never get used to his kind. She had only met one other before, but this one really was pretty as well.
"Erm... hello to you too?" This stallion had such an odd form of greeting! Or maybe all his kind was odd? The other wind creature had certainly been strange. Inali wasn't quite sure she could get used to these. How carefree they were! Didn't they have a worry in a world?
Trying to look proper and dignified, Inali bowed her head. "I am Inali strange one." Well, she certainly was to the point. "Were you looking for me? Can I touch your wings?" Ah, a touch of that childlike naivitee that made Inali who she truly was.

"Strange one? Strange greeting coming from a total stranger. Not that it wouldn't be a strange greeting coming from a friend, but at least it would have some sort of basis in fact." Without missing a beat, Safi grinned and walked down the hill towards Inali, his customary grin in place and a saucy swish in his tail.
"To answer your other comments in order, I wasn't looking for you in specific, but you fit my general scheme of what, or rather whom, I was looking for, which was something along the general lines of anybody. Anything, to be even more specific, and you are not only anything but anybody, thus making things even more simplistic for me!" Safi somehow managed to deliver this rather tangled bit of nonsense with what was actually close to a straight face, marred only by his grin and twinkling eyes. After all, it had been so long since he'd had a good conversation, and since Inali already seemed to think he was odd...he would run with it.
"And to answer your second question, I'm sorry but my wings are only available for touching every third Wednesday after the second rainstorm in April, exclusing foggy days. And this is only the second Wednesday, so..." With that, he trailed off, but ended with a wink. "But we'll see, maybe I'll feel like being nice!"

Inali tried to process the words of the wind soquili as he approached her, but by the time he had arrived, she was just making sense of it. His next paragraph stumped her entirely. "Wha... wait... I don't..." Blinking, Inali shook her head, silver mane flying everywhere. The stallion was having a go at her, having fun with her. Suddenly, Inali grinned.
Listening to his next comment, the mare recovered enough to give a quip of her own. "Oh, you do feel like being nice, because today is actually the third Wednesday. You have your dates wrong, you k now." It wasn't even close to April, nor Wednesday. Oh well. Leaning forward, Inali lipped one of Safi's feathers.
"You didn't give me your name, though I suppose it isn't the fourth Tuesday in a leap year after a hail storm, so I shouldn't expect it." Inali's eyes were now twinkling as much as Safi's. Oh, she would have fun with this stallion indeed!

"Third Wednesday from when I start counting, not from whenever anyone else starts counting. And no eating the feathers, Missy, or you'll get indigestion and it won't be my fault, I can assure you." He stuck out his tongue as he finished speaking, pulling back his wings and shaking his head at the mare who was so impudent as to try and eat his wings.
"And in addition to trying to eat my wings, you think that I should tell you my name? Man, if I would have known that randomly encountered prairie mares were demanding, I would have headed for the woods instead! But I suppose I can be generous." Flipping his wings back in a manner both protective and pleasant, he swept Inali a bow. "I'm Safi. So, there you go!"

Feeling the wings pulled away from her mouth, Inali laughed. "I'm sorry. It's just so strange to see soquili winged like birds. It just... I don't know how it works." Feeling somewhat ashamed of her behavior, Inali ducked her head. Soquili cannot blush, but if they could, Inali would be a delicate shade of pink, instead of bright red.
"Oh yes. We prarie mares are very demanding." Inali laughed again. This stallion had a lot of charm and humor, and ammused Inali a great deal. "I am quite pleased to meet you Safi. I gave you my name all ready, but I will give it again. I doubt you noticed between the fourth joke and the fifth. I am Inali."

"Well, if you greet every bird you encounter by trying to eat their wings, I can imagine you'd be less than popular with the bird community as well. But I suppose that I can be gracious, if I am really that strange." Safi's mouth twitched as he uttered the word 'strange'; in a way, it was a poor choice of words, as he knew that he most certainly was a very strange individual. At least, that's what he'd been told before, and who was he to argue? Besides, normality was decidely dull. "But for future reference, it's best to ask before chowing down on the body parts of another."
At Inali's second introduction, he simply raised one eyebrow at her, then laughed. "Ah, but you ignore an important fact, Inali; a master is aware of what goes on beyond the scope of his art. I can crack a million jokes, quips, witticisms, anecdotes, puns, riddles, conundrums, and random sarcastic remarks and I'll still notice if an ant sneezed. Useful skill, you might say." The stallion's look was now basically one of speculation; if Inali wanted to try and out joke him, well... twisted

"Oh no. Not every bird. Just the large ones that look like horses." Inali was laughing now, openly. This stallion amused her to no end. Maybe she had met someone to be her friend? A stallion, this time. Well... besides the ones who were already her friends.
"Ah, but a master is also aware of true physical comedy... like the fact he has his tail caught in a bush." Inali giggled. His tail wasn't really stuck in a bush, but it would be worth seeing the expression on his face if her little ruse worked.
