i've noticed that a lot of us are students... and TKTS (a place to buy cheep tickets on the day of the show for those of you that didn't know)

and if you go to their web page you can sign up to get their newsletter/cheep tickets.

thought it would be a helpful little tip.

i just noticed that there is a $25 anual (thinking yearly) fee for participating...

but the most expensive tickets cost $32 so that's a HUGE savings on most of the big shows

No way. I live in New York and while TKTS does sell seats for $32 for certain shows, that's not their most expensive. New shows cost about $50 to get a seat. It's still cheaper. You just have to make sure the show is not too new or else they won't even be selling tickets for them. If a show is selling in the $20 range it is most likely an off broadway show that is not high in demand. Most tickets that TKTS's sell is in the $45-$55 price range. It's still pretty damn good.

You can also become a member of Playbill for free and get discounts on plays too, usually 25%-40% I think. And it's free.

I must agree with Possessed. $45-$55 bucks a pop. The least amount I have EVER had to pay was $33 and that was five or six years ago for a show that had a reduced price due to previews. I've actually paid $53 for the last three shows I bought there (Rent, Bombay Dreams, and La Cage)

And don't expect the popular shows to be there. POSSIBLY on an evening, in the middle of the week, in the rain... you might see something extra besides Fiddler on the Roof, The Producers, or Rent.

And as it is... it's getting harder and harder to get decent seats for the even the less popular shows. Half the time they only sell the "partial view" seats.

If you don't have alot of cash and you don't care where you seat in the theatre, TKTS is the place... but it's luck of the draw. Sometimes you win, sometimes you loss.
