Every forum needs a chat thread for some random talking, so here's ours.
So, anyone been to any concerts recently? I myself have seen Van Halen and Marshall Tucker Band, but that's about it. Not counting local shows, that is.

Harvested Sorrow I've seen Ozzfest, the Deep Purple/Satriani/Thin Lizzy tour, and yesterday part of the first day of the Jazz'SAlive festival. Sweet. Ozzfest came to D.C. while I was on vacation, so I didn't get to go. The next closest show was in Philadelphia, and no way was one of my parents going to drive me there. Same with a Kiss concert that same week. I dearly wanted to see Judas Priest and Black Sabbath. Also, Deep Purple came to town a while back, but I had to miss that one too. How I wish I had a knack for winning concert tickets.

About to give mod status to those who earned it as we speak. 3nodding
I'm also going to make a thread for the mods to talk. Like, I'll put join requests I receive in it and stuff, and we can discuss 'em. 3nodding It's also gonna be for discussing rules, other members, and etc. And just for chat. whee

Yeah...although, I really don't think the Kiss tour is a big loss. xp Of course, my opinion is biased...I refuse to pay money to a band who's THAT damn greedy, even if I do like their music, and I've never been all that fond of Kiss.(Hotter Than Hell is a pretty decent album, though, I just haven't heard any other 70's Kiss...)

I got the Very Best of Kiss for $9. That's 21 songs for nine bucks. 3nodding And yes, I've heard about everyone's opinions on Kiss "selling out" and how they never really sold out because they were in it for the money the whole time and etc etc. But I don't really care, because they play some awesome rock 'n roll and I know for a fact that they put on a damn good show. whee

I start my collections with the greatest hits albums, unless I already know that I really like the band. I have to ease myself into new bands or else I won't appreciate them as much, if that makes sense. And plus, I'm looking for more variety of bands rather than quantity of just one.
Have you seen the movie Detroit Rock City? That movie just makes you love Kiss even more. That's gotta be one of the greatest movies of all time.
^^That is a quite biased, opinionated statement because I have only been watching rock and roll movies for the past couple of weeks.^^
Another question.. Have you ever seen the Who's rock opera "Tommy"? If so, I would like to get other opinions on it.

Meh, I never bother with greatest hits, there's better ways to "ease yourself into a band" without wasting money on a worthless album. xp
I'll 1. Download some albums to check them out Or if I can't I'll: 2. Do some research, and go buy the album that is either A. their best album, or B. The album that will probably appeal to me the most
And no, I haven't. However, for it to make me "love Kiss more" I would have to love them already, I don't. xp Not to mention, my love of a band is usually based around the music, and their business policies, not a movie...
And no, I haven't seen Tommy. I'm not one to ask about rock based movies.(Unless it's concert DVDs) I mean hell...I haven't even seen The Wall or We Are Spinal Tap, yet. >_>

And if the album is good enough and has enough songs that I know of, I'll get it instead of greatest hits. I believe the best example of this would be British Steel. Don't have it yet, but I have a gift certificate to a CD store and I plan to look for it there. About the movie: I liked Kiss before I saw the movie. We got to talking about Kiss in guitar class one day, and someone told me about the movie. I haven't seen the Wall, but This Is Spinal Tap is awesome. Thank goodness I have Netflix, or I would never see any awesome movies. RIP John Bonham.. Tomorrow is his the "anniversary" of his death. crying gonk

You can STILL do research, check out reviews, ask fans of the band...etc, etc, though. As for British Steel...uhh...do you have any other Judas Priest albums, or will that be your first? sweatdrop As for the comment on Kiss....I know you liked them before the movie, however, you said that it would make me love Kiss even more...I was responding with a smart a** comment by saying that I would have to love them in the first place for that to happen. xp John Bonham....sorry, but I'm drawing a blank on who that is. sweatdrop Actually, never mind, I just looked him up. It sucks, but hell, I can't really say that I feel sorry for him dying, since he did it to himself....people should use common sense if they're going to drink.

I like the part where they're in concert and one of the guys gets stuck in his pod. I almost forgot who John Bonham was. Took a lot of thinking on my part to remember. I don't try to remember someone's day of death though. It just seems a little odd to me.

Scratch that, TODAY is his death date. The only reason I knew that is because my friend is a drummer and a big classic rock fan. And about the drinking thing, I have to agree. Bon Scott died the same way. And Jimi Hendrix too, except his wasn't from drinking.
