 Ra had only been back from New Zealand one day and he was restless. Having spent the past few weeks roaming around the islands and hanging out with his Aunt he had gotten used to the constant company. Now, back at Aquila it all seemed to quiet, what with everyone either MIA or off on holiday.
After an hour or so of lounging around in bed reading he decided to go and see what Obie was up to, it had been a while since he last saw her.
Getting up he showered and dressed, almost not recognising himself in the mirror. Three weeks of sun had made his skin so dark he looked like he had been wandering the sahara. He left his hair wet as he had gotten used to allowing it to spring up into its natural waves he had gotten so used to not styling it he couldn't be bothered anymore.
In a daring move he pulled on a sleeveless top to display his pride and joy a real tamoko tattoo that covered his left shoulder and swirled across his shoulder blade. The perfect souvineer, accompanied by a lip ring and two in his ear. His mother was going to kill him, but for once he didn't care.
Smiling to himself he grabbed one of the presents he had brought for people off his desk and made his way over to Obies. nodding to a song in his head he knocked at her door and waited for someone to answer.

 Isabel fairly flew to the door at the knock without Obie's permission. Finally someone decided to grace her sister with their presence. She was beginning to think that her sister had become a total recluse rather than the partial one she had been back home. Sid's near silence was finally starting to get to her, as she had finally run out of mindless chit chat who or whatever happened to be on the other side of the door was going to be a welcome relief. Opening the door with a dazzling smile her ice blue eyes took in the gorgeous young man before. Holy hell. Sid had friends like this and hadn't told her? She was definitely going to get an earful from her later about this.
"Hello," she smiled cheerfully. "Can I help you with something?" Obie looked up at the knock on her door and barely had time to close her book before Isa had already opened it. Taking a deep breath, she pushed herself up from the couch and walked over to blink at the vision before her. There was no way that he could be... But it was. It most definitely was a darker, mussed... pierced Rashne. She was too stunned at first to say anything until her sister purposefully shifted to stand in her line of vision. Coming out of her reverie, glanced over at Isa and stepped over to her other side to give Ra a mildly warm smile.
"Hey stranger," she smirked as she leaned against the doorframe and crossed her arms.

Ra blinked as someone he didn't know opened the door. Obie had a new roommate. He raised an eyebrow at her and glanced past her into the room.
He didn't like to judge people on first glances, but his instinct said 'fake' from the revealing clothes to the sweet smile on her face. She made him nervous and not in a good way.
He opened his mouth to ask for Obie when she appeared next to the girl. Again he motioned to say hi as the blonde stepped in front of her. He blinked, and gave her another look.
"Hey." He said as Obie managed to free herself from the human screen. "Can I come in? I come bearing gifts." He grinned holding out a small rectangular box.

Obie's smile warmed considerably at the look he gave her sister. Yep. Isabel was a fine piece of work, she agreed with him silently and was glad that he could see right through her.
"Of course you can," she said, pushing away from the doorframe and stepping back into the room so he could enter. "The gift is just a big bonus, right?"
Isabel frowned inwardly, not allowing the expression to mar her flawless features. He had completely ignored her. Moving back as well when Sid told him he could enter, she allowed her eyes to travel over him again, then shot her sister a meaningful look.
Obie caught the look Isa sent her way and sighed lightly.
"Ra, I'd like for you to meet my sister Isabel. Isabel, this is my friend Rashne," she said, doing the introduction with a hint of flatness in her voice. "She's here for a few days for a visit," she smiled sourly. And I'm about ready to kill her too, she thought as she went to sit back down on the sofa, leaning back against the arm of it.
"It's so nice to meet you! Sid hasn't introduced me to any of her friends here. I'm beginning to think she's ashamed of me," she pouted slightly as she closed the door behind him.

Ra grinned at Obie, catching the tone in her voice as he stepped into the room. So this was the sister. "Nice to meet you." Ra said politely as he continued through to the sofa, flopping down next to Obie. He didn't bother with the 'you can call me Ra' repetoire, and stopped himself from taking the bait left by the comment about being ashamed. "What do you think of Japan?" He asked her as he handed Obie the box. "You can open it." He said with a smirk, "So I can explain." The prezzie.

Isabel fairly bounced across the room to sit down on the Ra's other side, mirroring her sister's pose so that she could look at him properly. She flashed him a bright white smile at his question and pretended that the fact that Sid had gotten a gift when she most obviously wouldn't be getting one did not bother her.
"I love it here. The people are so very nice and views are absolutely amazing," she gushed. "Much prettier than the flat plains that surround Dallas, right Sid?" she asked, then didn't bother to wait for her to answer.
"So where are you from Rashne? How did you and Sid meet?" she asked him, her bright eyes searching his face. It was so nice to have some fresh blood in the room, especially when he happened to be incredibly hot.
Obie took the present from him and smiled lightly as she began to open it at his invitation. She was quite sure she knew what was going through Isa's head at the moment. She didn't even listen to her sister as she prattled on about Japan, nor did she even bother to look up at the question she shot her way. She knew she was only asking for the sake of hearing herself talk. When the box was open, she reached in and pulled the small, smooth green stone out from its confines. It was really very gorgeous. And a necklace, she quickly realized as she noticed the black cord attatched to it.
"Ra... it's lovely. Where did you get it?" she asked, looking up to his grey eyes.

Ra raised a conspirital eyebrow at Obie as the questions were asked. Obviously one for attention.
"I'm from Iran." He said as he watched Obie open the box. How did he and Obie meet? He thought for a moment as he relaxed back into the sofa. "Um we were lab partners and got talking." He said, obviously leaving out all the messy business that actually involved them becoming close friends.
"It's maori jade carving." He said, turning his attention back to Obie. "This shape stands for friendship, strength and happiness. They believe wearing it enhances your spirit." He gave a small shrug. "I thought it would suit you. Both aesthetically and spiritually. If that makes any sense."

Obie smirked at his short answers and then lack of return questions. Sometimes she could just hug him, she thought as she listened to his explanation. Her smirk softened into a rather warm smile as she looked back down at the jade pendant and she ran a finger over the cool, smooth stone. Smiling back up at him, she quickly fastened it around her neck and couldn't stop herself from her next move. Leaning forward, she wrapped her arms around him to give him a quick squeeze. With all the crap that she had been wading through lately, his gift could not have meant more to her than it did at that moment.
"Thank you. It makes complete sense," she smiled as she pulled away and looked down as she lifted the pendant up so she could look at it again.
All amusement left Isabel's eyes as she listened and watched the events unfold before her. Not only had they completely forgotten about her, her sister was incredibly happy and had shown him affection. Eyeing them closely for a moment, she tilted her head to the side, her long blond hair spilling over her shoulder.
"That's an incredibly thoughtful gift," she said with a hint of frostiness coloring her voice and smile. "Sid needs all the help she can get. Don't you Sid?"
Obie looked up at Isabel's tone and arched a brow. Somebody please save me, she cried out silently. She just really didn't want to deal with one of her sister's diva tantrums today. Or ever again for that matter.

Ra was more than suprised at the hug from Obie. Though with the tension in the room he guessed that his interruption to their afternoon was welcome.
"I really like the maori culture." He said with a smile as he watched her admire the pendant. he had brought one for Chii too, not that it seemed like she would ever get to see it.
At the sister's comment he turned to give her a cold glare.
"It's a shame I didn't know you were coming. I could have got you one to enhance personality." He gave her a smile and turned back to Obie. "As I was saying, I got quite into the maori culture, it seems so free. I spent a couple of days talking to one of the older men about things so he could design this for me." He said pointing to the large tattoo on his shoulder. "What do you think?"

Isabel blinked at his insult. She glanced to Sid to see if she would stand up for her and noted the smirk that she was trying to hide.
"No wonder you've become such a frigid b***h since you left home," she shot across him to her sister. "I'm going for a walk," she said curtly and promptly left the room, slamming the door behind her.
Obie swallowed hard to keep from laughing at Ra's comment to Isabel. Okay... forget hugging him. She could just about kiss him for that. She had been about to ask Ra more about the maori culture and had started to lean forward to get a better look at his tattoo, when Isabel decided to let her very true colors shine. As soon as the door slammed behind her, Obie let out a deep breath and visibly relaxed.
"Hmm... she's such a charmer," she smirked and then continued to lean forward to get a closer look at his shoulder.
"That's really amazing Ra. So gorgeous. Does it mean anything?" she asked, looking up into his eyes.

Ra stared wide eyed at Isabel's outburst and shook his head as she stormed out of the room.
"Hmm, nice girl." He smirked as he turned back to obie. "It means a lot of things. The guy made me tell him everything about me. I think it has a lot to do with inner strength and stuff like that."
He smiled and sat back against the sofa.
"I thought about a lot of stuff whilst I was out there. It felt good to be free from all the expectations. I decided I'm not going to take crap anymore. From my parents, from Chii. If they can't accept me for who I am then screw them."
He smirked and shook his head again.
"Sorry for the random outburst there. How have you been?"

"I think that was hardly random," she smirked as she sat back comfortably and tugged her sleeves down a little farther to cover her palms as she rested her hands down in her lap. "And I think that's a good philosophy really. Just don't go to the other extreme and end up like me," she said, looking down at her fingers peeking out from her long white sleeves. She studied her fingernails for a moment as she thought about what answer she should go with for his question. The generic one or the truth.
"I've been alright," she replied with a small smile, turning her eyes back up to his. "I have to say, I'm slightly jealous. It must have been nice to get away so you could sort out your head properly. This place seems to seriously mess with your ability to do that," she smirked.

Ra smiled at her light hearted warning and looked across the living room.
"Yeah, this place gets far to claustrophobic. I needed the time alone to drag myself out of the emo swamp I had sunk into."
He turned back to face her and shifted sideways on the sofa.
"So how come your sister is here, I can't imagine that you invited her?"

Obie smirked then put on a false sweet smile and voice. "Why Rashne... why on earth would yout ever suspect such a thing?" she asked with a bit of an airheaded toss of her hair, then let her expression turn sour. She looked over his shoulder at the door for a moment, then back at him.
"To be honest... I'm not entirely sure. My parents fed me some bullshit line about how much she missed me and how good it would be for her to experience the things that I get to. Yada, yada, yada. It's probably their way of elaborately spying on me. Making sure I'm not wasting their time or money by doing the things I used to," she replied, absently reaching up to rub the jade pendant between her fingers as she thought about that a little longer. "I can almost guarantee that she's probably on the phone with them right now feeding them some sob story," she sighed and dropped her hand back down to her lap.
"So tell me more about your travels? What did you get to see?" she asked, her smile warming again.

"Heh, that sucks." He said also glancing to the door, then back to Obie with concern. "well, if you need to escape you know where to come and hide." He said returning her smile.
"What did I do?" He asked draping his arm over the back of the sofa. "I learned to surf a bit, hiked, hung out with my Aunt, saw all the important sites, like glaciers and landmarks. It was brilliant."
