you can chat about anything in here, even CG. (yes, you heard right.) maybe we can get to know each other better though normal conversations. talk about life problems if you'd like, whatever. just....talk. mrgreen (don't spam though, that's the only rule)
also, i would change the poll every once in a while. it's just a poll, doesn't have anything to do with anything.

i think this thread might be a pretty good idea; the group seems to have gone into a slump as of late. maybe this will get people talking again.
-tries to come up with conversation....fails-

Thanks guys! ^_^ I would'nt say they're all cute but I like that point of view. I'd love to draw you Dirty_sox3 (btw do you have a nickname??) but I'm bisy with real life commissions at the moment. On top of that I just got another job and school starts in a week. Maybe if you commissioned me with real money or we did an art trade I could squeeze you in somewhere.
What are you all doing/working with, and whats your future plans?

haha, real life comes first, chemie. don't worry about it, i can wait. if i had real money to pay you, i would, but i don't. people on gaia usually calls me sox. i go by amy in real life. i've also been refered to as captain in this guild. call me whatever. i have too many names already, one more won't make any difference. xd
well, i'm leaving for china in 2 weeks. which means i'll be away from gaia again. then right after i get back, i have start my college applications and get my porfolio ready for porfolio review days.

Allrighty captain! pirate
I want to go to china too! D: Are you going there on vacation?
You're going to continue to study art. That's so awesome! biggrin I'd love to see yout whole portfolio. I might go into design if I don't get into dentist collage. 3nodding That would be a dream but it's just so risky. I just got an extra job as a personal assitent to a paralysed guy, plus I study physics and work some as a waitress.

eek sounds like a busy life. i....slack off all day at home. sweatdrop i have to go to work next week. i work in a hospital doing medical research and lab work. i guess it can be pretty fun at times, but counting cells all day gets tiring after a few minutes. sweatdrop
well, i'm originally from china, so i'm going back to see my family. i'm trying to re-learn some chinese so i might actually be able to read the street signs when i go back. and i doubt that anyone in china will understand my "chinglish" (chinese mixed with english)
as for art school, i never really considered it until a year ago casue my parents didn't let me. i always thought i would go to some big name university, then go to med school and become a doctor of some sort, until i took ap chemisty. sweatdrop then i realized how much i hated science. there's no turning back for me. i'm determined, no matter how hard my life might be in the future.

but i have to say, finding a right art school is really a pain in the a**. all the schools that have attracting programs are located in bad areas, such as in california, where it's a 5 hour plane ride for me, or in the heart of downtown detroit, where the crime rate is the second highest in the country. not to mention hunting down a school that'll actually offer me some scholarship. there's no way i'll be able to afford art school without some sort of aid.

i know what you mean about searching for colleges, cap'in. its a horrible pain. i can imagine looking at actual art schools would be like 10X as bad as looking for a college with a good psych program (thats me). real life is such a pain, lol. i dont slack off all day...im still in high school (but i am in my senior year, i suppose thats a plus). but here we've got the whole "omg if you dont find a college before you get out of high school you're a LOSER, you'll never make anything of yourself!" thing going on. so thats fun.
doing medical research, eh? sounds like that could be interesting. mostly boring, but spontaneously interesting.

I think new york would fit in twice in it whee

The only thing I've been bisy doing this summer is looking for a job. xd I've applied for like 100 and I just got another one cleaning hotel rooms. So now I'm a cleaner for two different hotels, I'm a waitress, dentist nurse and personal assistent for a disabled guy evry now and then. ^___^
I graduated from high school last year but since then I've been taking science classes cause my major was art.
Medical research sounds really fun really! I love working as a dentist nurse cause I want to be a dentist. Right now I study physics wich is the most boring part of science I think. I heart biology.
I don't know how collage works in the US but it costs right? Here it's free, you just have to pay for your appartment, books, food ect. wich is pretty hard when you study full time. So most people take huge loans wich they pay off for the rest of their lifes. You have to have really good grades for all educations over here. I'd like to know more about how it works in your country/countries. 3nodding
Sox, why is a cali a bad area? Looks nice on TV from Sweden. ^_^

kirio26:i actually considered psychology for a while, but my mom didn't like the fact that i would spend a lot of time in school and then get a really low starting salary. (the avarage is around $23,000 a year.) not that i would get a higher one doing art, but she would rather have me spend a couple more years in school and get a M.D and get $60,000 starting salary and eventually get up maybe over $200,000 a year. the average doctor earns over $100,000 a year while psychologists only earn about $60,000~$70,000. (yes, i've done some research) and since i'm not that big on science, money becomes the main concern instead of passion. know what i mean? i have a really good friend who's studying psych right now in college, and i think it's the perfect career for him since he's really good at listening to other people's problems. i can't imagine him as anything else. i'm sure you're much like him, so i support both of you all the way. 3nodding
Hasel: i heard that art schools are really competitive in europe, and many come to u.s. to study because of it.
Chemiechan: i've been applying to the local art stores, but no one has ever called me back for an interview. i just applied at a local clothing store today. wish me luck. i really need a job. i don't think doing RL commissions is enough to get me anywhere since i usually get commissioned by students like myself who don't have a lot of money to spare.
and everything in u.s. costs money. stare for 4 years of private art school, i would have to pay around $160,000 (for both tuition and dorms). then there's the supply fee and living expense that costs another fortune. (i don't know the conversions for money sweatdrop ) i'm 90% sure that i'll get in the schools i want to go (maybe except for cooper union), but it's finding the right one and getting a scholarship the hard part. there's no way that my parents will be able to just spit out that amount of money just like that.
and cali is bad for me because everything there is expensive, plus the fact that i live over 2000 miles away from that darn place. and not to mention their summer heat. that alone can kill me. depending on where you live in cali, it can easily get over 100F in summer. 80F is enough to kill me.
wow....i think i rambled a little too much........... sweatdrop
