The setting sun shone down upon the lands, turning things fiery. As she waddled towards a little brook, Jini'kali observed how the grasses looked. It was in moments like this when her pale, pale pelt was turned fiery by the dieing light that she blended in the greatest. As she reached the water, she noticed paw prints, but thought nothing of it. No animal was stupid enough to mess with a honey badger. Only elephants, crocodiles, and hippos didn't worry, for the white ratel gladly kept her distance from them. Elephants could toss her, the other two could snap her in half. Rhinos... She gladly peed on them.

Ger walked along the path coming back from another day with Jamaa and his friends. The wild dog and that ratel was a fun show to watch when they argued and end up playing around. Ger smiled, Jamaa was funny, Topas was too. Though today was wierd, one topic was of mating. It would seem that they didn't really care about Ger he just went along with it. Jamaa talked about his mate, Temari, or something along those lines. Then he badgered Topas and then he broke with Jini'kali. However, then they bestered Ger, he blurted out Trina and the two laughed. It was humilating....why did he blurt out Trina?
Ger was coming home now that it was getting dark when crossing the watering hole he saw something white. He thought perhaps it was just a glare from the sun, but it moved. Curious he went down to see.
"Hi!" he greeted, sitting on the water's bank. "What's your name?" he was pretty straight forward.

Looking up from the water, the ratel grunted. "Hi." Water dribbled from her maw as she sat down, watching the cub. After a lion cub had saved her from dieing in the thorn bushes to the west, she'd decided that she wasn't about to harm a lion. So she decided to be patient with the cub.

"So what's ya name?" he repeated with his cub smile. "My name's Ger." Ger was one of manners...sometimes. Give one's name before asking for another's. Ger looked down at the obvious female, she looked like him. "Hehhehe." he chuckled and lost his composure as he started to laugh harder.

The ratel raised an eyebrow at the laughter but didn't question it. "The name's Jini'kali. Pleasure to meet ya, Ger." Her accent when she spoke was rather obvious. Even though she'd been born and raised in the area, she had a distinctly New York accent. One of her parents had been a creature released into the wild from New York, and she'd picked up on the accent growing up.

"S-sorry, it's nice to meet you, Jini'kali." Ger rolled up to his feet and smiled, "Wait, are you the same Jini that loves Topas?" he asked, still chuckling from his gigglefit. Jini and Topas....that would be strange. Jini seemed so nice and Topas was so...not.
Ger laid down and looked at the ratel. "Your accent sounds funny...just like Topas', except he's is even wierder."

The ratel couldn't help the blush rising up in her face. "Maybe I am... I certainly ain't seen any other badger named Jini'kali around here." She lay down, not finding the cub all that threatening. "Of course you'd find it funny. You didn't grow up with it all around you. I got it from my mother. Came from a place called New York. It's really far away from here across an ocean.

Ger watched as the little rodent sat before him. "So you are Topas's mate." he said, at least know he knows that Topas wasn't lying. Her pale colored pelt was opposite to Topas' black, opposites do attract. Ger smiled and pawed at the ratel, "So Jini, what do ya think of Topas?" he asked, curious since he might want to know later if he got into a relationship.
While he waited for his answer, Ger licked his paw and tried to get the single cowlick that refuses to go down. If only he knew where his mother was this wouldn't be a problem.

"Yup." She smiled, not appearing to mind as the cub pawed at her. "I think he's nice, funny... Cute..." She sighed happily. Oh, yeah, she had fallen hard.

"I have heard about you too." he said with a smile. Topas sort of went on an episode when Jamaa and he pestered him about it. It was funny how he went one for minutes about this very female. "He said you were cute, beautiful, wonderfully nice, charming, courtious, but then he added in "In her own way." ." he explained sort of chuckling at the last part.

A happy sigh escaped the blushing badger as the cub rattled off what Topas said. As she listened, the sun sank down. Looking up, the ghostly creature frowned. "Sun's gone down. Shouldn't little cubs be getting off to bed?" She looked at Ger, one eyebrow raised.

"It's not getting that late, Jini. I don't have to go just yet." he whined. He didn't like it when his elders told him what to do, no matter the size. "But if ya want to find Topas he's probably back at his den I guess." he said getting up to his feet. "Want me to come?" Ger smiled innocently, he didn't really want to go home just yet. THe night was still young and so was he.

"You most certainly may not!" The white and gray badger got up, nudging the cub towards Pride Rock. "You're goin' home, and you're goin' to your momma. She's probably wonderin' where you are right now!" If she was gonna spend time with Topas... A cub wasn't something that they'd want around.

Ger flinched, a sudden mood swing? "Alright, alright!" he shouted. "I'll go home..." he replied. Ger gave a meak smiled and gave a quick lick at her and quickly ran away before she could recover from her time of confusion.
"Bye Jini!" he called back as he ran back to Pride Rock for the night. "See you again."
